CHERAW — James “Buck” Buckley Davis, 39, died Sunday, April 8, 2012. Funeral services were held April 15, at Free Worship, Cheraw. A memorial service was held after service. A service will be held in Ashland, Ky., time and date to be announced. Mr. Davis was born in Ashland, the son of Jim Davis (Betty) and Donna Rice (Mark) all of Ashland. He was an RN and had worked in a trauma center. He love spending time with family.
Mary Ruth Threadgill Brock
CHERAW — Mary Ruth Threadgill Brock, 87, died April 9, 2012. Funeral services were held April 12, at Brocks Mill Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family held visitation prior to the service. Mrs. Brock was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Chesterfield, a daughter of the late Henry Cannie and Ola Estelle Therrell Threadgill. She was a former seamstress with Sacony and a homemaker.

BLYTHEWOOD — Susan Barrineau Jones, 40, died March 24, 2012. Funeral services were held March 28, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with burial following in Elmwood cemetery and Gardens. The family held visitation March 27, at Kornegay & Moseley Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Mrs. Jones was born in Florence, a daughter of David Barrineau and the late Helen Sue Lominick Barrineau. She was formerly employed by Palmetto Senior Care and Health Services.
Mary “Gussie” Augusta Watson
EDGEFIELD — Mary “Gussie” Augusta Watson, 98, died April 7, 2012. Funeral services were held April 11, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chesterfield, with burial following in the Chesterfield cemetery. The family held visitation prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Watson was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Mullins, S.C., to the late William L. Adden, Sr. and Mary Rushing Adden. Watson was a long time resident of Chesterfield.
Orean A. Marsh Douglas
PAGELAND — Orean A. Marsh Douglas, 85, died April 11, 2012. Mrs. Douglas was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Pageland, a daughter of the late Ezekiel Marsh and Zillah Johnson Blakeney Marsh. She was a member of Oro Methodist Church. She was employed with JTPA of Chesterfield County and Central High School as a custodian. Douglas was preceded in death by five sisters, Josephine B. Burch, Maggie B. Blakeney, Mae B. Tyson, Thelma B. Sellers, and Lena.
Shuggie Gardner Rhyne
CHESTERFIELD — Shuggie Gardner Rhyne, 75, died April 16, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., April 18, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Rhyne was born Oct. 15, 1936, in Chesterfield, a daughter of the late Harold Baxter and Sara Elizabeth Davidson Gardner.
T.L. Horton
JEFFERSON, S.C. — T.L. Horton, 75, died Thursday, April 5, 2012. A funeral service was held April 7, at Beauford Baptist Church, McBee, S.C. Burial with Fireman’s Honors followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends April 6, at Beauford Baptist Church. born in McBee, Horton was the son of the late Leornard and Edith Kirkley Horton. He was a member of Sandhill VFD for more than 25 years.
Ronald “Ronnie” Junior Outlaw
CHESTERFIELD, S.C. — Ronald “Ronnie” Junior Outlaw, 54, died Monday, March 19, 2012. A funeral service was held March 24, at Douglas Mill Baptist Church, Chesterfield. Burial was in the Douglas Mill cemetery. The family received friends March 23, at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, S.C. born in High Point, N.C., he was a son of the late Junior and Margaret Hewitt Outlaw. He was a member of Douglas Mill Baptist Church, Chesterfield.
Greg Oliver
JEFFERSON, S.C. — Greg Oliver, 48, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at his home. A funeral service was held April 8 at Fork Creek United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family held visitation in the Church Fellowship Hall prior to the service. Oliver was born April 7, 1963, in Monroe, N.C., a son Peggy Stogner Oliver and the late Boyd Donald Oliver. He was a dry wall hanger and a member of Fork Creek United Methodist Church.
Delainie Bazemore
PATRICK — Delainie Bazemore, 19, died April 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held April 4, at 3 p.m., at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Cross Branch Baptist Church cemetery. The family will hold visitation from 2 to 3 p.m., prior to the service. Mrs. Bazemore was born April 28, 1992, in Greenville, N.C., a daughter of Renae Garrett Gardner. She attended Northeastern Technical College.
Ronald D. Johnson
PAGELAND — Ronald “Ronnie” D. Johnson, 61, died March 28, 2012, at his home. Funeral services were held March 31, at Bethlehem Baptist Church Family Life Center, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family held visitation March 30, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield. Mr. Johnson was born Feb. 22, 1951, in Chesterfield County. A son of the late Burkett Cabanna and Rosa Alice Poston Johnson.
Jennette Brock Hodge
CHESTERFIELD — Jennette Brock Hodge, 91, died March 29, 2012. Funeral services were held April 1, at Fairview Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family held visitation March 31, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. Mrs. Hodge was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Morven, N.C. a daughter of the late Ervin and Martha Liza Purvis Brock. She was a retired employee of Chesterfield Yarn Mill.
Angelia Kay Carter Motley
CHERAW — Angelia Kay Carter Motley, 66, died March 29, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., April 3, at Miller-Rives-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield. Motley was born Oct. 20, 1945, in Cheraw, a daughter of the late Henry and Eula Mae McDonald Carter. She was a graduate of Cheraw High School and had done additional college studies. She was a former employee of several doctor’s offices.
Ms. Elaine Bell Owens
BALTIMORE - The funeral for Ms. Elaine Bell Owens of 4214 Mayonne Ave., formerly of Chester, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. today, Friday, Feb. 6 at Harlem Park Community Church in Baltimore. Burial will also be in Baltimore.
Ms. Owens died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at her home.
Survivors include a son, Ryan T. Roberts of Baltimore; her mother, May Bell Coad-Owens of Baltimore; a sister, Michelle L. Owens-Goode of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her mother, May Bell Coad-Owens, at 123 West 29th St., Baltimore.

Mr. Calvin Sanders, 52
CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. Calvin Sanders of 851 West Town St. Apt. B, Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Chester, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at Brown's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. The Rev. O.L. Smith will officiate, the Rev. Wendell Cain will deliver the eulogy and the Rev. Jessie Peay, the Rev. Bill Stringfellow Jr., the Rev. George Sims, the Rev. George Lowery Jr., the Rev. Bobby Featherstone and Daniel Chisholm will assist. Burial will follow in Christian Home Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Sanders, 52, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at his residence.
born in Chester County on April 27, 1952, he was a son of Geneva Crosby Sanders Kirkpatrick and the late James A. Sanders. A member of Mt. Prospect Baptist Church, Mr. Sanders attended the public schools of Chester County and was employed as an industrial heating and air conditioning technician.
Survivors include his mother, Geneva Crosby Kirkpatrick of Chester; a son, Calvin L. "Chez" Sanders of Chester; three daughters, Kianna Sanders of Chester, Ciji Foote of Columbus, Ohio and Helen Yourse of Greensboro, N.C.; five brothers, Hase Sanders, James Sanders and Stanley Sanders, all of Chester, Lt. Alex Sanders of Fort Sam, Houston, Texas, and CPT. Eddie Byrd of Fort Carson, Colo.; 10 sisters, Rosa Johnson of Baltimore, Esther Hughes of Greensboro, N.C. and Annie Sanders, Artelia Pendergrass, Margaret Ayers, Vickie Radford, Gail McCree, Mary Moore, Rebecca McCree and Eloise Minter, all of Chester; and a stepsister, Annie Ruth Kirkpatrick of Chester.
He was predeceased by a sister, Arleava C. Byrd.
The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, Geneva S. Kirkpatrick, at 786 Old York Road, Chester.
Viewing will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at King's Funeral Home, 135 cemetery St., Chester. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
King's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. John Facchin, 82
CHESTER - A memorial mass service for Mr. John Facchin of 1381 Radcliff Road will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Father David Valplerra and Deacon James Hyland will officiate.
Mr. Facchin, 82, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at his residence.
born in McCloud, Ca. on April 15, 1921, he was a graduate of McCloud High School. A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mr. Facchin served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the owner and operator of J&H; Ranch.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Louise Lund Facchin of Chester.

John Wallace Pettigrew
Mr. John Wallace Pettigrew, 82, of Columbia Road, Edgefield, S.C., husband of Carolyn Way Pettigrew, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at University Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 2 P.M. at Edgefield First Baptist Church with burial in Eastview cemetery.
Mr. Pettigrew, son of the late Samuel Grady and Lucille Reel Pettigrew, was born in Edgefield County. He was a member of the Edgefield First Baptist Church. He was a 1949 graduate of Clemson College. Mr. Pettigrew was a WW II Army Air Force Veteran and a member and former Commander of the American Legion Hezzie Griffis Post # 30 with over 60 years of membership. In 1946, he drove J. Strom Thurmond throughout the state of South Carolina in his successful campaign for governor.
He was Sales Manager at Pendarvis Chevrolet - Oldsmobile in Edgefield for over 50 years.
In 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1988 he was the number one Oldsmobile salesman in the nation. Throughout most of his sales career, he was a member of Chevrolet Legion of Leaders and Truck Hall of Fame. His loyal customers spanned several generations and came from throughout South Carolina and Georgia.
He was elected to serve on the Edgefield Town Council in 1962 and served continuously until 1987.
During his tenure, he served numerous terms as Mayor Pro-Tem and as interim Mayor.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, 1 Son - John Wallace (Mary Allison) Pettigrew, Jr., Edgefield, S.C., 2 Daughters - Julia Pettigrew (Bobby) Hall, Spartanburg, S.C. and Susan Caroline Pettigrew, La Jolla, California. 4 Granddaughters - Carolyn Hall, Rebecca Hall, Carolina Brooks Pettigrew and Amelia Pettigrew. 2 Sisters - Margaret Robertson, Denmark, S.C. and Jewell Burckhalter, Aiken, S.C.
Memorials may be made to American Legion Post # 30, P.O. Box 236 Edgefield, S.C. 29824.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bertie Hudson Polatty, 92
GREAT FALLS - The funeral for Mrs. Bertie Hudson Polatty, formerly of Chester Avenue, will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 16 at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Hovis will officiate and burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Polatty, 92, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at the Chester County Nursing Center.
born in Lancaster County on Oct. 25, 1911, she was a daughter of the late James Adger Hudson and Mabel Lee Hudson. A member of Trinity Baptist Church, Mrs. Polatty attended school in Great Falls and also Rice Business College in Charleston. She was a homemaker and wrote the senior citizens column for the Great Falls Reporter for many years.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, David William Polatty.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today, Friday, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, 26 Underwood Ave., Great Falls.

Mr. William Porter McCarley Jr., 50
GASTONIA - Memorial services for Mr. William Porter McCarley Jr. of 1310 W. Garrison Blvd. will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Evangel Assembly of God in Gastonia. Burial will be private.
Mr. McCarley, 50, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
born in Chester on Jan. 14, 1953, he was a son of William Porter McCarley Sr. and Hannah Lyles McCarley.
