Mr. Eddie Padgett, 62, of Trenton, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011.
A Celebration of Life Service with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, was held Thursday, Jan. 27, at 6 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church in North Augusta, with Pastor Roger Wheeler officiating.
born in Augusta, Ga. and a lifelong area resident, he was a son of Mary Huntington Lever of Trenton and the late James Bernard Padgett. Prior to his health declining, he was a heavy equipment operator and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was of the Baptist faith. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of sergeant.
In addition to his parents, family members include his former wife and dear friend, Margit Padgett, Clearwater; children, Christel Akers, North Augusta, Susan Lange, Germany, Terry Roberts, Burnettown, and Jerry Roberts, (Judith) North Augusta; grandchildren, Elias Lange, Amanda Roberts, Brianne Roberts, Hope Roberts, Dylan Akers and Evan Akers; and a great-grandchild, J.R. Whitfield.

Charles D. “Doug” Roddy Sr.
Coach Charles D. "Doug" Roddy Sr., 81, of Village Parkway in North Augusta, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at V.A. Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, with burial in Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta with military honors. Mr. Roddy was born in Gastonia, N.C. and was a member of the Edgefield Church of God. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a graduate of Paris High School in Greenville. He was a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg. Mr. Roddy was a coach and teacher at Edgefield and Strom Thurmond High Schools. He retired from civil service at Fort Gordon, Ga. He was a member of the DAV and the Jessie Lynch Lodge. He was also a member of the Concordia Lodge # 50.
Survivors include a son, C.D. "Doodle" (Lynn) Roddy, North Augusta.; a daughter, Teresa (Mike) Meigs, North Augusta.; a brother, Harold T. Roddy, Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Frances E. Ferguson, Gastonia, N.C.; three grandchildren- Heather R. (Dale) Neal, Ashley Roddy, Daryl A. Strickland.; four great-grandchildren, Brandyn and Amber Menger, Clayton Kashner, Caitlynn Hurt. He had two special caregivers, Bobbie Roddy and Shirley Phillips.

Teresa L. Scott
A memorial service for Teresa L. Scott, of Milwaukee, Wis., was held Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Ward Baptist Church in Ward.
A native of Ward, Miss Scott died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Annie Ruth Scott.
Family members include aunts, Catherine Johnson and Winnie Mae Clark; cousin and special sister, Pam Long (Joel); special nephews, Clifton Long (Angela) and the late Christopher Long; special niece, Jessica Long; special great nephew, C.K. Long; and special great nieces, Haley and Katelyn Long.

Harold ‘Buddy’ Baker Robinson Sr.
Mr. Harold “Buddy” Baker Robinson Sr., 85, of Evans, Ga., died Monday, May 4, 2009 in University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel with Dr. L. Gordon Robinson officiating. Burial was Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Robinson was born in Augusta, Ga. After graduation from Richmond Academy, he played semi-pro baseball. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He returned to Georgia and worked for the Augusta Police Department for 25 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, H. Buddy (Peggy) Robinson Jr., Ronald (Glenda) Robinson, Gregory (Denise) Robinson; two sisters, Evelyn Faulkner, Huntsville, Ala., and Margaret Padgett, Edgefield; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Willie Belle Sauls Robinson.

Charles T. ‘Charlie’ Mathis
Mr. Charles T. “Charlie” Mathis, 94, husband of the late Mattie Parks Mathis, of Edgefield, died Sunday, May 10, 2009.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Edgefield First Baptist Church. Burial was in Eastview cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Mathis was a native of Edgefield County, was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion for 60 years. He was a retired owner of Parks and Mathis Furniture Store. He served on the Edgefield City Council for 27 years. He was a former deacon of Peace Haven Baptist Church and a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church. He served on the Strom Thurmond Statue Committee and he was a grand marshal of two Christmas parades. A plaque was placed on the Town Square for his service to the town and community. He was also famous for his day lilies that he donated to the Town Square. He was the president of the Huddle House Coffee Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlene (Danny) Rickerson, Martinez, Ga., Kay (Ken) Bodine, Pendleton; a brother, Lee (Catherine) Mathis, Edgefield; two sisters, Dorothy Rummel and Rose Morgan, both of Durham, N.C.; four grandchildren, Dana and Chad Rickerson, and Ashley and Matt Bodine.

George Daniel Bailey
A Memorial Mass for Mr. George Daniel Bailey, Retired Major, U.S. Army, of the Merriwether Community in Edgefield County, will be celebrated on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 856 Old Edgefield Road, North Augusta. Burial will be private.
Mr. Bailey, born Feb. 22, 1918, died Friday, May 1, at 91 years old. born in Middletown, N.Y., he was the younger son of the late Burt and Reina Wallace Bailey. He was a career officer in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II, having taken part in the assault on Omaha Beach on D-Day of the Normandy Invasion. His military tours included Orleans and Fontainebleau, France and Seoul, Korea. He retired from the military at Fort Gordon and in 1968 made his permanent home in Merriwether.
He was a veracious reader and engaged in a wide variety of hobbies. He was an HO model train enthusiast, astronomer, metal worker, light fixed wing pilot, gourmet cook, ham radio operator, artist, musician, computer programmer, archer, rifle and pistol expert and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was multi-talented and self-taught in most of his interests.
He is survived by his son, James D. (Laurie) Bailey, Aiken, daughter, Beverly (John) Sniffin, Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, G. Daniel (Tara) Bailey II, Evans, Ga., Sarah Elizabeth (Greyson) Thomas and J. Samuel Bailey, Aiken Christine (Colin) Formulak, John R. (Kristin) Sniffin, Ned H. Sniffin, Ellen (Charles) Barrett; great-grandchildren, Erin and Bennett Formulak, all of Virginia; and numerous Bailey-Boehm nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and older brother Richard, he was predeceased by the love of his life, Ellen Boehm Bailey, his wife of 63 years.

Ellen Quattlebaum Willis
Mrs. Ellen Quattlebaum Willis, 83, of Monetta, died Thursday, April 9, 2009.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, at 3 p.m. at Ridge Spring cemetery, with the Revs. John Steele and Vollie Gibbs officiating.
Mrs. Willis was born in Aiken County, the daughter of the late Ernest Quattlebaum and the late Ruby Howard Quattlebaum. She was the wife of the late Ben Willis and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Monetta.
Surviving are her children, Alex Willis (Ivie) and Debbie McIntosh (Sammy) of Monetta; grandchildren, Shaylah McDonald (Barry) of Leesville and Joel Deer, (Hank) of Aiken; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt McDonald and Owen Deer.
She was predeceased by a brother, Alton (Pete) Quattlebaum.

North Augusta, SC - Mrs. Dorothy Stewart McDaniel, 77, wife of the late W.J. McDaniel of Lakeside Dr., entered into rest Friday, July 2, 2010 at University Hospital. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Meyer and Dr. Roy L. Head officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park. A native of Lyons, GA, Mrs. McDaniel had made North Augusta her home since 1950. She was a member of Belvedere First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Joe Schmidt Sunday School Class as well as the Golden Age Group. She retired after forty years as an office manager with Prudential Insurance. She is survived by a son, Terry McDaniel (Terry Lou) of Sebeka, MN; a daughter Beverly McDaniel and her partner Pam McKnight of Charleston, SC; two brothers Ralph Stewart of Reidsville, GA and Edward Stewart of Cumming, GA; a sister Mary Alice Wilder of Vidalia, GA; two grandchildren, Christopher McDaniel and Karen Mach and four great grandchildren, Cameron McDaniel, Jasmine McDaniel, Owen Mach and Vivian Mach. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Stewart.

Martinez, GA… - .Mr. Maurice Gerald Cook, 78, husband of Janet F. Cook, entered into rest March 2, 2010 at Doctors Hospital. His memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 6, 2010 in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James M. Ford and Pastor Bill Hilley officiating. Interment will be private. Mr. Cook was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Cook touched many lives and had a strong Faith in his Lord. Soul winning was always his top priority and he considered his Christian service to be the most important service of all. Mr. Walker was born in Leesville, LA and was a retired Project Manager with Westinghouse. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Augusta, North Augusta Country Club, Past President of the Belvedere Jaycees and was a former State JCI Senator. Mr. Walker served in the U. S. Army and was a Vietnam War Disabled Veteran. Mrs. Wisniewski was retired from Lily Tulip after over thirty years of service. She was Valedictorian of her class at Glascock County High School, attended Berry College and was a war-time school teacher. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Carl Wisniewski (Cindy), of Columbus, GA and Joe Wisniewski (Tina) of North Augusta; two daughters, Monica Wisniewski of Savannah, GA and Robin Boyd (David) of Blythe, GA; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Wisniewski; a daughter, Joan Wisniewski; her parents, Hubert and Essie Belle Williford; and two brothers, Jack Williford and Hubert Williford.
