Jimmie Dandy

Mr. Jimmie Dandy, 62, of Columbia Highway in Ridge Spring, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at Miller's Funeral Home in Aiken, with the Rev. Ray A. Pilgrim officiating. Burial was in Aiken Memorial Gardens on Edgefield Highway.

Mr. Dandy was a native of Kinards in Laurens County and was a member of Vaughnville Baptist Church in Chappells.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Young Dandy; a brother, Robert (Jean) Leake, Jamaica, N.Y.; six sisters, Corine Paine, Linda Anderson, Wyonne Evans and Carrie Golden, all of Clinton, Mattie Baker and Annie Baker, both of Jamaica, N.Y.; a special son, Demille Sims; two brothers-in-law, Richard (Margaret) Young and David (Linda) Young; three sisters-in-law, Delores Stewart, Grace Overton and Doris (Rev. Henry) Merriweather; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Mrs. Naomi Hampton Williams, 63

LOCKHART - The funeral for Mrs. Naomi Lee Hampton Williams of 329 North 1st St. will be conducted at 4 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 13 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Pastor John Porter will officiate and burial will follow in Bullock's Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Mrs. Williams, 63, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at her residence.

born in Chester on Jan. 8, 1941, she was a daughter of the late James Garvin Hampton and Nora Elizabeth Hampton. A member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Chester, Mrs. Williams was retired from the Katherine Plant.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Williams; three daughters, Jewel Kay Haeussler of Manchester, Mich., Diane Turner of Lockhart and Amanda Allison of Union; and four sisters, Iris H. Bostic of Greenville, Miss., Hazel H. Wilkes and Melba H. Thomas, both of Chester, and Norma Jean Morrison of Richburg.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Don Hampton and Gordon Hampton; and a grandson, Robbie Gearhart.

The family will receive friends today from 2-4 p.m. at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, 310 West South St., Union, and at other times at the home, 329 North 1st St., Lockhart.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1280 Medical Science Drive, Union, S.C. 29379.

Mrs. Mattie Eubanks Wishert, 89

CHESTER - The funeral for Mrs. Mattie Eubanks Wishert of 114 Epworth St. was conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12 at Cool Branch Baptist Church. The Rev. John Epps officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Wishert, 89, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Piedmont Medical Center.

born in Fairfield County on Feb. 21, 1915, she was a daughter of the late J.E. Eubanks and Mary Taylor Eubanks. A member of Cool Branch Baptist Church, where she formerly taught Sunday school and belonged to the W.M.U. and the choir, Mrs. Wishert graduated from Monticello High School and was retired from Springs Industries' Grace sewing room.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Wishert of Chester.

She was predeceased by her husband, L.D. Wishert Jr.

Memorials may be made to Cool Branch Baptist Church cemetery Fund, 10726 State Hwy. 215 North, Blair, S.C. 29015.

Mr. Donald (Pig) Gray, 47

VIDALIA, Ga. - The funeral for Mr. Donald (Pig) Gray of Vidalia, Ga., a former Chester resident, was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, from the Second Wilson Baptist Church in Chester. The Rev. W.M. Bryson, pastor of the church, officiated, with the Rev. Robert Z, Bailey, Rev. David Jennings and Rev. Moses Lightner assisting. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Mr. Gray, 47, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, in Vidalia, Georgia.

born in Chester County, he was a son of Mr. Berry McClurkin and Mrs. Doretha Gray Snell. He attended schools in Chester County and also in New Jersey.

Mr. Gray was a forklift operator and a member of the New Life Ministries Church in Vidalia.

Survivors include a daughter, Abby Gale Gray of Vidalia; his mother, Mrs. Doretha Gray Snell of Vidalia; his father, Berry McClurkin of Chester; two brothers, James Henry Woodward and Isaiah Woodward, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; a step-brother, Regonne McClurkin of Chester; two sisters, Marsh McClurkin Wade and Tohechia McClurkin Holmes, both of New Jersey; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Novia Stradford of Chester.

Denton Funeral Service of Chester and Vidalia Funeral Home of Vidalia, Ga., were in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Carl 'Elmo' Ellis, 51

CHESTER - Graveside services for Mr. James Carl "Elmo" Ellis of 118 Nella St. were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 in Greenlawn cemetery in Great Falls with the Rev. Ronnie Green officiating.

Mr. Ellis, 51, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

born in Chester on Oct. 18, 1952, he was a son of the late James C. Ellis and Betty E. Webb Ellis. A Baptist, Mr. Ellis was self-employed and served in the U.S. Marines. He attended the schools of Chester County.

Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Hudson of Chester; a son, Jason Yeargan of Columbia; a brother, Randy Ellis of Lancaster; two sisters, Linda Kay Humphries of Lancaster and Patsy Hinson of Chester; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Together As One, 2078 Pressley Road, Chester.

Lee Ann Rousar

LAKE WYLIE -- Lee Ann Rousar died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Derrill J. Rousar.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at River Hills Community Church, with the Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service.

Artie Dixon

YORK -- Mrs. Artie Hambright Dixon, 85, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.

A graveside service was held March 27 at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The Rev. Robert Hensley officiated.

Catherine Mull

YORK -- Mrs. Catherine Cole Mull, formerly of 316 Simrill Ave., York, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.

A memorial service was held March 28 at First Baptist Church in York.

Jane R. England

YORK -- Mrs. Jane R. England, 77, of 1833 Lincoln Road died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at home surrounded by her family and loving dogs, Sweetie and Baby.

The graveside service was March 27 at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Pastor Paul Willey of Union Baptist Church officiated.

Jane was the daughter of the late Ivan Raper and Annie Groves McCarter. She was born on Oct. 23, 1931, in Gaston County.

She was a manager of the PX at Fort Jackson in Columbia and also owned England's Grocery.

She is survived by brother, Bobby and his wife, Debbie McCarter, of York; several nieces and nephews; and two granddaughters, Starr and Daniell Humphries.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Carl Humphries and Harvey England; her son, Gene Humphries; and her sister, Frances R. Pursley.

Memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 2115 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732; Union Baptist Church, P.O. Box 976, York, SC 29745; or to a charity of one's choice.

The family would like to give special thanks to Pam Trusdale, Cheryl Sibert, Arlynn Neal and Tara Jessee for their support, care, and love for Janie and her family.

Robert E. "Bob" Hoffman

Mr. Robert E. "Bob" Hoffman, 72, of Scott Ferry Rd., husband of Joan Kline Hoffman died Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Doctor's Hospital.

Funeral Arrangements are incomplete and will be accounced by Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Kevin Brown, 20, of Bobwhite Lane, Edgefield, S.C., who entered into rest December 22, 2008, will be conducted Saturday December 27, 2008 at 11 am. from the Posey Funeral chapel.

Pastor James K. Glander officiated.

Jack Davis

CLOVER -- Jack Edward Davis, 80, of 735 O'Malley Court, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at home.

The funeral was March 30 at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Clover, with the Rev. Dave Stanford officiating. Interment was in Lakeview Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Donna Bryant

CLOVER -- Donna Howell Bryant, 63, of 872 W. Old Limestone Road died Monday, March 23, 2009.

The funeral was March 26, 2009, at Union Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Willey and Rev. Shannon Duncan officiated. Burial was at Union Baptist Church cemetery.

Donna Bryant was a daughter of Dick and Gladys Carroll Howell of Rock Hill. She was a member of Union Baptist Church, where she had served as a trustee, a Sunday School teacher and treasurer. She was former co/owner of Filbert Day Care, taught in York School District, and was employed at the Wing King in York.

Along with her parents, she is survived by her husband, Jerry Bryant of Clover; her daughter, Angie Bryant Suttles and husband, Bob of York; her son, Dwayne "Bubba" Bryant and wife, Carmen of Clover; her sister, Cindy Howell of Rock Hill; brother, Freddie Howell of Monroe, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Travis and Taylor Bryant and Chase Suttles.

Memorials may be made to Donna H. Bryant Memorial Fund, 872 W. Old Limestone Road, Clover, SC 29710.

Bill Tabor

SHARON -- Bill Taylor Tabor was born in East Lynn, W.Va., on April 19, 1931, to Kent K. Tabor and Delsie Carey Tabor. He went to his eternal rest on Friday March 27, 2009, at White Oak Manor in York, S.C.

Mr. Tabor proudly served his country in the S.S. Navel Reserve and the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Holyrood Masonic Lodge 257, Tampa, Fla.

Mr. Tabor founded Westgate Community Christian Church in Tampa and was an interim pastor at First Christian Church in Rock Hill, S.C., and most recently retired pastor of Rock Hill Christian Church. His unfulfilled dream was a community for foster and seniors called the Rose of Sharon Farm.

Mr. Tabor is survived by his beloved wife, Julia Price Tabor; three daughters, Delca "Dee" Curran (Charles), Dr. Anita L. Dawson (Charles) and Ruby Navarro Mosser (Theodore); one son, William Nolan K. Tabor; and three granddaughters, Elizabeth Dawson Hughes (Taylor), Catherine Curran and Olivia Navarro.

A memorial service was March 31, 2009, at Bratton Funeral Home in York.
