CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. Harold Dwayne Helms Jr. of 712 Grants Lake Circle was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26 at Second Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Bishop officiated and burial followed in Chester Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Helms, 30, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident.
born in Chester on April 18, 1974, he was a son of Harold Helms and Joyce Clack Helms. A member of Chester Second Baptist Church, Mr. Helms graduated from Chester High School and attended Tri-County Technical College and the University of Phoenix. He was employed with Textile Arts and Film.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Daniel Helms; two daughters, Sydney Helms and Gracie Helms of Chester; a brother, Keith Johnson of Chester; three sisters, Karen Wright and Tammie Jacobs, both of Chester, and Carol Brosi of Goldsboro, N.C.; his parents, Harold and Joyce Helms of Chester; his maternal grandparents, J.T. and Pearl Clack of Chester; and his paternal grandmother, Pearl Helms of Indian Trail, N.C.
He was predeceased by a brother, Tony Johnson; and a nephew, Josh Jacobs.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 729 Village Drive, Chester.

Mr. John Wesley Varnadore, 98
COLUMBIA - Graveside services for Mr. John Wesley Varnadore of 2415 Forest Drive will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30 in Mount Holly United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Mike Rouse officiating.
Mr. Varnadore, 98, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Carolina Health and Rehab.
A native of Richburg, he was a son of the late John Wesley and Lula Belle McGarity Varnadore Sr. A member of Mount Holly United Methodist Church, Mr. Varnadore retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his half-sister, Helen Flenniken of Chester; his niece and caregiver, Doris Childers; and his caregiver, Jean Childers.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sadie Allen Varnadore.
The family will receive friends at the home of Doris Childers, 707 Briarcliff Road, Rock Hill.

Mrs. Isabel Kirkpatrick, 95
CHESTER - Graveside services for Mrs. Isabel Mendenhall Kirkpatrick, formerly of 110 Smith St., will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Friday, Jan. 7 in Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. Marc Mason officiating.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick, 95, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Lexington Medical Center.
born in Richburg on Sept. 2, 1909, she was a daughter of the late John Lyle Kee and Lottie Kee. A member of Purity Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Kirkpatrick graduated from Lewisville High School and attended Winthrop College. She retired from the Chester County Board of Voter Registration.
Survivors include a son, Edward B. Mendenhall of Lexington; a daughter, Dr. Gloria M. Wall of Lincoln, Neb.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maurice Kirkpatrick of Rock Hill.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Brooks Mendenhall; and her second husband, Carl Hafner Kirkpatrick.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Tri-County, 111 Executive Point Blvd., Columbia, S.C. 29210 or to Purity Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 278, Chester.

Mr. Martin Moore, 66
TEXAS - Memorial services for Mr. Martin Moore will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14 at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Mr. Moore, 66, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004.
born in Chester on July 7, 1938, he was a son of Lloyd and Marie Moore. He served in the Korean War as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and after discharge, was hired by General Dynamics. Mr. Moore worked there on numerous domestic and international projects during his 33-year career. Mr. Moore began his career as a radar technician in Spokane, Wash. and completed numerous field and management assignments as a field engineer. He retired in Fort Worth after advancing to program manager. After a successful liver transplant in 2000 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Mr. Moore requested that his body be donated to Baylor.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Catherine Troxler Moore; two sons, James Moore and John Moore and his wife, Dyonne; a grandson; three brothers, Mike Moore, Buddy Moore and his wife, Patsy, and Glenn Moore and his wife, Barbara; and a sister, Clara Hare.

Mr. Larry Gene Hartis, 59
PAGELAND - The funeral for Mr. Larry Gene Hartis was conducted on Sunday, Nov. 26, at Oak Street Baptist Church in Pageland.
Mr. Hartis, 59, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006.
He was a son of the late Walter R. Hartis and Marie McClain Hartis.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Ann Hartis; a son, Randy Hartis and his wife, Ila, of Pageland; a brother, Walter Hartis and his wife, Jean, of Hartsville; five sisters, Carolyn Steen and her husband, Charles, Martha Wright and her husband, Richard, and Annie Lee Rogers, all of Great Falls, and Dianne Deese and her husband, Gene, and Mary Jane Laney, all of Pageland; and a granddaughter, Raya Brooke Hartis.

Mrs. Jessie Mae Carter, 77
RIDGEWAY - Graveside services for Mrs. Jessie Mae Varnadore Carter, formerly of Great Falls and Lancaster, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, in Ebenezer United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. James Allen officiating.
Mrs. Carter, 77, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Ridgeway Health and Rehab Center.
born in Great Falls, she was a daughter of the late John Olin Varnadore and Inez Bell Varnadore. Mrs. Carter attended school in Great Falls and was retired from Springs Industries.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Smith of Great Falls; four sisters, Beulah Wright and Linda Roberts, both of Great Falls, Edith McGarity of Chester and Brenda Price of Blackstock; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Carter; four brothers; and two sisters.

Minister Prince Turner, 23
GREAT FALLS - The funeral for Minister Prince Turner will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at Rock Hill Baptist Church in Winnsboro. The Rev. David Chisolm, will officiate and be assisted by the Rev. Curtis Robinson and the Rev. Albert Epps. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Minister Turner, 23, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, in Great Falls.
born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 13, 1983, he was a son of Ivan T. Cox and Sandy Turner Curry. A member of Rock Hill Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Minister Turner was a licensed youth minister at the Bread Of Life Christian Center in Florence. A 2001 graduate of Great Falls High School, Minister Turner was set to graduate from Francis Marion University in Florence on the date of his death, Saturday, Dec. 16. He had been an art education major. Minister Turner was also an honorary member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
Survivors include his father, Ivan T. Cox of Brooklyn; his mother, Sandy Turner Curry of Great Falls; three brothers, Ivan Turner and his wife, Felicia, of Lexington and Kareem Mitchell and DayQuan Mitchell, both of Brooklyn; seven sisters, Unique Turner and Shaquetta Trapp, both of Great Falls, and Josetta Turner, Tyesha Williams, Pazaze Mitchell, Tiffany Mitchell and Brittany Mitchell, all of Brooklyn; his maternal grandmother, Marion Turner Tompkins of Great Falls; his paternal grandmother, Etheline Cox of Brooklyn; and eight nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Washington Funeral Home in Great Falls. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Unique Turner, 800 Chester Ave. Apt. 29, Great Falls.
Mrs. Nettie B. Watson Gladden, 87

GREAT FALLS - The funeral for Mrs. Nettie B. Watson Gladden of 111 Washington St. was conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at First Mount Zion Baptist Church in Great Falls. The Rev. Harold Harris presided, the Rev. Michael Golden officiated and the Rev. Paul Hicklin assisted. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Gladden, 87, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
born in Winnsboro on June 15, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Hattie Watson and Dallas Watson. A member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Mrs. Gladden later joined First Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Maggie Means, Dora L. Caldwell, Gloria M. Dye and Lucille Belton, all of Great Falls; three sons, Alfred Gladden, Israel Gladden and Mack McKinley Gladden, all of Great Falls; three son-in laws; a daughter-in law; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Mack Gladden Sr.; two daughters, Diane Walls and Estelle Coleman; and two sons, Mack Gladden Jr. and Roosevelt Gladden.
Washington Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Quillious Tidwell Jr., 55
GREAT FALLS - The funeral for Mr. Quillious Tidwell Jr. of 9 West Jefferson St. will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church. The Rev. Randy Billie will officiate, Pastor Clarence Barber will deliver the eulogy and Pastor Connie Richmond, Bishop Gabriel Barrett and Pastor Rodney Hamright will assist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Tidwell, 55, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Providence Hospital.
born in Fairfield County on April 13, 1950, he was a son of the late Quillious Tidwell Sr. and Rosie Lee Gore Tidwell. A 1968 graduate of Elizabeth Heights High School, Mr. Tidwell was the former chief of the Great Falls Police Department and the Ridgeway Police Department. He was a member of Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church and attended Family Healing Outreach Ministry of Great Falls.
Survivors include his wife, Janie M. Barber Tidwell; two sons, Raynard M. Tidwell of the home and Jamie Sanders of Lancaster; three daughters, Danita R. Tidwell of Lancaster and Tiffany N. Simpson and Arkevia T. Cloud, both of Great Falls; two brothers, Larry Tidwell and his wife, Betty, of Lancaster and Palmer Tidwell and his wife, Patricia, of Fort Lawn; four sisters, Barbara McIlwain of Great Falls, Dessie Renee Boulware and her husband, Charles, of Knightdale, N.C., Sharon Caldwell and her husband, Larry, of Rock Hill and Linda J. Davis of Chester; and 15 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at King's Funeral Home, 2367 Douglas Road, Great Falls, and at other times at the home.
The body will be placed in the church at noon Thursday.

Mrs. Sheila B. Desrosiers, 52
CHESTER - Graveside services for Mrs. Sheila Diann Boulware Desrosiers of 104 Academy St. will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Friday, June 15, in Cool Branch Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Roger Epps officiating.
Mrs. Desrosiers, 52, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at her residence.
born in Chester County on Feb. 11, 1955, she was a daughter of Odell B. Boulware and the late Davis Harold Boulware. A graduate of Chester High School and a member of Cool Branch Baptist Church, Mrs. Desrosiers was a retired secretary from the Chester DMV District Office of the S.C. Department of Highways and Public Transportation.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Desrosiers; a son, Scott Boulware of Winnsboro; her mother, Odell B. Boulware of Carlisle; a stepson, Jeremy Desrosiers of Charlotte; two stepdaughters, Marcie Thaxter of Asheville, N.C., and Rebecca Desrosiers of San Diego; a brother, Harold R. Boulware of Chester; a sister, Lisa Cooper of Lugoff; and three granddaughters.

Mr. Little, 68, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at his residence surrounded by his wife, son, family, friends and his devoted dog, Buddy.
born in Albemarle, he was a son of the late Ralph Christopher and Elma Poplin Little. A 1957 graduate of Harding High School in Charlotte, Mr. Little was retired from Roadway Express and was a charter member of Brookwood Community Church. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca McKenzie Little; a son, Keith Randall Little Jr. and his wife, Jean, of Chester; a daughter, Rebecca Wimmer Oliver and her husband, Scott, of Rock Hill; two grandchildren, Megan Carlyle Oliver and Benjamin Elliot Oliver, both of Rock Hill; and three sisters, Jane Little Cox of Charlotte, Gayle Little Austin of Watkinsville, Ga. and Judy Little Randall of Mooresville, N.C.

born in Columbus County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Posta and Joanna Mills Harrelson. A graduate of Tabor City High School, Mrs. McCallum was a member of First Baptist Church of Chester.
Survivors include a niece, Shirley Long of Tabor City, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Carl McCallum; and a son, Richard O'Neal McCallum.
