Mr. Cannon was born February 13, 1922, in Berkeley County, S.C., a son of the late Josiah Rhame and Sally Brown Cannon. He graduated from Berkeley County Public Schools and Rice Business College and he honorably served his country during World War II in the Navy Sea Bees (construction battalion) stationed in the South Pacific. He had worked at and retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, where he was a welder, a shop planner and a welding engineering technician. He also taught welding at Trident Technical College. Mr. Cannon was active in Cherokee Place United Methodist Church serving as an usher and a member of the Lee Sunday School Class as well as the Men's Club of the church. Active in North Charleston Jaycees for many years, the Travelers Protective Association, serving as President of Post "D" and as President of the State TPA. Mr. Cannon served as a board member and secretary of the State TPA. Mr. Cannon served as a board member and secretary of the John C. Calhoun Homes of North Charleston. He was active in serving as an usher for the Charleston Rainbows Baseball and Citadel Football, and the North Charleston Coliseum as an usher and a greeter. He was a member of Dorchester Masonic Lodge No. 369 and the Scottish Rites. He was also a member of the Old Friends of North Charleston.
He is survived by two sons, J. Al. Cannon, Jr. (Wallis B.) and Rhame B. "Rooster" Cannon (Sherry S.) and one daughter Odella "Dell" C. Schoenberg (Arthur J.); grandchildren, Kelly M. Keen (Brian), 1st Lt. Edward Mills (Dawn M.), J. Al. Cannon, III, Sara E. B. Cannon, Rhame B. "Chip" Cannon, Jr., and Matthew E. Cannon; great-grandchildren, B. Elena Z. Keen, Kennedy G. Mills and Brailen J. A. Mills.

Nancy Hanlon White, 49, of Charleston, died Friday, November 16, 2001 in Charleston. She was born in Charleston to the late John H. and Jane Hanlon White. Nancy was a 1971 graduate of Bishop-England High School and attended Marjorie Webster College and Palmer College. She is survived by a son, Ryan Campbell of Gill, Ma., two daughters, Kelly and Katie Campbell, both of Charleston, and their father, Colin R. Campbell, two sisters, Sally White Greer of Charleston and Peggy White Cunningham of Mt. Pleasant, and two granddaughters, Bryanna Campbell and Alden Campbell. James "Jamie" C. Barnett, 21, of Ladson, died Saturday, November 17, 2001, at his residence. He was born in Waukegan, Ill., and has been a lifetime Ladson resident. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a 2000 graduate of Stratford High School. Jamie will be sadly missed by his parents, James "Jim" and Laura Agee Barnett, sister Melissa D. Coffey of Anderson, brother-in-law, Leland, two nephews, Daniel and Brandon, niece, Chelcie, paternal grandparents, Herbert and Bessie Jones Peeler, maternal grandparents, Ivan and Mary Grace Benad Cartwright, both of Rolla, Mo. Visitation will be Monday one hour prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Elizabeth LaBruce Mitchell, 46, of Portland, Org., formerly of Charleston, S.C., died Wednesday evening at a local Oregon hospital. She was born in Charleston, a daughter of John Magill Mitchell and Edith LaBruce Mitchell of Mount Pleasant. Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Edith M. Blair and Ann M. Burger, both of Mt. Pleasant, an aunt, Virginia W. Mitchell of Charleston, one nephew, and one niece. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at 3:00 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. William Howell Fleetwood, 86, of Summerville, S.C., died Friday, November 16, 2001, at a local hospital.

Mr. Fleetwood was born October 19, 1915, in Jackson, N.C., a son of the late William Clarence Fleetwood and Elvie Howell Fleetwood. He was a retired Chief Warrant Officer (W-4) USAF, serving in WWII and Korea, and a member of Summerville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel Gay Fleetwood, of Summerville, son, William H. Fleetwood, II, of Saudi Arabia, daughter, Betty F. Harris of Summerville, brother, Henry Fleetwood of Seaboard, N.C., a sister, Faye Attkisson of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., four grandchildren, William T. Cantrell of Mt. Pleasant, Christopher B. Cantrell, Sr., of Summerville, Paul S. Cantrell of Columbia, and William H. Fleetwood, III of Texas, four great-grandchildren, Christopher B. Cantrell, Jr., of Summerville, Madison G. Cantrell of Mt. Pleasant, Tyler B. Fleetwood and Savannah L. Fleetwood, both of Texas. Mr. Fleetwood was predeceased by a grandson, Michael F. Cantrell.
