Ms. Ross was born in Louisville, Ky., a daughter of Edward and Lillian Sullivan Kelly. She is survived by three daughters, Janice Wolfe of Ravenel, S.C., Barbara Martin of North Charleston, S.C., and Linda Southwell of Toms River, N.J.; two sons, Michael Russ of North Charleston, S.C., and Richard Russ of Charleston, S.C., and four grandchildren.

KINGSTREE - Mrs. Emma Susan Disher Thomas, 85, widow of Hollie John Thomas, died Saturday at her residence.
Mrs. Thomas was born in the Hebron community, a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Bradham Disher. She retired after 30 years as an employee of Williamsburg County Memorial hospital. She was a Baptist. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her brothers, Leo Bryant, Everette Disher and Eugene Disher and sisters, Camilla McKenzie and Mary Jordan. Surviving are 2 daughters, Patricia Powell of Florence and Judy Poplin of Kingstree, 2 sons, H.L. Thomas of Manning and Francis Thomas of Los Angeles, CA, brother, Lindberg Thomas of Sumter, sisters, Ruth Cliff and Teresa Faulk both of Wilmington, NC; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Doris Louise Dampier Sprankle, 80, of North Charleston, widow of Donald Eugene Sprankle, Sr., died Saturday evening at her residence.

Mrs. Sprankle was educated in Florida schools, she was a homemaker and she was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Donna S. Haggard of Summerville, Dana S. Medford of Summerville, Melissa Darlene Horne of Summerville; 1 son, Donald E. "Don" Sprankle, Jr. of Summerville; 5 grandchildren, David Medford of Atlanta, Stephen Medford, Amanda Medford, Allison Haggard and Kristina Horne all of Summerville.

Lureane Ard Douglas, 74, of Lexington Park, Maryland, formerly of Summerville, widow of James O. "Sam" Douglas, died Friday, September 28, 2001 at her residence.

Mrs. Douglas was born on February 9, 1927 in Holly Hill, a daughter of the late John Henry Ard and Mary Pack Ard.
Mrs. Douglas graduated from Kingstree High School. She worked as a cook at Gregg Middle School and retired from Knightsville Elementary School. She was a member of Knightsville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane D. Carroll of Lexington Park, MD; a son, John W. Douglas of St. Inigoes, MD; 3 brothers, Emmett G. Ard of Greeleyville, SC, Richard L. Ard of Olanta, SC, John H. Ard, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; 2 sisters, Virginia Goodman of Chattanooga, TN, JoAnn King of Bishopville, SC; 5 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, 5 step great-great-great-grandchildren.

WHITE, James
James White, 65, of North Charleston died Thursday, September 27, 2001 at his residence. Verily, verily I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth in him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" John 5:24.
On October 16, 1935 Clifton and Annie Ruth White were blessed with the birth of their ninth child, James Richard. This event occurred in Philadelphia, PA.
He was educated in the public schools of Philadelphia, PA. James left Philadelphia to join the United States Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force, he began working with Southern Bell Telephone Company (Bellsouth). In 1995 he retired from Bellsouth.
James was a member of M.W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F. & A.M. of California and Hawaii, Inc. He was also a member of the Church of Christ.
His smile will be missed by his wife, Marie; daughter and son-in-law, Corliss and Byron Edge of Newport News, VA; sons and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Janice White of Seabrook, MD; son, Larry White of Charleston; Victoria White of Detroit, MI; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Terrance Ward of Sunrise, FL; stepdaughter, Elaine Garrison of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law, David and Betty White of Philadelphia, PA; sister and brother-in-law, Sara and James Webb of Laurel, DE; grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all survive Mr. White.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Terrell and Ellen Harvey of Summerville; his mother and stepfather, Beverly and Richard Kellett of Redding, CA; four brothers, Lenny Harvey and his wife, Sandy of Mooreville, MS, Garrett Harvey, Sim Harvey and Ryan Kellett, all of Summerville; one sister Shauna Tangemann of Summerville; paternal grandmother, Myra Harvey of Hampton; maternal grandmother, Connie Dew of Barnwell; and step-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Kellett of Charleston.
