ANDREWS - Lorie Wilmer Cannon, 64, died Thursday, November 29, 2001, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2001, at 11 a.m. in Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Officiating will be Rev. Dean Baber and Rev. James L. Lambert. Burial, directed by GRAHAM FUNERAL HOME OF GEORGETOWN, will follow in Lambert cemetery.
He was born June 30, 1937, in Williamsburg County, a son of Lorie Willard Cannon and the late Mamie Lee Elliott Cannon.
He was a retired employee with Cannon Knits. He was a member of Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Building Committee, a member of the choir and served as a church greeter. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as his hobbies.
Surviving are, his wife, Betty D. Cannon; his father of Andrews; one son and his wife, David J. and Lisa Cannon of Andrews; one daughter and her husband, Ramona C. and Stacy of Hardee of Andrews; one brother, Alton (Sap) Cannon of Andrews; two sisters, Mary Lee Thompson of Inman and Judy Rodgers of Bonneau; four grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Ruth Drew of Andrews and a close friend, David Cooper of Jamestown and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
DABBS, JoAnn
Mrs. JoAnn Burke Dabbs, 54, of 120 Nottingham Trail in Statesboro, Ga., died Monday morning in a Savannah hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Dabbs was born in Millen, Ga., November 30, 1946, a daughter of the late Onnie and Emily Morris Burke. She had worked at the Pineland Mental Health Department and retired from Georgia Southern University. Surviving are, her husband, Bobby L. Dabbs of Statesboro; one son, Robert Lewis Dabbs, of Statesboro; two daughters, Cynthia Marie Sandt of Savannah; and Bobbie Jo Goodwin of Cullowee, N.C.; one brother, Larry Burke of Midville, Ga., and one granddaughter, Emma Mae Goodwin. Graveside services were held 10 a.m., Wednesday, in the St. Paul cemetery in Hampton, S.C., directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME.
COLLINS, Johnnie
HUGER, S.C. - Johnnie "Ding" Collins, 74, of 2617 Cainhoy Road, Huger, S.C. died November 28, 2001 in an East Cooper hospital.
Funeral services will be held on December 1, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in Zion United Methodist Church in Huger, S.C. with the Rev. Marvin Taylor, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Cida Hill cemetery.
Mr. Collins was retired from Gibson Cushman Dredging Co. in New York City.
Surviving are three daughters, Curlena McDonald of New Haven, Conn., Barbara Corson of Huger, S.C., Vernell Cook of Moncks Corner, S.C.; one sister, Mazie Jackson, Manhattan, New York.
Viewing will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2001 at TEW COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME, 445 North Hwy. 52, Moncks Corner, S.C. The family will receive friends at 2617 Cainhoy Road in Huger.
DRAFFIN, JR., Richard
Richard Roger Draffin, Jr., 48, died Monday (11-26-01) at his residence in Columbia, S.C. after an extended illness. He was a native of Waycross, grandson of the late W.D. and Myrtie Carmichael. He had lived most of his life in Valdosta where he was a graduate of Valdosta State University and had been making his home in Columbia for the past six months where he was Director of Operations for the Oakwood Corporation. He was an Episcopalian.
He is survived by a daughter, Mercedes Draffin Castaneda and her husband Frank of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sons Rick Draffin and his wife Angel of Lake Park, Ga. and Dodge Draffin of Breckenridge, Colo.; his mother Anita Carmichael Eckenrode and her husband Donald of Blairsville, Ga.; his father Richard Roger Draffin, Sr. of Winter Haven, Fla.; six grandchildren Zoe, Ethan, Kendall and Courtney Castaneda of Lawrenceville, Ga., Gage and Trinity Draffin both of Lake Park, Ga.; one sister, Carla Green of Charleston, S.C.; two aunts Marion Hall of Atlanta, Ga. and Nina Walker of Blackshear, Ga.; and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning (11-30-01) at 11 o'clock in the chapel of the MILES-ODUM FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday night.

Julius Grady Siler, III, 77, of Summerville, S.C., died Saturday, November 24, 2001 at a local nursing home.

SHIRER, Jesse D.
LONE STAR, S.C. - Jesse David Shirer, 87, of 2972 McCords Ferry Rd., Lone Star, S.C. died Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at his residence.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 30 in Pine Grove Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Loadholt and Pastor Bob Young officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Lutheran Church cemetery, Lone Star, S.C. Pallbearers will be David Shirer, III, Mark Shirer, Scott Corcoran, Michael Smith, Derek Koucky, Michael Shirer, Jr. and Kayne Shirer.
Mr. Shirer was born in Lone Star a son of the late William Perry Shirer and Susan Felder Shirer. He was a retired lumberman and farmer. Mr. Shirer founded the Cameron Lumber Company, which he operated over 60 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Pine Grove Lutheran Church. He was a former board member of First National Bank, The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties and was a former Highway Commissioner. He also served as a former Magistrate and Constable. Mr. Shirer was a Mason and Shriner. He was a charter member of the Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Christine Zeagler Shirer, of the home; sons and daughters: J.D. Shirer, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Martha Emily Shirer, Lone Star, Margaret S. Mims and son-in-law, Richard E. Mims, Columbia, Linda S. Koucky and son-in-law Jack Koucky, Gilbert, Mike Shirer and daughter-in-law Kristi Shirer, Lone Star; 9 grandchildren: David Shirer, III, Donna S. Corcoran, Mark Shirer, Melissa Smith, Shannon Mims, Derek Koucky, Jessica Lane, Michael Shirer, Jr. and Kayne Shirer; 4 great-grandchildren.
