Joseph Walter Jones, 61, of 1010 Grace Street, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at his home. born in Dillon, he was a son of the late Wheeler and Marie Haselden Jones. He was a graduate of Cheraw High School and was retired from the US Navy, having served during the Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf War. Surviving are two sisters, Sylvia Jean “Bobbie” Hansen of Greenwood and Maxine Warren of Easley and a brother, David Jones of Dillon. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriett Ann Jones and Eunice Johnson.

Susan Rebecca “Becky” Phillips Bouknight, 79, of 126 Westgate Drive, widow of Robert Eugene Bouknight, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Hospice House. born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late James Manley and Susan Elizabeth Clark Phillips. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are her son, Robert Eugene Bouknight, II of Greenwood; two sisters, Jamie Phillips Sherfield and her husband, Buddy, of Rock Hill and Judy Phillips Paschich and her husband, Bob, of Chappells; nieces and nephews, Susan Sheppard, her husband, Doug, and their children, Anna and Jai, Emily Sherfield, Erik Webb, his wife, Sara, and their children, Joey and Johnny. Burial will be in Beaufort National cemetery. It is requested that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 211 N. Main Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Billy Thomas Waldrop, 70, husband of Linda Taylor Waldrop, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at his home in Greenville. born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Dwight and Mamie Lee Cox Waldrop. He was in the US Army for 22 years, serving during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a retired Assistant Chief of Police in McCormick and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is his wife; daughters, Belisa W. Horne of Plum Branch and Maria Crowder of Daytona Beach, FL; stepdaughters, Dana Haynes of Greenville and Renee Hood of Travelers Rest; stepson, Robin Hood of Greenville; sister, Elizabeth Hines of Greenville; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kay Mummah Waldrop and a stepson, Carl Wayne Hood.

She had been employed by George’s Steakhouse and was of the Holiness faith. Surviving is her husband of the home; her parents of Hodges; two sons, Bobby Jennings and Justin Jennings, both of Waterloo; grandchildren, Cameron Simpson, Desiree Jennings and Cassie Jennings; her maternal grandmother, Edna Holder of Greenwood and her mother-in-law, Janie Barton of Greenwood.

Marie Horne Judy, 91, formerly of 131 Bryant Drive, widow of Joseph Z. Judy, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at NHC Health Care Center. born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Press Pickens Horne and Annie Horn Horne. She had been employed by Abney Mills and Greenwood Mills, was a member of the Panola Mother’s Club, Abney Memorial Baptist Church and the TEL Sunday School Class. Surviving are three sons, Larry Judy of Bradley, Donnie Judy of Greenwood and Mike Judy of Ninety Six; a sister, Myrtle Beasley of Greenwood; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

Homer Cecil “Tiny” Bush, 81, formerly of 235 East Cambridge Avenue, husband of Louise LeCroy Bush died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Wesley Commons. born in Little Mountain, SC, he was a son of the late John Jessie Bush and Carrie Lee Bundrick. He retired from Greenwood Packing Plant. Mr. Bush was an U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was of the Lutheran faith. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Bush; and two brothers, Jessie Heyward Bush and John Carroll Bush. Surviving in addition to his wife of Greenwood are a daughter, Linda Bush Banks of Greenwood; a sister, Sylvia Bush Taylor of Little Mountain; a brother, Bennie Albert Bush of Little Mountain; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Irene Rogers Bass, 89, widow of James B. “Jack” Bass, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Hospice House. born in Ward, she was a daughter of the late Bailey and Jessie Denny Rogers. She was a seamstress, retiring from Eastwell Sportswear and was a member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. She loved music and lived for Tuesday nights when she could go to Johnny Barrett’s place and enjoy the music. Surviving is a sister, Mazie Salters of Ridge Spring; nieces, Judy Corder and Bonnie Rinehart; and special friends and caregivers, Diane and Darrell Noffz.

Funeral services for Mr. W. Briggs Hamilton, 91, of Carolina Avenue in North Augusta, who died Jan. 1, 2011, will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Mr. Hamilton was a native of Edgefield County, having made North Augusta his lifelong residence. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta where he served as an usher and was a member of the former M. P. Campbell Sunday School Class and the Sheffield Club. After 43 years of employment, Mr. Hamilton retired in 1984 from the Atlanta Gas Light Company as a service supervisor and was a member of the Gold Flame Retirement Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II having served in the Pacific and was a member of the Jesse C. Lynch Memorial American Legion Post #71.. Survivors include his daughters, Jean Millett, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Judy Buck, North Augusta; four grandchildren, Kerri Millett Bradley and her husband Rod, Ken Millett, Alan Buck and his wife Lauren, and David Buck and his wife Nancy; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hamilton was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Atkinson Hamilton; three brothers, L. H. Hamilton, Winslow Hamilton and Ted Hamilton; and two sisters, Gladys Timmerman and Florence Jackson..

She is survived by a daughter, Essie M. Weaver Dublin, Johnston; three brothers, Nathaniel (Jeanette) Jamison, Aiken, Elijah Jamison, Florida, and Abraham Jamison, Georgia; sisters, Martha Hawkins and Ida Mae Jamison, both of Neeses; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Beatrice Salley Lott
Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Salley Lott, 91, of Johnston, were held Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Trenton at 3 p.m. Burial was in Mt. of Olives cemetery in Johnston.
Mrs. Lott, a native of Neeses, died Friday, Dec. 31. She was a daughter of the late John Anthony and Alaven Fogle Salley. Mrs. Lott retired from Riegel, Inc and for a number of years had worked in Edgefield County School District with the Grandparents Foster Program and was affectionately known as "Granny". She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.
Survivors include a daughter, Marian L. Trotter; sons, John Howard (Pat) Lott and Joe (Linda) Lott; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Lott.

Harold Waters Perry
Mr. Harold Waters Perry, 82, of Addison Street in Edgefield, husband of Marie Robertson Perry, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 31, at 2 p.m. at Edgefield United Methodist Church. Burial was in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield with S.C. Highway Patrol honors.
Mr. Perry was born in Saluda and was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a retired sergeant with the S.C. Highway Patrol with 35 years service.
Sin addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Mike (Ginger) Perry, North Augusta, Coby Perry, Edgefield; four grandchildren, Jenny Lindon, Carrie Evans, Corbin Perry, and Collin Perry; two sisters, Grace Givens and Shirley Padgett, both of Lexington; a brother, James "Skeet" Perry, Lexington.
