Corinne Sweeny Moss, 81, widow of Alfred Earl Moss, Sr. of Mount Pleasant, SC died Friday, October 19th at her residence. Mrs. Moss was born February 19, 1920 in Anderson, SC the daughter of Francis Raymond Sweeny and Fannie Corinne Oliver. Mrs. Moss was a graduate of Converse College. She stayed active in her community as a member of the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder. She was an avid bridge player and gardener, a member of The Mayflower Society, Quis Qui Auxiliary and a Pelican Lady. The relatives and friends of Corinne Moss are invited to attend her funeral service Tuesday, October 23 at 11 AM in Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Bethany cemetery, Charleston. Mrs. Barbara Erlene Shaw Barnes, 68, of 410 Co-Op Road in Hampton, died Saturday morning in the Hampton Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.Mrs. Barnes was born in Hampton County, August 14, 1933 a daughter of the late Earl Wilson Shaw and Ida Marie Gould Shaw. Mrs. Barnes had retired as a Clerical Supervisor with the Hampton Department of Social Services. She was a member of the Skeeter Scratchers Camping Club in Hampton, and she was a member and Sunday School Teacher at the West End Baptist Church. Surviving are: her husband, Warren Rivers Barnes of Hampton; one son, Warren R. Barnes Jr. of West Columbia; one daughter, Linda Williams of Allendale; one sister, Frances S. Bennett of Varnville; one half brother, Owen Wilson Shaw of Charleston; one sister-in-law, Willie Lee Barnes of Hampton; and four grandchildren, Kimberly Marie Barnes, Leigh Ann Barnes, Lisa Marie Williams, and Christine Anne Williams.Funeral Services will be 11 AM Monday in the West End Baptist Church in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Buddy Presley and Rev. Mrs. Johnston was born January 21, 1923 in Greenville, SC a daughter of Robert Earl Dill and Pearl Crawley Few Dill. She was a graduate of Greenville High School and studied music at Furman University. After her retirement as a bookkeeper for Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service she was Organist and Choir Director and served as Chairman of Methodist Women and on Administrative Board at St. George United Methodist Church. She was a piano teacher, staff organist for Bryant Funeral Home and was pianist for Indian Field Campmeeting for 43 years. She was Past-Worthy Matron, Past District Deputy, State Organist and marshal for St. George Chapter #166 Order of Eastern Star. She was the widow of John B. "Red" Johnston, Jr. Surviving are 3 sons: Robert Earl "Bobby" Johnston and Joe David Johnston, both of St. George, Roger Timothy Johnston, Sr., Reevesvile, SC. A stepson, John B. He was a deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a Brotherhood President and a member of the First Baptist Church of Andrews.Surviving are his wife, Brenda Caroline M. Wildes of Andrews; a son, Jeffrey Dean Wildes of Georgetown; two daughters, Tracy W. McCants of Andrews; and Dianna W. Deese of Conyers, GA; a brother, Carl M. Wildes of Andrews; and a sister, Jeneal W. Morce of Andrews; eight grandchildren.
