ELSEY, Samuel
Samuel P. Elsey, 84, of Camden, Tenn., died Friday, October 26, 2001, in a Camden hospital.
Memorial service will be Sunday, October 28, 2001, 3 p.m., at STOCKDALE-MALIN CHAPEL in Camden, Tenn.
Mr. Elsey was born April 22, 1917, in Ravanell, S.C., the son of the late Robert Lee Elsey and the late Ella Bivens Elsey.
He was a construction superintendent at DuPont.
Survivors include, wife, Mattie Cullen Elsey; daughters, Sharon Rose, Rock Hill, S.C.; step-sons, Harry Gregory, Iowa City, Iowa, Tom Gregory, Camden, S.C.; sisters, Catherine Umrysh, Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Four brothers preceded him in death.
A memorial service will also be held in Charleston at a later date.

born April 27, 1938 in Rosario, Philippines, Mr. Garcia was the son of the late Benjamin and Concordia Abueg Garcia.
He was a retired Navy veteran and also was retired from the Naval Weapons Station, Security Department. He attended Advent Lutheran Church.
Survivors are his wife, Mary H. Garcia of N. Charleston; a son, Thomas Waller of Wickes, Arkansas; three daughters, Alvena Gatlin, Barbara Lopez and June Cruz, all of Charleston and ten grandchildren.

KENZ, Patricia
COTTAGEVILLE - Mrs. Patricia Symonds Kenz, 60, of 96 Capricorn Court died Friday at her home.
The Liturgical Celebration of Final Commendation and Farewell will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of the BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME with Father Paul F.X. Seitz officiating.
Burial will be private.
Pat was a strong supporter of the Republican Party and a vigorous advocate for conservative issues.
She was a devoted wife and mother and avid gardener.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Patty was the daughter of the late Velma Symonds, who died in October, 1989 and Lloyd Symonds, who died April 1965.
She was the sister of the late Betty Doherty, who passed away in December, 1993.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Kenz, a sister, Karen Loiselle of Waterford, New York, daughters, Yvette Watson of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Yvonne Hazard of Weedsport, New York, a son, Raymond P. Stark, Jr. of Bloomingdale, New York, ten grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2:30 p.m. Wednesday until the service hour at the Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Republican National Committee.
BALLARD, Ethel
ANDERSON - Ethel Rowe Ballard, 85, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Ballard was born in Georgetown on October 11, 1916, a daughter of the late Henry Gilbert Rowe and Orie Douglas Rowe.
Mrs. Ballard was a retired employee of International Paper Company in Georgetown and a member of the Quarter Century Club at the paper mill.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Anderson and the Wesley Sunday School Class of the church.
Mrs. Ballard was a former volunteer for Hospice of Georgetown County, Inc., Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce, and the Friends of the Georgetown County Public Library. She was the widow of Kenneth Earl Ballard, Sr.
Surviving are two daughters, Caryl Kaye B. Dillard and her husband Buddy of Anderson, and Elise B. O'Hara and her husband Leslie of Pawley's Island; a son, Kenneth Earl Ballard, Jr. and his wife Paula of Greenwood; a brother, Dr. William E. Rowe of Chattanooga, Tenn.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning, November 1, 2001 at eleven o'clock at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
Officiating will be the Rev. Robert N. Carlisle. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens in Georgetown.
A memorial service will be three o'clock Sunday, November 4, 2001 in Trinity United Methodist Church in Anderson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday morning prior to the service from ten o'clock until eleven o'clock.

She was a member of a bridge club and enjoyed playing bingo.
Her husband, the late Charlie Craig Biggers, was a former treasurer of the city of Charleston.
Surviving are one daughter, Deborah Garrison of Fredericksburg, VA.; five grandchildren, Heather Garrison, Justin Garrison, and Sean Garrison all of Fredericksburg, VA., Allison Worthington and Rebecca Padgett both of Charleston, SC; one great-grandson, Noah Swift of Fredericksburg, VA.

WILLIAMS, Jay
FAIRFAX - Mr. Jay Harley Williams, husband of the late Phyllis Ivy Gibson Williams, died Monday evening in the V.A. Medical Center in Augusta.
He was 84.
Mr. Williams was born in Old Barnwell County March 4, 1917, a son of the late Albert R. Williams and Mary Jane Harter Williams.
He was a carpenter and an Army Veteran of WWII. He was a Baptist and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include: 2 sons, Jay Harley Williams, Jr. of California, and Eric Arthur Williams of Barnwell; 3 daughters, Patricia Ann Bowers of Fairfax, Phyllis Marie Fisk of Islandton and Jackie Donahue of Allendale; 2 brothers, Robbie R. Williams of Barnwell and Kenneth Williams of Walterboro; 1 sister, Mary Alice Coxwell of Georgia.
There are 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in the chapel of Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial following in the Fairfax cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
