Irwin A. Moton
Mr. Irwin A. Morton, 50, of Trenton, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at Barnwell County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. at Old Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Louis T. Coley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Morton, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Old Piney Grove Baptist Church. He was a 1981 graduate of Strom Thurmond High School.
Survivors include five brothers, George Moton, Edgefield, Jeff Moton, Sammie L. (Alberta) Moton, North Augusta, Nathaniel Moton and Raymond Moton, Trenton; four sisters, Annie W. (Levolia) Nelson, Florence, Gertrude Moton, Trenton, Florence (Charles) Jones, Richmond, Va., and Mary L. (Rufus) McManus, Edgefield; and a host of other relatives.

Jelina Hall Newsome
Mrs. Jelina Hall Newsome, 75, of Ridge Spring, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, with her husband of 57 years, Hilory “Tom” Newsome and other family members at her side.
A Celebration of Life service was held Thursday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Johnston, with Pastor James Houck officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were T.J. Baughman, Frank Inglett, Jamie Whittle, Jason Dorn, Brad Newsome and Michael Newsome.
born in and a lifelong resident of Ridge Spring, Mrs. Newsome was a daughter of the late Joe and Florence Hall. A cosmetologist for many years, she retired from Chesterfield Court in Aiken. Prior to her health declining, she enjoyed flower gardening and cooking. She loved singing and listening to gospel music and sung lead in the Glad Tithing Quartet for 25 years.
She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Thomas Michael Newsome, and a daughter, Patsy Newsome Price, (Richard) both of Ridge Spring; siblings, Johnny Hall (Darnell) Aiken, Edna Johnson, Pelion, and Louise McGlocklin, (Buddy) Ridge Spring; grandchildren, Thomas Brad Newsome, Michael Jason Dorn, Angie Inglett and Jennifer Price; and great-grandchildren, Brad Michael Newsome, William Robert Newsome, Austin Lee Price, Michaela Renee Dorn, Natalie Morgan Dorn and Nathan Cole Dorn.

Mrs. Theresa Riley, 64, of North Augusta, wife of Johnny Riley of Shannon Drive, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Her Funeral Mass and Prayer Vigil were celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, with Father Cherian Thalakulam as celebrant. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.
Additional survivors include a son, Tommy Gerard Riley; two brothers, John Sherlock and Matt Sherlock; and two sisters, Rose Ann Sherlock and Mary Riley.

Memorial services for Mrs. Rhonda Johnson “Nana” Vivas, 41, of Hidden Circle, North Augusta, who died Dec. 2, 2010, were conducted Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2:30 p.m. at North Augusta Southern Methodist Church. Rev. H. B. Johnston officiated.
Mrs. Vivas was a life-long resident of North Augusta and a member of North Augusta Southern Methodist Church. She was a former employee of U-Finish-Furniture for 15 years and office manager for Edgefield Veterinary Clinic for five years. She had a love for animals and wildlife rehabilitation.
Survivors include her husband, Scott Vivas; her parents, Wade and Jearrie Johnson, North Augusta; two sisters, Carlene Hydrick, North Augusta, and Heather Johnson, Tokyo, Japan; two nieces, Stephanie Hydrick Almasy and Samantha Hydrick; two nephews, Toby Hydrick and Jacob Hydrick.

Mrs. Eva Durham Steadman, 99, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.

Mr. Moore died Friday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral for Ms. Mary Ann Kinchen of Weldon Lane will be held at 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 3, at the chapel of Washington Funeral Home. The Rev. Cookie Washington will officiate and burial will follow in Elizabeth Heights Memorial cemetery in Great Falls.
Ms. Kinchen died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.
Survivors include three sisters, Cora Woodard, Johnniemae Lamar and Margaret Turner, all of Ridgeway.
The family is receiving friends at the home.
John Alston Edwards Sr.
Mr. John Alston Edwards Sr., 58, of Mims Street in Edgefield, husband of Susan Amerson Edwards, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Graveside services were held Friday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. at Eastview cemetery in Edgefield.
Mr. Edwards was born in Greenwood and was the son of Raynell Edwards and the late Beatrice Lake Edwards. He was a retired mechanical engineer at MCG and he was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife and father, survivors include two sons, Alston Edwards Jr. and Frank Edwards; three daughters, Julia Angela Price, Kathleen Nicole “Nikki” Monroe, Jamie Andrea Graham; a stepson, Michael Markwell; a stepdaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Lollis; two sisters, Candice Olney and Trudy Duncan; a brother, Ray Edwards; and nine grandchildren.

Frederick R. Favour
Memorial services for Mr. Frederick R. Favour, 78, of Cardinal Drive in Trenton, who died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. at Posey Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating.
Mr. Favour, a native of Lancaster, Mass., made North Augusta his home for the past 29 years. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Favour was a co-owner of Estate Jewelry Company of North Augusta, past commander of the Savannah River Sail and Power Squadron, a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and was former commissioner of the Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Arlene Favour; a son, Gary Favour, Trenton; a daughter, Susan Favour, Belvedere; a sister, Florence Brown, Sterling, Maine.

Mrs. Bridgie Sherlock, 85, of Blanche Drive in North Augusta, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Mr. Holmes, 40, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010.
born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Evelyn Wilson Holmes and the late Charles E. Holmes. A member of Antioch Baptist Church, Mr. Holmes attended public school in New York and graduated from Chester High School in 1988.

The funeral for Mr. Walter Bernard Gaither, formerly of 38 Nickey Road, Great Falls, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church in Great Falls with Pastor Randy Billie officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gaither died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas W. Gaither of Prospect, Penn., Herman K. Gaither of Beaufort and Edmund Berry Gaither of Boston; and two daughters, Glenda Davis of Atlanta and Diane Gaither-Thompson of Cincinnati.

Mr. Richard Duane “Hank” Bennett II, 18, of Boiling Springs died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at his home.
born in Chester on May 24, 1991, he was the son of Helen Glynn Henderson Bennett and the late Richard Duane Bennett. He was a member of Spartanburg First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving in addition to his mother is a sister, Jordan Bennett of the home; his maternal grandparents, David and Mildred Henderson of Chester; his paternal grandparents, Beau and Mary Bennett of Chester; and his paternal grandmother, Virginia Baxter of Amsterdam, Mo.
Mr. Bobby Joe Neal, 59
The funeral for Mr. Bobby Joe Neal of 325 Oregon St., formerly of Chester, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 26, at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, 211 Lakewood Ave., Charlotte. Burial will follow in Mount Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery in Rodman, Chester County.
Mr. Neal, 59, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Durham, N.C.
He attended public school in Chester County and graduated from Finley High School, where he was a basketball player. Mr. Neal also attended Clinton Junior College and was a U.S. Army veteran.
