Thomas Preston Polk, 67, of Moncks Corner, SC, a retired millwright for Daniels Construction, died Friday in a Summerville hospital.
The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will be in Berkeley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2001.
Mr. Polk was born Sept. 18, 1934, in Islandton, SC, a son of Lotus Winfred Polk and Ornie Ready Polk. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Islandton. He was a mason. He was preceded in death by two brothers, F. Gordon Polk and Hensley L. Polk. He attended Clemson University.
Surviving are his wife, Arnree Stanley Polk; two daughters, Loretta Lynn Polk Seprish of Summerville and Wanda Gordon Krupinski of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Steven P. Polk of Gaston and Winfred Lotus Gordon of Brevard, NC; and two grandchildren, BobbiAnn L. Polk and Chase Bryan Phillips.
HOFFMAN, Juanita
Juanita Elizabeth McInerny Hoffman, age 72, of Sullivan's Island, died Monday, October 15, 2001 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Hoffman was born on November 7, 1928 the daughter of Joseph Schroeder McInerny, Sr. and Simmie Elizabeth Harrell. She graduated from Moultrie High School and Rice Business College. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. Mrs. Hoffman, a Catholic, worked as supply clerk for the Charleston Air Force Base. When asked by her niece what kind of work she did, she stated that she "shoveled coal and swept the floors!"
The relatives and friends of Mrs. Hoffman are invited to attend a Memorial Service for the former at 12 noon Saturday, October 20, at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, EAST COOPER CHAPEL, 1520 Rifle Range Rd., Mt. Pleasant, 884-3833. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens cemetery following the ceremony.
Mrs. Hoffman is survived by one brother, Joseph Schroeder McInerny, Jr. of Charleston, a niece Elizabeth McInerny Tanner of Meritt Island, FL, a nephew Joseph Schroeder McInerny, III of Covington, GA, two grandnieces and one grandnephew.
Memorial contributions may be made to Palmetto Hospice, 1815 Old Trolley Rd., Suite 109, Summerville, SC, 29483.
DEAS, JR., Ernest
The relatives and friends of Mr. Ernest Deas, Jr. of Moncks Corner, formerly of Charleston, SC are invited to attend his memorial services Monday, October 22, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at GETHERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 200 Grace Street, Moncks Corner, SC. Burial will be private.
Mr. Deas, son of the late Mr. Ernest Deas and Mrs. Izetta Davis Deas, departed this life October 15, 2001. Surviving are his siblings, Henry Deas and Matie Delores Costen; special cousins, Loretta D. Salley and Daniel Davis.
Compassionate and caring services have been entrusted to GETHERS FUNERAL HOME, Moncks Corner.
DAVIS, Merle
EUTAWVILLE - Mrs. Merle Hancock Davis, 80, of 201 Appaloosa Ct., Eutawville, died Friday in a Charleston hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2001 in the First Baptist Church, Eutawville with the Rev. Mike Thompson and Rev. John Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville cemetery. Friends may call at AVINGER FUNERAL HOME, Holly Hill, from 6 to 8 p.m. this Saturday, October 20, 2001.
Mrs. Davis was born in Starr, GA, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest P. Livingston. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church, Eutawville and was first married
to the late Hoyle H. Hancock.
Surviving are her husband, John Frank Davis of the home; daughter, Mrs. Lynn Kaskin of Eutawville; son, Keith H. Hancock of Hartsville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

WARREN, Naomi
West Columbia - Services for Naomi Sample Warren, 72, of West Columbia, will be held at 3 pm Sunday at West Side Baptist Church, conducted by Reverend John McKeown, with burial at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be the members of Fay Hammond Sunday School Class. Honorary pallbearers will be the Mary Adkins Sunday School Class. Visitations will be from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME of Lexington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME of Lexington. Mrs. Warren died Thursday, October 18, 2001. born in Joanna, she was the daughter of the late B. Frank and Mattie Koon Sample. A longtime member of West Side Baptist Church and the Mary Adkins Sunday School Class, she served in many positions of leadership in the church activities. She was a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and was loved by many.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Thomas A. Warren, Jr.; her sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas A. Warren III of West Columbia and J. Eric and Kathy Warren of Lexington; her grandsons, Matthew and Drey Warren, both of Lexington, and her granddaughter, Hannah Warren of Lexington.
MILNER, Olice Lee
Entered into eternal rest the morning of October 19, 2001, at his residence, Olice Lee Milner, widower of Mecie Wilson Milner. Residence, White Oak, SC, formerly of Charleston. Graveside funeral services will be held in Live Oak Memorial Gardens Sunday, October 21, 2001 at 3:30 p.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, IN.C, NORTH AREA CHAPEL. born May 23, 1910 in Ocilla, Georgia, Mr. Milner was the son of the late Seabrum Harold Milner and Beulah Milner. He was a retired electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Milner was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia and taught Sunday School for fourteen years.
Surviving Mr. Milner are a daughter, Sandra M. Ayoub of Chapin, SC; a son, Harold T. Milner of Missouri; three grandchildren, Amanda Glowacki of Columbia, SC, Tony Ayoub of Chapin, SC and Dina Carter of Charleston and seven great-grandchildren.
