Mrs. McLean was a graduate of Lakewood High School and Heidleberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. She was a member of the Eleanor Laurens Pickney Daughters of the American Revolution and was a past member of the Columbia Women's Club. She was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia where she taught Sunday school for many years and was an associate member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. William E. and Frances McLean of Charleston, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Elise M. and Dr. Jim Muscott of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, Angela Wishart, Susan E. McLean, Will E. McLean, Jr., James R. Muscott, Dorothy C. Muscott; five great-grandchildren and two brothers, Dr. John B. Hursh of Green Valley, AZ and William Hursh of Tucson, AZ. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret H. Frazier.

FAIRFAX - Mrs. Eliza "Tootsie" Cope, 56, of 3231 Ulmer Rd. in Fairfax, died Thursday evening at the Allendale County Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Cope was born in Allendale County, July 22, 1945 the daughter of the late Johnny Steed and Inez Steed. She was married
to Charles Cope, Jr., a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Surviving besides her husband are: 2 brothers, Johnny Steed and Jimmy Steed both of Barnwell; 3 sisters, Yuanita Crosby, Kathline Still and Polly Sheapard all of Barnwell.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the Bethel cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the family's residence. Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Connie Simpao Tingin, 21, of Goose Creek, a senior at the University of South Carolina majoring in fashion design, died Thursday in a Charleston hospital.
A funeral mass will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens on Sunday. born in Bermuda, she was the daughter of Romeo Q. Tingin and Concesa Guanlao Tingin. Miss Tingin was a member of the University of South Carolina Color Guard. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goose Creek. Survivors include her parents of Goose Creek; a brother, Romel S. Tingin of Bethesda, Maryland.

Mrs. Corley was born January 7, 1905, in Orangeburg, S.C., a daughter of the late Thomas Alexander Salley and Anna Virginia Summers Salley. She was the widow of the late Malvin L. Jackson and the late Samuel R. Corley. She was a graduate of Orangeburg High School and Winthrop College. Mrs. Corley served as a Business Manager for the Orangeburg City Schools for 15 years and was a former member of the Orangeburg Presbyterian Church and Orangeburg Historical Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Francis Pelzer Barry (Mickey) of Summerville, two step-daughters, Mrs. Cary C. Clark and Mrs. Mackey C. Salley, a sister, Virginia S. Thomas Talmadge Hill, of 887 Bracken Road, died October 25, 2001, after an extended illness.born in Greenville County on May 29, 1916, he was a son of the late Alfred Sanders and Othella Nelson Hill.
Mr. Hill retired from American Equipment Company, a division of Fluor Daniel, and was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Nettie Sue Brown Hill, in 1987.
Surviving are three children, James and Joyce Gerlach Hill of Summerville, Jean and Lowell T. Boyd of Waxhaw, N.C., and Jo Ann and Dan McDaniel of Greenville. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Timothy J. Paolone of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., two sons, Michael Paolone and Collin Paolone, both of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., her mother, Margaret T. Massey of Albuquerque, N.M., and three brothers, John Massey, Jim Massey, and Joe Massey, all of Albuquerque, N.M., and one sister, Judy Verzino of Los Alamos, N.M.

AVANT, Timothy
Mr. Timothy Todd Avant, 38, of Charlotte, died October 25, 2001, at a local hospital. Memorial service is 2 p.m., Monday, October 29, at Hankins & Whittington Dilworth Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Avant was born December 31, 1962, in Walterboro, S.C., son of F.W. Avant of Cross Hill, S.C., and Naomi Ridge of Bamberg, S.C.
Mr. Avant was a graduate of R.B. Stall High School in Charleston, S.C., and Winthrop College and a member of the National Guard. Todd was the owner and operator of A Dry Cleaners. He attended Forest Hill Presbyterian Church. Todd was a devoted husband, and son, and was loved by his friends and family.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife Sheila Wilson Avant, of Charlotte, sister, Teresa Brady of Greenville, S.C.; brother-in-law, John Brady, niece, Mary Katelyn Brady, and nephew, Brooks Brady, all of Greenville, S.C.
