FURSE, Virginia
INGLIS, FL - Mrs. Virginia R. Furse, 96, widow of the late William J. Furse, died Monday in Inglis, Florida after an extended illness.
Mrs. Furse was born in Luray (Hampton County) April 16, 1905, a daughter of the late Jake and Elizabeth Rouse. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beech Branch Baptist Church in Luray.
Surviving are one son, William J. Furse, Jr. of Inglis, Florida; one brother, Dan Rouse of Luray; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, graveside in the Beech Branch cemetery near Luray, conducted by Rev. Phillip Latta and directed by PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton.
Friends may call at the home of Mrs. Mary Eleanor Rouse in Luray until the hour of services Friday morning.

ATWOOD, Becky
Mrs. Becky Atwood, 82, of 344 Gooding Street in Varnville, died Monday afternoon in a Beaufort hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Atwood was born in Findlay, Ohio August 29, 1919, a daughter of the late Dr. Troy Adams Spitler and Cara LaVerne Beck Spitler. She along with her late husband, Robert Miller Atwood, had owned and operated a Gift Shop in Deerfield Beach, Florida. She had been very active in local Civic Organizations, including the Wil Mila Ladies Group in Hampton, the local Prison Ministry, and was a member of the Community Faith Fellowship Church in Hampton.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia A. and James Blume of Hampton, Margo A. and Richard H. Gay of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. There are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of PEEPLES-RHODEN FUNERAL HOME in Hampton, with private burial in the Varnville cemetery. Friends may call at the home on 344 Gooding Street in Varnville, from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday.

DANTZLER, Gladys
MANNING - Gladys Virginia Dantzler, 97, widow of Harold Leroy Dantzler, died Monday at her home in Manning.
born April 27, 1904 in Norfolk, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Howell and Carrie Sears Bobbitt. She lived for many years in Hickory, NC, Conestee Falls, NC, and Moncks Corner, SC. She was a retired antiques dealer, former member of Business and Professional Women of Moncks Corner, Berkeley County Historical Society, lifelong Presbyterian, and a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church, PCA.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ardis and her husband Herman of Manning; one sister, Dorothy Lash of Clinton, Maryland; four grandchildren, Jerry and Thomas Riley of Ridgeville, Virginia Bailey of Memphis, TN, and Amy Ellery of Carson, Nevada; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Betty Dantzler of Athens, GA.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Dantzler, Jr., three brothers, Thomas, Robert and Willard Bobbitt, and one sister, Elizabeth Campbell.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 25, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in the New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Manning. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Berkeley Memorial Gardens in Moncks Corner. Rev. Charles C. Tyler will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter. Memorials may be made to New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2833 Alex Harvin Hwy., Manning, SC, 29102.

Joseph Anthony McMasters, 64, died Saturday, October 20, 2001, at his residence on the Isle of Palms. born in Boston, Mass., he was the son of John D. McMasters and Mary Mooney McMasters. He was a graduate of Dorchester High School of Boston, Mass. He was a member of the United States Guard Auxiliary for many years and the United States Marine Corps. Reserve, and a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant, S.C. He was retired from Charleston County Schools Maintenance Department. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and model airplanes. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Ann Babb McMasters. Mr. McMasters is survived by his daughter, Jodi Ann McMasters of Charleston, S.C., formerly of Boston, Mass., one brother, Raymond McMasters, of Boston, Mass., two sisters, Margaret Doyle of Fairfield, Conn., and Dorothy Power of Ladylake, Fla., many nieces and nephews and special friends, Marilyn Taylor and William C. WIGHTMAN, Alice
Alice Porter Wightman, 84, of Moncks Corner, SC, wife of William S. Wightman, died Thursday, October 18, 2001, in a Moncks Corner hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, October 25, 2001, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Mrs. Wightman was born April 21, 1917, in Higganum, Conn., a daughter of Mable Davis Porter and Whitney Scovil Porter. She graduated from schools in Higganum and Middletown, CN, and from Sergeant College of Boston University with a degree in physical therapy. She served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II with the Yale Unit of the 39th general hospital in the South Pacific for three years at hospitals in New Zealand, New Caledonia, and Saipan. She accompanied her husband during his employment with Albany International on his work assignments in France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Brazil, and South Africa. She was a member of the Women's Memorial in Washington, DC.
Surviving are her husband, William S. Wightman; one daughter, Prudence J. Sloane of Salem, CN; one son, W. Porter Wightman of Norwood, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Heather J. Daley, Janet Wightman, and Spencer Whitney Sloane.
