THOMPSON, Samuel
Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 27, 2001. Mr. Samuel "Kitty, T.J." Thompson, Jr. Residence 7679 Hwy 17 North, Awendaw, SC. Mr. Thomas was 77 years old and a retired printer for the Post and Courier and Allied Printing Company. He was the devoted husband of Mrs. Lucille Deas Thompson. He was the son of Mr. Samuel Thompson, Sr. and the late Mrs. Cecilia Manigault Thompson. The step-son of Mrs. Mary Alice Thompson. He was the devoted father of Ms. Lillian Brown, Mrs. Cecilia Ann T. Grubb (Lee), Mr. Kirby Thompson, Ms. Pamela Barnes, Mr. Darrell Thompson, Mr. Bobby Steed, Ms. Barbara Green and Ms. Vermateen Mitchell. The loving brother of Mr. Tennyson Thompson (Pat), Mr. Gerald Thompson (Laurel), Mr. Clayton Thompson and Mrs. Carolyn T. Andrews (Willie). The nephew of Mr. Isaac Thompson. ROSS, Fledner
Fledner Ross, 85, formerly of Summerville, SC, died October 22, 2001 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey. She was a retired homemaker from the Presbyterian Home in Summerville, SC. She was a member of Weldon Chapter #125 Order of Eastern Star and Pauline Court #620 Heroines of Jericho. As a member of St. Daniel United Methodist Church, Harleyville, SC she served as a member of the Trustee Board, Senior Choir, Gospletts, Sunday School and United Methodist Women. She later joined Bethel AME Church, Asbury Park, NJ, under watchcare. Her husband of 52 years, Sammie Ross died in 1994. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law Alfred and Jessie Ross of Alexandria, VA; daughter and son-in-law Pernice and Robert Joiner of Neptune, NJ with whom she lived; two sisters Irene Coburn of Harleyville, SC and Louvenia Smith of Hartford, CN; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. The last religious rites fro Mrs. Fledner Ross will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2001, 1 o'clock in the afternoon at St. Daniel United Methodist Church, Two Churches Road, Harleyville, SC. Rev. Marvin Bennett, Pastor. Interment Dorchester cemetery. Remains will lie in state at the Church from 11 o'clock until 1 o'clock. JENKINS, Julia
Entered into eternal rest on October 25, 2001. Mrs. Julia Wright, the beloved wife of the late Mr. Thomas Jenkins, sister of the late Deacon Christopher Wright. HELFRICH, Carl
Carl G. Helfrich, 94, of Hanahan, SC died Saturday, October 27 at a local nursing home. He was born in Biblis, Germany to the late Johann and Teresa Gansman Helfrich. Mr. Helfrich was an avid motorcycle lover and retired from Harley Davidson. He served in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran. Mr. Helfrich was survived by his beloved niece, Elizabeth Huba Defendi and husband Frank of Hanahan, and many great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 30th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goose Creek. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. there at the church. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be sent to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Building Fund, 510 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445.

MARSHE, Richard
Richard K. Marshe, 43, of Folly Beach died Friday, October 26th at his residence. born in Jacksonville, Florida to Frederic B. Marshe, Sr., and Joan Dursse Marshe. Mr. Marshe attended Charleston schools and was of the Catholic faith. He was a painting contractor and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Kathleen Mendes. His father, Frederic B. Marshe, Sr., of Jacksonville, FL, mother Joan Dursse Marshe of Charleston, brother, Frederic B. Marshe, Jr., of Charleston, sister, Lizbeth K. Marshe of Charleston, aunt, Carmel D. Couche of Charleston uncles, Jules A. Dursse and Gerald L. Dursse both of Charleston survive him. A Memorial Service will be held 3 pm Tuesday, October 30th at MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 150 Wentworth St. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 267 Calhoun St., Charleston, SC 29401.

The relatives and friends of Guyman H. "Pete" Stillinger, husband of Judy G. Stillinger, are invited to attend his funeral service, this morning at 11 o'clock, in James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will be in Springhill United Methodist Church cemetery, Ridgeville.

MCDONALD, Carroll
Carroll Watson McDonald, 75, widower of Carol Ann M. McDonald of Charleston, SC, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, SC. All funeral services are private. ARRANGEMENTS BY J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
Mr. McDonald was born in Thomasville, Alabama, a son of Carlos and Alice Bouler McDonald.
He is retired US Navy, and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He also retired from MUSC Procurement Dept.
He is survived by his son, Don McDonald and his wife, Tamara of Charleston, SC, six sisters, Theda Erstgard of Spencer, MA, Anna Welsh of Elsie, NB, Ouida McIntyre of Coffeeville, AL, Mabel Rush of Mobile, AL, Marlene Brock of Clanton, AL, and Faye Stephens of Grove Hill, AL, one brother, Calvin McDonald of Grove Hill, AL. Two grandchildren, Jacob Zimmerman and Rebecca Zimmerman of Charleston, SC, and one great-grandchild, Isabel Zimmerman of Charleston, SC.
Memorials may be made to charity of ones choice.

PARKS, Darla
Entered into eternal rest on the morning of October 28, 2001, Darla Vaughn Mandrell Parks, widow of Charles G. Parks. Residence, Goose Creek, South Carolina. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Darla Vaughn Mandrell Parks are invited to attend her funeral services at the Cryptside, Carolina Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum, Wednesday morning, October 31, 2001, at ten o'clock. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., GREENRIDGE ROAD CHAPEL Tuesday evening between seven and nine o'clock.
Mrs. Parks was born December 25, 1935 the daughter of Gail E. and Dalene Mandrell. She attended Illinois public schools, and was a graduate of Trident Technical College with a degree in Horticulture. She was an employee with LaPetite Academy of Goose Creek, SC.
Surviving are two sons, Alan R. and (Elaine) Parks of Goose Creek, S.C., Jimmy and (Joyce) Parks of Greenville, S.C., two daughters; Diane Horton of Goose Creek, S.C., Robin and (Bob Le Master) of Pasadena, MD., two sisters; Sheila and (John) Sherman and Marcia Pribble all of Rantoul, IL., and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Roger Parks.

PAOLONE, Jan
The relatives and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Timothy Paolone are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial of the latter on Tuesday, October 29, 2001, at 9:00 a.m., in Stella Maris Catholic Church. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be private.
