Mr. James Wyman ‘Rock' Gladden, 69
LEXINGTON - A memorial service for Mr. James Wyman “Rock” Gladden will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Friday, June 15, at Lexington United Methodist Church. A private burial service will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park cemetery.
Mr. Gladden, 69, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007.
born in Great Falls on June 19, 1938, he was a son of the late James Alexander and Jessie Margaret Gladden. A graduate of the University of S.C., Mr. Gladden earned his master's degree from Appalachian State University. Prior to becoming principal of Lexington High School in 1969, Mr. Gladden worked as a teacher and coach in Great Falls. He later worked in banking and as a real estate appraiser. After returning to education administration with Lexington School District One, Mr. Gladden retired in 2001 as the transportation coordinator for the district. An active member of Lexington United Methodist Church, Mr. Gladden served as treasurer of the Lexington County Gamecock Club. He also served on the town's Building Codes Board of Adjustment for more than 20 years and belonged to the Lexington Cotillion. A former member of the Lexington Lions Club, Mr. Gladden enjoyed golfing at the Country Club of Lexington, where he had been a member for more than 35 years.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Linda Moore Gladden; two daughters, Meg Eliatamby and her husband, Deepal, of Columbia and Karen Samples and her husband, Steve, of Newnan, Ga.; a granddaughter, Kaylin Dorothy Samples; two sisters, Peggy Williford and her husband, Bill, and Carol Stall and her husband, Bobby, all of Summerville; one uncle; and seven nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the LUMC Building Fund, 309 East Main St., Lexington, SC 29072.
Caughman-Harman Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements.

CHESTER - A memorial service for Mr. Whitfield John "Pee Wee" Clark Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, at the home with the Rev. Steve Anderson officiating.
Mr. Clark, 74, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at his residence. He was born Oct. 1, 1937.
Survivors include his wife, Loraine Walgamotte Clark; two sons, Whitfield Clark Jr. of Richburg and Owen Leslie Clark of Hammond, La.; and a brother, Wilbert Clark of Slidell, La.

CHESTER - Mrs. Georgia Estelle Bullard Crenshaw, 97, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Chester Regional Medical Center.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Sealy officiating. The interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Barron Funeral Home.

CHESTER – The funeral for Mrs. Minnie Lucille "Lou" Feaster Campbell of 1125 Sylvia Hicklin Drive will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Gethsemane Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Charles Pratt Sr. will officiate, the Rev. Terry O. Feaster will preside and the Rev. Julia Hemphill, the Rev. Ferlin Feaster, the Rev. Jelester Sanders, the Rev. Barbara McClinton and the Rev. James Owens will assist. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

GREAT FALLS - The funeral for Mrs. Charlotte Virginia Chandler was held at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Fowler officiating. Burial was held in Greenlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Chandler, 85, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Springs Memorial Hospital. She was born May 15, 1927.
Survivors include three sons, Chris Chandler, Timmy Chandler and Jeff Chandler; and four daughters, Marvina Garcia, Patricia Carmichael, Charlene Chandler and Robin Buchanan.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Chester with Rev. Clay Waldrip and Dr. Dwight Pearson officiating. The interment was held in Old Purity cemetery.

Mrs. Annie Mae Rollings Gainer, 89
LANCASTER - A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Annie Mae Rollings Gainer was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Eaves, the Rev. Steven Bowers, the Rev. Gregory Batchelor and the Rev. Patrick Clark officiating. Burial followed in Faith Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Gainer, 89, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at her home. She was born Oct. 15, 1923.

The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Red Hill Baptist Church in Woodward with the Rev. Carl Jackson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

CHESTER - Mr. Edward Lee Melton Sr., 90, affectionately known as "Apple Man" or "Big Apple, " died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at his residence.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Parkway Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Dorsey officiating. The interment was in Chester Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Rosita Louise Thompson, 83
CHARLOTTE - Rosita Louise Thompson, age 83, left us to be with the Lord on Dec. 31, 2012, at a Charlotte nursing facility where she was surrounded by her loving family.
She was formerly of Chester and was the daughter of the late Gordon W. and Bertie McFalls Thompson. She was retired from retail sales and she was a Presbyterian. She loved visiting the mountains and long walks.

Mrs. Ward, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Chester Regional Medical Center. She was born Aug. 29, 1937.
Survivors include a son, Robert E. Guyton of Chester; two daughters, Tracey D. Ward and Emily D. Ward, both of Chester; and one brother, William A. Causey of Chester.

ATLANTA, GA. – Mr. James Edward Cushman died Wednesday in Atlanta, Ga. He was 84.
From his birth on Oct. 11, 1930 in Chester, S.C. to Anne Frazer Cushman and Carl Golden Cushman in Chester, S.C., his family and friends called him Jimmy, Atlantans called him Jim. As a term of endearment, his mother and daughter-in-law affectionately called him Gem.
