McKENNA, Lectry
The relatives and friends of Lectry Russell McKenna, widow of William Walter McKenna, are invited to attend her funeral services at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL, this (Wednesday) afternoon, November 21, 2001, at Two o'clock. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral chapel Wednesday afternoon from One o'clock until time of service.

RIDGEWAY, Hazel
The relatives and friends of Mr. & Mrs. John W. Ridgeway are invited to attend the funeral services of the latter, Wednesday, November 21, 2001, in Cokesbury United Methodist Church at 11 o'clock. Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery, Walterboro, SC, at 2:30 o'clock.
She is survived by her husband of North Charleston, S.C.; her mother of Walterboro, S.C.; one brother, Henry Dyson of Kingsport, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

HAGOOD, JR., Ben
PICKENS, S.C. - Ben (Bud) Folger Hagood, Jr., 75, of 204 Harvest Dr., Easley, died Monday, November 19, 2001, at a Greenville hospital.
born in Easley, S.C., Mr. Hagood was the son of the late Ben Folger and Margaret Sellers Hagood. He attended Easley Schools and was graduated from the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Haven in the Pacific and Asiatic Theatres, he attended the University of South Carolina where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Cotillion Club.
In 1948, he went to work for Pickens Mill, which later became Mayfair Mills, where he was elected Director and Vice-President in 1956. He continued in that capacity until his retirement in 1994.
Mr. Hagood was a charter member of the Pickens Rotary Club where he served as a past president and was named a Paul Harris Fellow in 1992. He was a member of the State Development Board and was also named to the State Chamber of Commerce Board. Long active in the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club activities, he served on its State Executive Committee.
Mr. Hagood had served as Chairman of Pickens County United Way Fund; president of the Pickens County Country Club; Advisory Board Member of Bankers Trust; Board Member of Cannon Memorial Hospital; Chairman and member of the Pickens County Planning Commission; and Advisory Board Member for Tri-County Tech. He had served on the Board of Faith Chapel in Cedar Mountain, N.C., and was a past chairman of the Ceasar's Head Community Club.
Mr. Hagood was a member of Pickens Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder Emeritus and formerly as Treasurer and Trustee.

Mr. Hagood is survived by his wife, Jeanne Early Hagood, of the home; five children, Gary Hagood Brightwell (Mrs. Charles S.) of Walterboro, S.C., Elizabeth Hagood Lindsay (Mrs. Pickens M.) of Atlanta, Ga., Ben Folger Hagood, III, of Anderson, S.C., Thomas Sellers Hagood, of Fort Mill, S.C., and Jeanne Clark Hagood, of Charleston, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Hagood Grantham.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, at the Pickens Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Reverend Randolph Harris, private committal services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, at the Hagood Family cemetery prior to the service.
The body is at ROBINSON FUNERAL HOME where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the Pickens Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 834, Pickens, S.C. 29671, or to the Foothills Presbyterian Home, 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley, S.C. 29642.

KOZMA, Minera T.
GAINESVILLE, FLA. - Minera T. Kozma, 77, died Sunday, November 18, 2001 in Gainesville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 23, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Our Lady of Ransom, Catholic Church in Georgetown. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will follow in Elmwood cemetery.
She was born in Georgetown, SC., a daughter of the late Joseph Kozma and Wadia Masad Kozma.
She was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing in Charleston in 1946. She later earned her BS and MS degrees in Nursing from the University of Florida. Ms. Kozma was instrumental in forming the basic doctrine of early patient care at North Florida Regional Hospital in 1973 and was founding director of nursing. During her years there, she served as a mentor to many doctors and nurses.
She became Vice President of Patient Services at Alachua General Hospital in 1978. She is remembered for her high work standards combined with fairness and compassion. Her unique ability to combine the theory of nursing from an academic perspective with practical, bedside, patient-oriented nursing care set the standard for patient care. Her desire for excellence captured many honorary titles. Among her most cherished accomplishments was becoming the Director of Nurses at Roper Hospital in Charleston and Vice President for Patient Services at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville. Until her retirement in 1986 she taught hospital administration courses as an adjunct professor with the University of Florida. She was recognized by the nursing association of the University of Florida as an outstanding colleague in 1989. The medical staff of Alachua General Hospital honored her with the award of many years of outstanding service as well as the most respected nurse award. Further tribute was given to her when the Minera T. Kozma Scholarship for nurses was established.
Surviving are four nephews, Edward J. Isaac of Charleston, John F. Isaac of Columbia, Robert A. Isaac of Athens, Georgia and Edward J. Kozma, Jr. of Georgetown and a companion, Pat Sass of Gainesville.

ELLIOTT, Mary
HEMINGWAY, S.C. - Mary C. Elliott, widow of Robert L. Elliott, died Monday, November 19, 2001, in a Charleston hospital.
She was born February 22, 1916, at Carter's Crossroads, Hemingway, SC. She was the daughter of the late John Leonard and Harriet Elizabeth (Betty) Carter.
She was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church, the Good Hope Prayer Group and the Good Hope Sunshine Sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lee Phillips and Betty Sue McAlister of Hemingway; four sons, Bobby Leonard Elliott of Hemingway, Charles Carter Elliott of Georgetown, Bucky Wendell Elliott of Lake Lure, N.C., and Larry A. Elliott of Litchfield Beach; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Good Hope United Methodist Church.

BROCKINGTON, Wendell
HEMINGWAY - Wendell F. "Penny" Brockington, 77, died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Hemingway First United Methodist Church with burial following in the Garden of Devotion cemetery directed by MORRIS FUNERAL HOME.
Mr. Brockington was born in Kingstree, a son of the late Walter R. Brockington and Ethelyn Freeman Brockington. He was employed 43 years at International Paper Co., was a World War II Navy veteran, a member of American Legion Post #84 and was an avid fisherman.
Surviving include his wife Ariel Cole Ingraham Brockington of the home; daughters, Kathy B. Smith of Philippi, W. Va., and Sherrell B. Crawford of Anderson; sister, Lucille Macon of Pooler, Ga.; brothers, Bert O. Brockington of Metarie. La., and W.R. Brockington of Goose Creek and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Wendell (Wendy) Brockington and a brother, Gene Brockington.
Memorials may be made to Hemingway United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6, Hemingway, SC 29554 or one's choice. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

SCOTT, Mark
Mark Elliot Scott, 40, of Moncks Corner, S.C., died Saturday, November 17, 2001, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at Parks Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday morning, November 21, 2001, at 11 o'clock. Burial will be private.

BUCKNER, Mamie
Mamie Iola Buckner, 75, formerly of Ruffin, SC., died Sunday, November 19, 2001, in Jacksonville, N.C.
The funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2001, in Sykes Savannah United Methodist Church, Ruffin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Buckner was born in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Pete Adams and Netha Givens. She attended the public schools in Colleton County and was a member of Friendly Christian Church, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Surviving are: one son, Ned Dubois, Jr., Nashville, Tenn., a daughter, Margie Priscilla Rogers (Tyrone), Jacksonville, NC.; three granddaughters, Lora LueVonde Gant (Tyrone), Walterboro, SC., Veronica Carter (Charles), North Charleston, SC., and Benita Priscilla Rogers, Jacksonville, NC.; one grandson, Mondell Gregory Crosby (Josie), El Paso, Texas; a great-grandson, Charles Michael Carter, Jr., North Charleston, SC., and a sister-in-law, Angeline Givens, Ruffin, SC.

ROBERTS, Tuffy
WEATHERFORD, TX - Master Chief Machinist Mate Tuffy Roberts, died at his home in Weatherford, Texas on November 17, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Roberts, one daughter, Tracy Garvin, two granddaughters Ashleigh and Bayleigh all of Weatherford, Texas. His son, Terry Roberts preceded him in death. Tuffy lived in Goose Creek, SC for twenty years during his career in the US Navy. Many will remember Tuffy as a friend and shipmate on Fleet Ballistic Missile submarines.
