FAIRFAX - Mrs. Virginia T. Weekley, wife of the late Clinton Weekley, died Thursday afternoon at the Allendale County Hospital after an extended illness. She was 77.Mrs. Weekley was born December 7, 1922 in Allendale County the daughter of the late Jones Thomas and Laura Thomas. She was a homemaker and on the hostess committee at the church. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.Surviving are one brother, Billy Thomas of Fairfax and one sister, Mrs. Betty Manual of Ulmer. She was predeceased by a brother, Henry Thomas and a sister, Mildred Platts.Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with burial following in the Harter cemetery. BETANCOURT, Bessie
Bessie Fraser Betancourt, 93, formerly of Georgetown, died Friday, November 16, 2001, at Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Home.Mrs. Betancourt was born in Georgetown on September 3, 1908, a daughter of the late Benjamin Porter Fraser and Bessie Harleston Lesesne Fraser. She was a graduate of Winyah High School and Winthrop College. Mrs. Betancourt was the Clerk of Court for Georgetown County for 29 years. She was a communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church and a member of the Altar Guild for many years. Mrs. Betancourt was a Red Cross Volunteer for 75 years and a recipient of the Clara Barton Meritorious Leadership Award.Surviving are three nieces, Elizabeth Fraser Huger of Charleston, Anne Huger Heilman of Palatka, Fla. and Margaret Bentley Huger of Richmond, Va.; one nephew, Robert Benjamin Fraser of Mt. Pleasant; two great-nieces, two great-nephews; two great-great-nieces, a great-great-nephew; and several cousins.Funeral services will be Monday morning, November 19, 2001, at 11:00 o'clock at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul C. Fuener. LOWRIMORE, Ashpy P.
FLORENCE - Ashpy P. Lowrimore, 65, died Thursday, November 15, 2001, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after a sudden illness.He was born in Britton's Neck, South Carolina, a son of the late Archie L. and Gertrude Richardson Lowrimore. Having been in banking since 1962, he was currently the Regional President with BB&T; in Florence.He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence.Mr. Lowrimore served the community of Florence in many capacities. He was a member and former president of the Florence Rotary Club, and President and Campaign Chairman of United Way. He served on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America from 1994 - 2000, and was a charter member of the Florence Civic Center Commission. He worked with Economic and Community Development for 25 years and Florence County Progress for 20 years. He served as Pee Dee Chapter American Institute of Banking President in 1982 and was a member of the Pee Dee Chapter of Bank Administration Institute in 1983. He also served on the S.C. State Retirement Systems Investment Panel.He was the recipient of the Order of the Palmetto in 1995 and was named Florence County Business Person of the Year in 1994. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Francis Marion University in 2000.Mr. Lowrimore is survived by his wife, Carolyn Morrow Lowrimore of the home; three daughters, Wendy Lowrimore Seabolt and Wanda Michelle Lowrimore both of Savannah, Geo. and Celeste Bridgers Hudson of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Loretta Lowrimore Roscoe of Conway, SC and Bernona Lowrimore Rodgers of Pinopolis, SC; and grandchildren, Matthew Hunter Seabolt and Amanda Peyton Seabolt, both of Savannah.He was predeceased by two brothers, Augustus L. Lowrimore and Herman P. Lowrimore.Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2001, at Calvary Baptist Church, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope cemetery. His activities included active participation in SCISA, The Association of Secondary School Principals, Rotary, The Retired Officers Association, The Gamecock Club and the USC Alumni Association.Surviving are his wife Patsy, daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Rusty Campbell of Greer, SC, son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Julie Quarles of Peachtree City, Ga., and grandchildren, Will and Ben Campbell and Elizabeth and Catherine Quarles. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Lurlene Quarles of Edgefield, SC.

Mr. John Franklin Crosby, Jr., 57, of 856 Barkers Mill Pond Road in Fairfax, died Thursday afternoon in the Providence Hospital in Columbia after an extended illness.Mr. Crosby was born in Jasper County, January 20, 1944, a son of Mrs. Rosena Stanley Crosby and the late John Franklin Crosby, Sr. Mr. Crosby had retired from the South Carolina Highway Department in Hampton in the Maintenance Department.Surviving besides his mother of Columbia are his wife, Frances Brunson Crosby of Fairfax; three daughters, Kathy Shaner of Barnwell, Connie Chassereau of Ehrhardt and Mary Beth Herron of Fairfax; one sister, Elizabeth Hull of Columbia; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton, conducted by Rev.
