GREAT FALLS: Chief Petty Officer John "Rags" Quincy Ragsdale, Jr., U.S. Navy Retired, of 6530 Heritage Road, Winnsboro, SC died Saturday June 20, 2009 at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, SC. He was 58.
Funeral services will be 11:00a.m. Wednesday at Lake Wateree Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
born August 11, 1950 in Williamston, SC he was a son of John Q. Ragsdale, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Henderson Ragsdale. He was a graduate of Palmetto High School in Williamston, SC. Chief Ragsdale entered the U.S. Marines and later retired from the U.S. Navy, having served in the Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf War.
Surviving in addition to his father of Williamston, SC are his wife, Dorothy Blackmon Ragsdale; two daughters, Denna Ragsdale Crawford of Anderson, SC and Lesley Ragsdale Childers and husband Randy of Anderson, SC; two sons, John Russell Starnes and wife Monique of Marianna, Florida and William Randall Starnes and wife Josephine of Goose Creek, SC; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Rodney Ragsdale of Williamston, SC and four sisters, Joan Ragsdale, Melisa Duffie, and Donna Graddick of Greenville, SC and Cindy Thompson of Williamston, SC.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 at Lake Wateree Baptist Church.

William Lawson Henson

GREAT FALLS: Mr. William Lawson Henson of Chapin, SC and formerly of Great Falls died Friday, June 26, 2009 at Lexington Medical Center. He was 90.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Mount Prospect United Methodist Church in Richburg with the Rev. Doug Chambers and the Rev. John Rumford officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
born March 28, 1919 in Blackstock, SC, Mr. Henson was a son of the late William and Mattie Garrison Henson. He attended the schools of Richburg and was retired from J.P. Stevens Company. Mr. Henson served his country as a U.S. Army veteran during WWII.
Surviving are his daughter, Evelyn Blackmon of Chapin; brothers, Lindsey Henson of Chester, SC and Bobby Henson of Valdese, NC; sisters, Della Rexrode of Chapin, Alice Wallace of Chester, and Flossie Henson of Valdese. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Varnadore Henson.

born July 5, 1947 in Fort Mill, SC, Mr. Spinks was a son of the late Johnny Columbus Spinks and Edna Misskellie Spinks. He attended the schools of Lancaster and Great Falls and had previously worked with Essex as a forklift operator. He was a member of Mitford Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Marines having served during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Lucas Spinks; two daughters, Tammy Spinks and Amanda Spinks both of Great Falls; one son, Robert Dean Spinks, Jr. of Great Falls; two brothers, Richard Spinks of Lancaster, SC and Mike Spinks of Rock Hill; one sister, Faye Spinks of Fort Lawn, SC; five grandchildren, Brook, Michael Dean, Tela, Rain, Gage. He was preceded in death by a son Michael Dwayne Spinks.

born January 11, 1922 in Rock Hill, SC, Mrs. Leonhardt was the daughter of the late Lee and Daisy Humphries Wilson. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 64 years, Fred D. Leonhardt. She is survived by sons Roddy Leonhardt (wife, Bonnie) of Great Falls; Michael Leonhardt (wife, Muriel) of Winnsboro; and daughter, Brenda Lucas (husband, Donnie), of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Leonhardt will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who touched the lives of all who knew her.

born August 19, 1917 in Swansea, SC, Mrs. Scott was a daughter of the late Charles and Lula Craft Walsh and the widower of Walter Scott, Jr. She received her education at the Mount Zion Institute in Winnsboro, SC and was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. where she worked as a cloth inspector. She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Charles W. Scott and wife, Sonya of Knoxville, Tn.; two daughters, Mary Kathryn Sanders and husband, Mike of Blackstock, SC and Elizabeth Ann Scott of Clinton, SC; one sister, Ruth McSweeney of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Edgar Walsh and Otis Walsh.

born April 3, 1939 in Kershaw, SC, Mr. Reeves was a son of the late Clyde B. and Dollie Parker Reeves of Kershaw, SC. He attended schools in Great Falls and graduated from Great Falls High School. He worked for J.P. Stevens Company until 1982 and retired from the Chester School District in 2003. Mr. Reeves was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country from August 25, 1959 and was honorably discharged as Sgt. Clyde W. Reeves, Sr. on July 31, 1965.
Surviving are his wife, Tommie (Katie) Morrison Reeves; two sons, Clyde W. Reeves, Jr. and wife, Leslie, of Sharon, SC and Wayne Reeves and wife, Jennifer, of Winnsboro; one daughter, April Reeves Bentley and husband, Scottie, of Richburg; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Reeves of York, SC; and one sister, Noveline Christopher of Sumter, SC.

CHARLES E. MOSS, SR.
December 7, 1930 - February 7, 2010
Charles Edward Moss, Sr., 79, of 206 Francis Ave., Great Falls died Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Trinity Baptist Church, Great Falls. Reverends Patrick Blackmon and Curtis Cameron will officiate and burial will follow at Greenlawn cemetery in Great Falls.
Mr. Moss was born December 7, 1930 in Spindale, NC. He was the son of the late Olin V. and Jettie Moss. He was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church having served as a Deacon, Treasurer, choir member and other leadership positions. He attended the Great Falls schools and graduated from high school in 1949. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years including service during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in 1972 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. At the time of his retirement, he was serving as an Instructor at the Electrician Mate “B” School in Great Lakes, IL. He served aboard seven ships and three shore stations during his naval career. He served aboard two navy icebreakers, two destroyer escorts, two submarine tenders and an aircraft carrier. He served in both the Arctic and Antarctic while stationed aboard the icebreakers. He was accompanied by his family while stationed aboard the USS Hunley, a Polaris submarine tender in Holy Loch, Scotland for three and a half years.
After his Navy retirement, he worked for Seco Electronics, a division of Dana Corp in Lancaster, SC for 19 years as a Production Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sims Adams Moss and three children by his first wife, Elizabeth Croxton Moss; one son, Charles E. Moss, Jr. and wife, Melissa of Great Falls; two daughters, Tracy Stolarski and husband, Mike of Atlanta, Ga. and Karen Noah and husband, Dale of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by four step-children; ten step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Osborne and husband, James of Great Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Croxton Moss and a sister, Joyce Wilson.

born in Berne, Indiana, August 4, 1924, Mr. Beer was the son of the late Wilbert Beer and Della Zurcher Beer. He attended the schools of Decatur, Indiana, was a Veteran of the US Army having served during WWII and a member of Mt. Prospect United Methodist Church. Mr. Beer was a retired Dairy Farmer and a member of Farm Bureau.

born November 11, 1945 in Great Falls, he was the son of the late Boyce and Mary Ivey Threatt. He attended Great Falls High School and completed his education while serving in the military. He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Threatt was employed in the textile industry as a maintenance worker.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Higgins Threatt; two sons, James B. Threatt and Tiffany of Greer, SC and Clifton B. Threatt of Woodruff, SC; one daughter, Kelly Jackson and husband, James, of Woodruff, SC; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Carolyn Raffaldt of Great Falls, SC.
