Robert Arnett, Sr., 91, of 308 Saco Avenue, husband of Sudie Mae Ashmore Arnett, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Hospice House. He was born in Lincolnton, GA and retired from Greenwood Mills, Plant No. 5, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is his wife of 69 years; a daughter, Betty Smith of Greenwood; a sister, Sara Murray of Locust Grove, GA and grandchildren, Darrie Carlton of Mauldin, Debra Hughes of Neeses, Billy Whaley of Richmond, VA and Mark Smith of Spartanburg; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by four children, Patricia Ann Arnett, Curtis Luther Arnett, Brenda Joyce Arnett Lynch and Robert George Arnett.

She was employed by Greenwood Mills and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are seven children, “Bubba” Carroll of Greenwood, Rick Jennings, Ben Jennings, Larry Jennings, Jerry Jennings and Elizabeth Jennings, all of Waterloo and Dale Jennings of Greenwood; 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Stanley F. Miller, 93, of 1110 Marshall Road, widower of Ruth Katherine Martin Miller, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Hospice House. born in Brooklyn, NY on July 29, 1918, he was a son of the late William and Rose Haugh Miller. He attended Woodmere High School, the College of Insurance, the Bible Institute of New York and the New York Illustrating Studios. Stan was employed for 43 years by the Home Insurance Company, but his passion was art. He worked mainly in oil and water color and drew a comic strip, “Chubby, ” for the Long Island Daily Press. He served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945. On July 23, 1943, he married
Ruth, who died in 2008. Stan and Ruth lived for many years in Valley Stream, NY, before moving to Wesley Commons in 1990. They were members of Main Street United Methodist Church. Stan is survived by his daughter, Pastor Lori Miller and her husband, Stan’s “son, ” the Rev. Dr. John Halbrook, of Pound Ridge, NY; two grandsons, Greg Halbrook of Pound Ridge and Jaan Paul Halbrook and his wife, Samantha, of Walkill, NY and a great grandson, Alex. Stan and his family extend thanks to Hospice House, Greenwood, for the extraordinary care extended to both Stan and Ruth and to the members of the Genesis to Revelation Sunday School Class at Main Street, and especially to Carolyn Thomes for her years of faithful visiting. We celebrate Stan’s life, but celebrate even more that he has gone home to Jesus.

Formerly of Fallbrook, CA, she was a member of the Fallbrook Junior Women’s Club, Orange County Spaniel Group, the Fallbrook Rider’s Club and was a Girl Scout leader. Margie retired from Monsanto and was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Eddie Wayne Bailey, 60, of 707 Chinquapin Road, husband of Julie Reichardt Bailey, died Monday, October 31, 2011 at Hospice House. born in Greenwood County, he was a son of A. L. and Ruby Sexton Bailey. He attended Berkley School of Music and was a drummer for numerous bands including The Hole Crew, The Rooks, Kinfolk, The Swingin' Medallions, Fabulous Expressions, REDS, The Heebee Jeebee's, Replay, Sensations and Ear Candy. He recently recorded "You Don’t Know Me", which has been rising on the beach music charts. He most recently worked with David Weir providing landscape and irrigation systems. Eddie Wayne loved his family, his dog, Bongo, fishing and golf. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Long, Sr. Jimmy attended school in Ninety Six and retired from the SC Department of Transportation in the communications office. He formerly served as the Upstate Coordinator of Disaster Preparedness and was a former member of the Coronaca Fire Department. He served in the US Navy and was a 25 year member of the Bascomb Lodge #363 A.F.M. He was a member and past president of the Greenwood Shag Club and a past member of the Greenwood Amateur Radio Club.
