Bobby Lee Cook, 68, of 122 Grannys Lane, husband of Diane Hollingsworth Cook, died Monday, October 10, 2011 at Hospice House. born in North Carolina, he was a son of the late William and Elise Mae Byers Cook. He was employed with Greenwood Mills and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is his wife of the home; a son, Eddie Riley and his wife, Monica, of Greenwood; three daughters, Alice Cook and her husband, Kenny, of Bradley, Tammy Ivey and Bonnie Ivey, both of North Carolina; two sisters, Betty Jean Woody of Virginia and Linda Parker of North Carolina; nine grandchildren.

Anna H. Painter, 91, surrounded by family, went to be with her Lord early on Sunday, October 9, 2011. She was a resident of Wesley Commons, Greenwood. She was born in Honaker, VA on January 24, 1920 to the late Charles W. and Pearl Porter Hurt. She was married
to the late Nile Kent Painter and was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Dr. Cecil Hurt and Dr. George Hurt. She is survived by her two sons, James W. Painter (Alice) of Los Alamos, NM and Thomas M. Painter (Sherrill) of Chapin, SC. She had five precious grandchildren, Lauren Painter, Michael Painter, Amy Albright, Anne Corbin and Elizabeth Painter and seven great grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud. Mrs. Painter received her education from Brenau College, Gainesville, GA, and the National Business College, Roanoke, VA, where she met her beloved husband, Kent, with whom she was happily married
for more than 50 years. She retired as a long time employee of the Department of Commerce, Springfield, VA. She was a former member of Little River United Methodist Church, Little River, SC and was presently a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Greenwood. The family would like to gratefully thank all of the employees of Wesley Commons for their caring and unselfish service during her residency there and to the nursing staff on the 8th floor of Self Regional Hospital for the dedicated and loving care they gave during her last few days.

Mary Willette Taylor Brown, 87, formerly of 303 Virginia Avenue, widow of Lester Thomas Brown, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Magnolia Manor. born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Albert Leroy and Willie Mae Williams Taylor. She was employed by Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant and attended South Greenwood Church of God. Surviving is her brother, Rallie Taylor and his wife, Jean, of Ninety Six and a grandchild.

Edward Samuel Mitchell, Jr., 79, of 230 Candlewick Loop, McCormick, husband of Nancy Card Mitchell, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Hospice House, Greenwood. born in Boston, MA, he was a son of the late Edward Samuel Mitchell, Sr. and Gladys Belyea Mitchell. He was a 1962 graduate of the University of Miami (FL), where he received a B.S. degree in both Electrical Engineering and Microelectronics. He retired from Bell Labs following 34 years of employment, where he was a member of the technical staff. Mr. Mitchell was a US Coast Guard veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and a member of McCormick United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men’s Club. Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Nancy, of the home; his son, Edward Samuel Mitchell, III and his wife, Maura, of Fairplay, MD; his daughter, Liane Venezia and her husband, Justin, of Lexington; two sisters, Sylvia Burke and her husband, Maurice, of Cape Cod, MA and Phebe Abbott and her husband, Earl, of Nashua, NH; and was a loving Papa to his five grandchildren, Artemis Mitchell, Gavin Mitchell, Justina Venezia, Nicholas Venezia and Allison Venezia.

Johnnie Franklin Lowman, Jr., 82, of 909 Deadfall Road, husband of Felicia Styron Lowman, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. born in White Rock, SC, he was the son of the late Johnny Franklin Lowman, Sr. and Pearl Bouknight Lowman. Johnnie was a veteran of the Army National Guard having served during the Korea Conflict and a member of the American Legion. He retired from CPW and was a member of Harris United Methodist Church where he was in the Cooper-Reed Sunday School Class. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home is a son, Ronald Franklin Lowman and his wife Annette, of Seneca; three sisters, Jo Nell Hunnicut, Marlene Thomas and Ann Bosley, all of Joanna; and a number of nieces and nephews. Justin Elliott, 21, of 4402 Highway 25 South, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
born in Greenwood, he was the son of Gary R. Elliott, Angie Royston Copelan and Larry Copelan. Justin graduated from Emerald High School Class of 2008. He was co-owner of Copelan’s Garage and Engine Exchange and attended Augusta Highway Baptist Church.
Justin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Glenn Elliott, and great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall (Sara) Royston, and Mr. and Mrs. Luther (Minnie) Ferqueron.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Greenwood; are two sisters, Jessica Nicole (Wes) Weis of Abbeville and Morgan Elliott of Greenwood; a niece, Mason Grace Weis of Abbeville; and grandparents, Doris Elliott, Marshall “Ed” and Peggy Royston, all of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Wideman, Heath Humphries, Terry Freel, Josh Royston, Dickie Gardner, Gary Farber, Stan Calhoun and Grant Dowell.

Olive Jane Wallace Krueger, 82, of 105 Cypress Hollow, widow of Richard D. Krueger died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Hospice House. born in Charleroi, PA, she was a daughter of the late Robert Wallace and Evelyn Young Wallace. She lived for 40 years in Lawrenceburg, TN where she worked and raised her family, A former member and Sunday School teacher at Highland Park Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, she was a homemaker and also formerly worked at Salant & Salant. In Greenwood she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, GAP and a member of the Henry Reynolds Sunday school class where she formerly served as president. Jane was an avid gardener and a very active member of the YMCA arthritis class where she enjoyed her many friends and participated in their activities. Surviving are four children: Ruth K. (Jim) LaForge of Greenwood, David R. (Melinda) Krueger of Wichita, KS, Daniel L. Krueger of Independence, KS and Marlene E. (Kevin) Kerr of Lawrenceburg, TN; a brother, Robert Wallace of PA; an aunt, Florence (George) Milcinovic of Cleveland, OH; sister-in-law, Laverne Krueger of Cleveland, OH; two nephews, Dale (Peggy) Shaddock of Cleveland, OH and William T. (Adrianne) Krueger of NY; nine grandchildren: Jay (Kathryn) LaForge, Will LaForge, both of Greenwood, Kris (Lindsey) Krueger, Kimberly K. J. Oliver of Greer; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
