KINSEY, Ander
WALTERBORO - Ander Louise Kinsey, 61, widow of Harvey Kinsey, Jr., died Saturday in a Walterboro hospital.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2001, in the St. John A.M.E. Church, Cottageville, SC. Burial will be in Heavenly Rest Memorial Gardens, Walterboro.
Mrs. Kinsey was born in Colleton County and was the daughter of the late Alexander Pate and Lizzie Ellen Logan Pate. She graduated from Colleton High School and Trident Technical College in Charleston. She retired from the Colleton County School District.
She was a member of St. John A.M.E. Church and served as secretary of trustee board, president of stewardess board no.3, a treasurer of the gospel choir and assistant Class Leader No. 1. She was also a member of Zeta Amicate of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority in Smoaks, SC and served as treasurer.
Surviving are two sisters, Virley Bowman and Deloris Jenkins both of Walterboro; one uncle, John Henry Logan (Janice), St. Albans, NY; two children she helped reared, Stephanie Bowman and Sylvester Bowman (Cindy), both of Walterboro; two nephews, Delacy Jenkins (Angie) and Errol Jenkins (Jackie), both of Smoaks, SC; three nieces, Brigette Oliver, Carol Richardson (Jerome) and Corelia Jenkins, all of Walterboro.

Mrs. Knight was born in Walterboro, SC, a daughter of William Benjamin Crosby and Janie Pooser Givens Crosby Hiott. She was a charter member of Pinecrest Baptist Church and Pierpont Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Edwin Robert Knight, Jr. of Charleston, SC, Grayson Carter Knight, Sr. of Johns Island, SC and Larisey Crosby Knight of Johns Island, SC; one daughter, June Knight Lane of Johns Island, SC, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Everett Benjamin Knight and a daughter, Charlotte Jane Knight.
NELSON, Gisela
Gisela Schmitz Nelson, 59, of Moncks Corner, formerly of Goose Creek, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at her home. Private services have been arranged at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL.
Mrs. Nelson was born in Frankfurt, Germany, the daughter of William and Thea Schmitz. She was retired from Santee-Cooper and was the widow of David R. Nelson.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Lee Nelson, with whom she made her home, and her daughter and son-in-law, Diana (Darrell) Dixon of Silverdale, WA and two granddaughters, Nicole and Paige Dixon.

GREGORY, SR., Woodrow
Woodrow Wilson Gregory, Sr., 82, of North Charleston, died Monday evening, October 1, 2001. The funeral service will be 2:30 o'clock Thursday, October 4, 2001 at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Stuhr funeral home this evening (Wednesday) from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
A retired foreman woodcraftsmen at Charleston Naval Shipyard, he was born in Charleston, the son of John E. and Margaret Burkett Gregory and attended school in Charleston and North Charleston. Mr. Gregory was the widower of Dorothy Carter Gregory.
Mr. Gregory was a Coast Guard veteran of WWII and a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. For nearly 50 years, he was an avid amateur radio operator with the assigned call sign of K4YYO and was a member of The American Radio Relay League (ARRL). He was a member of Northwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy E. Wright and his son, Woodrow "Woody" W. Gregory, Jr., both of North Charleston; his sister, Irene C. Churchill of Charleston, and seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

CARTER, Doris
Mrs. Doris M. Carter, 84, died September 29, 2001 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida. born March 23, 1917 in Monroe, Georgia, she moved to Bradenton in 1979 from Duncan, South Carolina. She owned Jones Toy Shop in Duncan and retired from Pacific Mills in Lyman, SC. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Greer, SC and was a member of the American Legion. She was a member of the Westside Christian Church in Bradenton.
She is survived by two daughters; Evelyn Duncan of John's Island, South Carolina and Joyce Varner of Bradenton, FL; sister Delores Robertson of Bradenton; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Two of the grandchildren and four of the great grandchildren reside in the Charleston area; Jim Duncan and his children David and John of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Jennifer Hebra and her children Alex and Andre of Isle of Palms, SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
Internment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, South Carolina at 2 PM on October 13, 2001.

Julia Grace Mazzella, infant daughter of Joel and Ashley Mazzella of Daniel Island, died Thursday, October 4, 2001 in a local hospital. The Memorial Mass will be Saturday, October 6, 2001 in Christ Our King Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, SC at 2:00 o'clock. The family will receive friends after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at J. LINN, JR., Henry
Henry "Hank" F. Linn, Jr., 63, died suddenly Tuesday, October 2, 2001 at a local hospital. born July 22, 1938 in the Bronx, NY. He was the son of the late Henry J. Linn and Pierina (Bea) Linn (nee Gigilo). Mr. Linn served in the US Marine Corps. He was employed by Delta Airlines for 33 years and retired in 1955 as the Supervisor of Maintenance. A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, was Past Grand Knight of the Donald J. Godfrey Council #6726 and an officer with Msgr. Richard C. Madden Assembly 1900. His son, Charles Linn, and sister, Gladys Agins, preceded him in death. Mr. Linn is survived by his wife Irene; son, Jeffrey Linn (wife, Deanna), Goose Creek; two daughters, Patricia Golla (husband, Patrick), Summerville and Denise Chandler (husband, David), Goose Creek; mother Pierina (Bea) Linn, N. Charleston; sister, Cathy Harrison, New Jersey; nine grandchildren, Timothy Hebert, Henry Linn, Jeremy Herbert, Stephen Linn, Christopher Linn, Kristina Linn, Michael Linn, Meghan Chandler, and MaKayla Chandler; daughter-in-law Regina Linn, Houston, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Lipe was born in Asheville, NC, a son of Frank Lipe and Rowena Goodlake Lipe. He was retired owner/manager of Lipe Sheet Metal in Charleston and was a sheet metal draftsman/planner at Charleston Naval Shipyard during WWII. He was employed for over 30 years at Charleston Sheet Metal and Roofing Company as shop manager.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Lipe Shaw of Charleston, SC; two sons, Joe H. Lipe, Jr. of Spring, TX and Jerome Grant Lipe of Spartanburg, SC; a sister, Louise Lipe Moore of Oak Ridge, TN and thirteen grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.
Mr. Lipe was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Grant Lipe and a son Frederick David "Rick" Lipe.
