WALLACE, Florence
GEORGETOWN - Florence O. "Flo" Wallace, 68, of Lakewood Ave., died Tuesday morning, October 16, 2001, at a Charleston hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2001, at the Church of the Nazarene of Georgetown. Burial directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKENZIE FUNERAL HOME, will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening, October 17, 2001, beginning at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wallace was born January 27, 1933, in Georgetown County, a daughter of Willie Haun and Rena Bourne Haun. She was the owner and operator of Flo's Fashions; a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Georgetown where she served on the church board and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a Christian example.
She was predeceased by a grandson, John Robert Strueber.
Surviving in addition to her husband, John Henry Wallace of Georgetown, are, one son, John Willie "Johnny" Wallace of Charleston; two daughters, Wanda W. Holt and her husband, Wendell, of Georgetown, and Gloria W. Strueber and her husband, Dan, of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Howell was born June 11, 1935, in Perdido, Ala., the son of Rudolph Howell and Mary Maholivich Howell. He was a Baptist. Chief Howell had served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict and the Viet Nam War and served a total of 22 years military service and a member of the V.F.W. American Legion.
Surviving are his sons, Colin P. Howell of Goose Creek, S.C., Jon B. Howell of Memphis, Tenn., Cade M. Howell of Goose Creek, S.C.; daughters, Arlene Stillson of Greensboro, N.C., Jetta R. Howell of Goose Creek, S.C.; brother, David Howell of Mobile, Ala.; sisters, Helen Fontaine of Repton, Ala., Lil Haynes of Wilmer, Texas, Eyelene Pock of Walnut Hill, Fla., and Faye LaFlore of Satsuma, Ala.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

HOLMES, Joan
Miss Joan Virlie Holmes, 61, of 1209 Crestview, North Augusta, S.C., died Monday evening in a North Augusta health care facility after an extended illness.
Miss Holmes was born in Laurens, S.C., June 1, 1940, a daughter of the late Joseph Simpson Holmes and Virlie Vaughan Holmes. Miss Holmes was a former school teacher and had retired from the Aiken County School District as the Speech Pathologist Director. She was a graduate of Winthrop University, and received her Masters Degree from the University of South Carolina. She was a member of the North Augusta Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are, two brothers, Harold Vaughan Holmes of Lacy's Spring, Ala., and Paul Joseph Holmes of Yemassee. There are three nieces and four nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, in the Sandy Run Baptist Church in Hampton County, with burial in the Sandy Run cemetery, directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME IN HAMPTON.

Mrs. Riley was born in Columbia, S.C., the daughter of Peter K. Xepapas and Angeline Janetos Xepapas. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Columbia, S.C. She attended the University of South Carolina, School of Art and Arts Students League in New York City. She studied music and dance and was an accomplished pianist. She was the recipient of two Andrew Carnegie gold medals in Art. She was a member of local Artist Guilds and the former choir director of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Columbia, S.C.
She is survived by her husband of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Mary X. Pappas of Burlington, Vt.; and one brother-in-law, Guy H. Eargle in Prosperity, S.C.
