Martha Ann Freesland, 63, died Friday morning, November 16, 2001, at her home in Goose Creek. The funeral service will be at the graveside, 12 noon, Monday, in Carolina Memorial Gardens. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL.Martha was born December 5, 1937, in Brunswick, Ga., the daughter of the late J.D. and Louise Younger Farmer. She earned her degree in business administration from Limestone College. She served as Parish Administrator at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Charleston from 1994 until last year.She is survived by her husband of 44 years, John H. Freesland; her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah (Bill) Kosnow of Summerville, and her son, Derek Gadberry of Goose Creek. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Chamala and Chris Holmes and Michael Gadberry and two great-grandchildren, Tori and Kaila Holmes.

Mrs. Vera Cole Dean, age 97, of 1250 Teamon Road, Griffin, Ga. 30223, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2001, at her residence.Mrs. Dean was born May 1, 1904, to the late William Cole and the late Mollie Addis Cole. ftired USNR Commander Thomas Irvine Dean, Sr., Mrs. Dean was a graduate of the Lander College in Greenwood, S.C., where she received her teaching degree, a former teacher of the Oconee County School System. A retired teacher from the First Baptist Church in Charleston, S.C., where she was a very active member at the church having served in many different areas as well as Sunday School teacher, active in the youth department, women's missions. Mrs. Dean was the First Woman to serve on the Board of Directors in the South Carolina Baptist Association. She had been a member of the Sunnyside First Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Griffin, Ga. She was active in the Eastern Star in Charleston, serving as past worthy matron, Daughters of the Nile, and the Kings Daughters.Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Tom, Jr., and Gail Dean of Griffin, Ga., daughter, Virginia G. Horres of Charleston, S.C., grandchildren, Tommy and Connie Dean III of Edgefield, S.C., Charles David Dean of Griffin, Robert E. Dean and Vickie Henry-Dean of India Atlantic, Fla., great-grandchildren, Thomas I. Dean, IV, Mary Doar Dean, both of Summerville, Kellie M.
