FERGUSON, Neal
SMOAKS - Mr. Neal Haynes Ferguson, 70, of 16662 Hunters Chapel Road, died Thursday at a Charleston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, at Little Swamp United Methodist Church with Rev. Douglas Marchant and Rev. Dale Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Directed by the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Ferguson was born in Bamberg County, a son of the late James Corbett Ferguson and Florrie Sanders Ferguson. He was a retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Little Swamp United Methodist Church and was a Mason. He was currently working for C.O. Classen Mechanic Company as a supervisor.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Doris Miley Ferguson, a son, Neal H. Ferguson, Jr., and his wife, Rhonda of Walterboro, a daughter, Sherril L. Shingler and her husband, Larry of Eutawville, a step-son, Terry Kinard of Georgia, sisters, Barbara Jane Buchanan of Columbia, and Mary Miles of Olar, a brother, Spencer Ferguson of Bamberg, six grandchildren, Carey Anne Bilton, Lana Maryland Vasquez, Kelly Ann Ferguson, Senior Airman (Sr) Derek Neal Vasquez, April Nareda Carter, and Quin Hayes Kinard, and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m., Friday, at the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME.
LITCHFIELD, Catherine
Catherine Hinnant Litchfield, 74, of Northbridge Court, Moncks Corner, SC, a former seamstress and widow of Cleavie H. Litchfield died Thursday in a Charleston hospital.

Mrs. Litchfield was born October 6, 1927, in Macedonia, SC, a daughter of Cornelius Hinnant and Mary Litchfield Hinnant. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Surviving are three daughters, Shelvia Popecki of Interlachen, FL, Lorine Just of Bonneau and Judy Ard of Alvin; two sons, Raymond Litchfield and Allen Litchfield both of Macedonia; two sisters, Barbara Tyrrell of Charleston and Celia Harris of Hawthorne, FL; one brother, Arthur Hinnant of Hazlehurst, GA; nineteen grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Moses Brown, Jr., 58, of 126 Maple Hill Rd., Harleyville, SC died Monday, October 8, 2001 at a Charleston hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001 at the Ling Funeral Home located at 5580 Memorial Blvd., St. George with Elder Al Dashnaw of the Summerville South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. The family hour will be held Friday evening, October 12, 2001, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ling Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown was born December 22, 1942 in Charleston, SC, a son of Mrs. Minnie Jackson and the late Moses Brown, Sr. He was a graduate of Jenkins Hill High School of Harleyville, SC. He attended the Summerville South Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and was a retired truck driver. He was joined in Holy Matrimony on July 19, 1960 with Ms. Corrie Summers. This union was blessed with four sons.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Mrs. Corrie Bell Summers Brown of Harleyville, SC; four sons, Nathaniel (Cathy) Brown and Michael (Stephanie) Brown all of Harleyville, SC, Moses (Danielle) Brown III of Dorchester, SC and Derrick (Lori) Brown of Hanahan, SC; his beloved mother, Mrs. Minnie Jackson of Harleyville, SC; two brothers, Andrew Brown of Oregon and Scott Bernard Jackson of Summerville, SC; two sisters, Mrs. Deloris Turner of Bronx, NY and Mrs. Lida Preden of Staten Island, NY. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
CROSSLAND, Hazel
ANDERSON - Mrs. Hazel Cathey Willingham Crossland, wife of F. Milton Crossland of 600 Glenwood Avenue, Anderson, SC, died Thursday, October 10, 2001 at her residence.
born in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Claude Lee Cathey and the late Duber Hilliard Cathey. Mrs. Crossland was a retired Real Estate Agent, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Outreach Entertainers. She was a volunteer for The American Red Cross during World War II and was a former den mother for the Cub Scouts of America, Anderson Chapter. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Anderson where she was also a member of the Baracca Sunday School Class.
Surviving is her husband, F. Milton Crossland of the home; son, George L. Willingham and wife, Jean of Anderson; two sisters, Nobia Mauldin and Mary Lou Walker Burriss, both of Anderson; grandson, Stephen Willingham and wife, Charmaine of Mt. Pleasant, SC; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Erwin Willingham of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, the late George T. Willingham; a brother, Reece Cathey and two sisters, Lillian Sease and Ina Kay and a great-grandson, Lawton Lee Willingham.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2001 at the New Silverbrook cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Hayes officiating.

He was C.E. Murray High School Class of 2000. He was a student at Midland Technical College, Columbia, SC. He was employed by Carolina Children's Home as a resident driver.
Mr. Giles was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a church usher.

Peggy Ann Chocklette, age 52, died Wednesday, October 10, 2001, in a Loris, SC, hospital. She was a native of Columbus County, NC and the daughter of the late Belton and Marie Ward Coleman. She was the widow of James "Jimmy" Travis Chocklette.

Dean Clark Craven, 36, of North Charleston, an employee of Dunes West, died Saturday at his home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. born in Charleston, he was the son of Burrell R. Craven and Ruth Arnold Craven. Mr. Craven was a member of Dorchester-Waylyn Baptist Church.
