RISHER, JR., William
William W. Risher, II, 72, died on Thursday, October 11, on Kiawah Island, S.C. born in Charleston to Viola Henderson Wilbert and the late William W. Risher. He was a graduate of the Citadel and received his masters from the University of Maryland. Mr. Risher served his country as a Lt. in the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Comptroller for the U.S. Federal Government. Mr. Risher was also a member of St. Michaels Episcopal Church. He is survived by his mother, Viola Henderson Wilbert of Orlando, Fla.; son William Risher and a daughter, Harriet Risher, both of Columbia, S.C., and a sister, Barbara Risher Smith of Orlando, Fla. The family will receive friends, Sunday, October 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth St. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, October 15, in the funeral home chapel. PHILLIPS, Maggie
Loma E. "Maggie" Phillips, 78, of Hwy. 402, Moncks Corner, S.C., a former attendant at Dick's Station, died Friday afternoon in a Charleston hospital.

Mrs. Phillips was born August 30, 1923, in Camden, S.C., a daughter of Brooks T. Williams and Rosa Cook Williams. She was a member of the Santee Circle Community Church. She is the owner of Maggie's Bait and Tackle.
Surviving are, her husband, Leo L. Phillips; one daughter, Rose Marie Hatcher of Wilmington, N.C.; four sons, C. Fulton Walton of Florence, Earl G. Walton of Patrick, Ralph Phillips of Summerville, and Danny Phillips of Columbia; two sisters, Elizabeth Lackey of Camden, and Dorothy Knotts of Winnsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Delton Williams of Wilmington, N.C., and Edward Williams of Myrtle Beach; 14 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

MAUNEY, Mary Frances
CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. D.R. Mauney, Jr., age 87, of 301 Old Post Road, Cherryville, N.C., died Wednesday, October 10, 2001, at a Charleston hospital. She was a native of Hickory, N.C., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitfield Bagby. Retired from the Gaston County Schools System, she was head of the Cherryville Guidance Department. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, David Rudisill Mauney, Jr., a sister, Mrs. Frankie Bagby Setzer of Shelby, N.C., a brother, Charles A. Bagby, of Hickory, N.C.
She carved out a life of exemplary service to her home, community, church and employment, member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Cherryville, N.C., 50 years service to Pioneer Council, Troop Leader and Senior Leader of Girl's and Brownie Scouts, NCEA, graduated from Hickory's Claremont Central High, Lenoir Rhyne College, Cum Laude, Appalachian State University, graduate school, UNC Chapel Hill Master's Degree, Gaston College, real estate, member of N.C. Association of Realtors, public school teacher, Sunday School teacher. Despite her strong interest and participation in community endeavors and her professional achievements, Mrs. Mauney saw herself first as a wife and mother, listing those jobs as her chief occupation.
Survivors are, four daughters, Mrs. Troy (Martha) Moses, of Dalton, Ga., Caroline Mauney, Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Mrs. Ronald (Anna Catherine) Spence, Virginia Beach, Va., Mrs. John (Harriet) Cordray, Jr., Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, David Phillips, Kay Phillips, Lura and Rodney Cummings, all of Dalton, Ga., Carson Spence, of Virginia Beach, Va., John William Cordray, III, of Charleston, S.C.; great-grandchildren, David Luke Phillips and Ian Thomas Cummings, both of Dalton, Ga.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, October 14, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cherryville, with Rev. Luther Roof and Rev. Harold K. Skinner officiating. Burial will be in the Mauney Family Plot of the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home, Saturday, October 13, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

HOLLY HILL - Mrs. Louise Barfield Mitchum, 84, of 119 Preston Road, Holly Hill, S.C., died Friday at her home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 14, 2 p.m., at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Holly Hill, S.C. Rev. Venning Long, Rev. Barry Owens, and Rev. Mike Lowry will officiate. Burial in church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
Mrs. Mitchum was born February 9, 1917, in Lake City, S.C., a daughter of the late Patrick Barfield and Mrs. Minnie Welch Barfield. She was a Baptist and the widow of Steve Mitchum.
Survivors include, six daughters, Mrs. Pearline Koone of Reddick, Fla., Mrs. Myrtle Robinson of Moncks Corner, Mrs. Rebecca Barrickman of Ridgeville, Mrs. Linda Henderson of High Point, N.C., Mrs. Stella Roden of Anthony, Fla., and Mrs. Evelyn Cook of Moncks Corner; two sons, Heyward Mitchum of Orange Lake, Fla., and Steve B. Mitchum of Ravenel; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Parker of Kingstree; 38 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

ROWELL, John
Mr. John Everett Rowell, 74, of 304 Catterton Lane, Yemassee, died Friday afternoon in the Harper Nursing Center in Estill, after an extended illness.
Mr. Rowell was born in Clyo, Ga., May 19, 1927, and had retired from Cooper Industries as a Supervisor. He was a Navy Veteran and was a member of the Calf Pen Hunting Club in Yemassee. He was the son of the late Nina R. Runnion of Hampton.
Private Memorial services will be held at a later date.

GREELEYVILLE - Eloise Dennis Miller, 79, wife of Melvin Miller, Sr., died Friday at a Kingstree hospital.
born May 4, 1922, in Greeleyville, she was a daughter of the late Cokley and Molsie Wilson Dennis. She was retired from Kingstree Manufacturing Co., and was a member of Greeleyville Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving besides her husband of Greeleyville, are a son, Melvin T. "Tommy" Miller, Jr., of Greeleyville; a daughter, Carolyn McKnight of Greeleyville; a sister, Cora Gamble White of Greeleyville; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Brown; two grandchildren, Roger Brown and Sherri Osborne.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, at Greeleyville Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Freddie Gaymon and Rev. Darrel Langston will officiate. Burial will follow in Greeleyville Freewill Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, at Stephens Funeral Home, Manning, and at other times at the residence in Greeleyville.

Entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of October 11, 2001, Wanda Addison Creech, widow of Willard Francis Creech. Residence, Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Creech was born September 10, 1926, in Summerville, S.C., the daughter of William Preston Addison, Jr., and Mamie Rhode Addison. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a member of the Clyburn Guild. Her years of employment included Southern Bell, Roper Hospital, Yaschik Mortgage Company, Grimball and Cabaniss, Attorneys at law and South Carolina National Bank. She was a member of Elizabeth Temple #2 Pythian Sisters.
She is survived by two sisters, Madge A. Crosby of Round O, S.C., and Mary A. Adams of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, George Allen Addison of Round O, S.C. Her daughter, Deborah Sparks LeGette, predeceased her.
