ST. GEORGE - Mr. David Edward "Eddie" Rickborn, 86, died Wednesday. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 27, 2001 at Old Saint George Baptist Church cemetery. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. David L. Mr. Burnsed was born July 30, 1937 in Charleston, SC, the son of Lester Farley Burnsed and LeVeta Dukes Burnsed. He was a member of New Beginnings Community Church, the Fraternal Order of Police Tri-county Lodge #3 and the S.C. Law Enforcement Officers Association. He was a graduate of Rivers High School and a retired Sr. Sgt. Charleston County Police Department.
He is survived by his wife of James Island, SC; his mother of James Island, SC; two sons: D. Lewis Burnsed and his wife, Susan of James Island and L. Burk Burnsed of James Island; two brothers: Robert L. Burnsed of Charleston, SC and William F. Burnsed of Summerville, SC and two granddaughters: Nikki Smith and Bethany Burnsed.

MCELVEEN, L. Wendell
CADES - Mr. Lawrence Wendell McElveen, 73, died Wednesday, October 24, 2001, in a Lake City hospital after an illness.
Mr. McElveen was born in Williamsburg County, a son of the late J. Ralph and Jessie Smith McElveen. He was a graduate of Hebron High School and attended Clemson University. He retired from Life of Georgia as Staff Manager after 37 hears and retired as Williamsburg County Magistrate also after 37 years. He was a life-long member of Hebron United Methodist Church where he had held various offices in the church over the years. He was chairman of the Hebron Recreation Committee since its inception, a former member of the Lake City Lions Club, member of Prosser's Prayer Breakfast Club, Methodist Men's Club of Hebron United Methodist Church, Hardee's Afternoon Coffee Club, and an Army veteran. He was married
first to the late Anease Barrineau McElveen.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Shaw McElveen of Cades; two sons, Roger W. (Nancy) McElveen and Charles E. McElveen, both of Cades; two daughters, Julie (Charles) Newell of Myrtle Beach and Barbara (Steve) Beerer of Walhalla; five grandchildren, Jamie, Chris and Chelsey McElveen, Amanda Rylander and Cy Floyd; two sisters, Elena (Francis) McElveen of Olanta and Jean (Ralph) Abreo of Aiken; three nieces; three step-children, Michael (Jackie) Shaw of Conway, Pam (Frank) Wilburn of Stone Mountain, GA, Charles (Joettee) Shaw of Anchorage, Alaska; three step-grandchildren, Brian Shaw of Conway, Margie Norwood of Stone Mountain, GA, and Trey Norwood of Marietta, GA. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Jay McElveen and Christy Floyd.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2001, in the Hebron United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

MCGUIRT, J.B.
Well known business and community leader J. B. McGuirt died Wednesday, October 24, 2001. He had been actively engaged in the farming, construction, real estate and insurance business in Kershaw County and Camden for almost 70 years. He was born in the Van Wyke Community of Lancaster County on February 10, 1914, the son of William Price McGuirt and Flonnie Walters McGuirt. He was educated in the public schools of Lancaster and Kershaw Counties. He moved to Camden, S.C. at the age of 16 where he met and later married
Annie Blake Kelly on October 21, 1934. They had three children: James Blake McGuirt, Charles William McGuirt, and Elizabeth Ann McGuirt Ellis. Annie Blake died February 2, 1982, and on March 3, 1984 he married
Jean Twitty Marshall, widow of G. F. Marshall, Jr. Jean has two daughters, Cecilia Johnson of Easley and Martha Wyrick of Camden.
Mr. McGuirt was a past President of the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the advisory board of the First National Bank of South Carolina at Camden and on the advisory board of the Kershaw County Memorial Hospital Board, part of that time as Chairman. Other activities included the Kiwanis Club, the Golden K Club, and President of the Quaker cemetery Association. He was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, where he had served on the Board of Stewards and as a Sunday School Teacher.
He was a Past President of the Camden Shrine Club and a Past Master of Kershaw, Lodge 29. In addition to many other state offices, he was installed as Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of A.F.M. of South Carolina in 1979, and served two consecutive terms.
In 1981 his family was chosen as the S.C. Family of the year.
In addition to the family members mentioned above, he is survived by two sisters, Peggy Clyburn and Olive Lee of Camden, seven grandchildren, five step grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one step great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a brother Lawson and a sister, Willene Mayer Rigdon.
Funeral services will be held at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church at 3 o'clock, on Saturday, October 27, 2001, with burial at Quaker cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Kershaw Lodge #29 Temple located on Highway 97, Friday, October 26, from 6 until 7:30 p.m.

Paula A. Bick, age 51, formerly of 5616 Bingham Drive, Portsmouth, Virginia 23703. She died Wednesday, October 24, 2001 at 2:40 pm. in a local hospital in Portsmouth, VA.
Paul Bick was born on April 27, 1950 in Butler, PA. She is the daughter of Sam Zamoski and Edith Runchka. She is the wife of Edward A. Bick. She was a member of Congregation B'Nai Abraham. She was also a member of Slippery Rock University Alumni Association Chapter No.20 Order of Eastern Star in Charleston, South Carolina.
Survivors are husband, Edward A. Bick, whom she married
November 3, 1976; mother, Edith Zamoski, Butler, PA., sister, Mrs. Ben (Ruth) Holtzman, Lower Burrell, PA., sister-in-law, Mrs. Carolyn Bick Richardson, Raleigh, North Carolina, number of nieces and nephews.
