North Augusta, SC - Mr. William Edward Chase, 75, husband of twenty years to Christine C. Chase, of Siskin Circle, entered into rest on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Doctor’s Hospital. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Francis Ford officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park with Military Honors accorded by the US Air Force. Mr. Chase lived in North Augusta since 1972. He loved photography and was an avid FSU Football fan. He was a Christian who loved God, his family and reading his Bible. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force. Additional survivors include one son, Stephen Kyle Chase of Tallahassee, FL; four daughters, Kathryn Chase Davis of Clarks Hill, SC, Lori Chase Davis of Martinez, GA, Elizabeth Chase Ufret of Augusta, GA, and Esther Kitchens of Waynesboro, GA; and one sister, Alice Eldridge of Indianapolis, IN. Pallbearers will be James Blackwell, Josh Davis, Justin Davis, Christopher Parrish, Brent Meyers, and Joseph Avret. Honorary Pallbearers will be Drew Meyers and Eric Davis.

Lucille Baughman Bush

North Augusta, SC - Mrs. Lucille Baughman Bush, 77, wife for 59 years to Mr. James C. Bush, Sr., entered into rest on Monday, May 9, 2011 at her residence. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Pineview Memorial Park with Dr. Randy Cooper officiating. Mrs. Bush, a native of Charleston, SC, had lived in North Augusta since 1949. She was a former President for the PTA, a worker for the March of Dimes, and a member of the Jr. Women’s Club. She was also a co-owner of Jim Bush Flower Shop and a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Additional survivors include three sons, Charley Bush, Dickie Bush and his wife Lissa, and George Bush and his wife Marcia; one daughter, Terri Webb and her husband Rick, all of North Augusta, SC; one sister, Iris Suggs of Durham, NC; and eight grandchildren, Richard (Crystal), John and Gregory Bush, J.P. and Malena Bush, and Jackson, Ryan and Abbe Webb. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Bush and was the daughter of the late Donnie and Sandy Baughman. The family would like to express their appreciation to Trinity Hospice of Aiken and to Mrs. Bush’s best friends, Faye Cupstid and her husband Tom.

Queen Ester Briggs, of Ridge Spring, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 16, at 3 p.m. at Church of God in Johnston.
Surviving are four sons, Lorenzo Briggs, Carl Michael Briggs, Cornell Briggs and Herman Briggs; a daughter, Joyce B. Gibson; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mammie Blocker, Mary Ella Anderson and Rosa Ada Anderson; two brothers, Willie Nicholson and Isiah Nicholson Jr.
Mike Carroll
Mr. Mike Carroll, 89, of Heatherwood Drive in North Augusta, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at University Hospital.
The Mass of Christian Burial and Prayer Vigil were held Saturday Aug. 8, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Edward Catholic Church, with Father Cherian Thalakulam as celebrant. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Sherlock and Bridget Riley; and a son, John J. Carroll.

Leslie Shults Layman
TRENTON - Mr. Leslie Shults Layman, 65, of Youngblood Road in Trenton, husband of Judy Hendrick Layman, died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 21, at 2 p.m. at Living Word Fellowship in Trenton.
Mr. Layman was a native of Newport, Tenn. and was a member of Living Word Fellowship. He was a retired lineman with the Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Shannon Philpot, Trenton, a daughter, Tracy White, Trenton; three grandchildren, Rachel, David and Ryan.

Daniel Fallaw
Mr. Daniel Fallaw, 68, of Monetta, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. Vollie Gibber and Charles Yoho officiated.
Mr. Fallaw was born in Ridge Spring, son of the late Dan and Grace Autry Fallaw. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and was a former deacon. He was an Army National Guard veteran. He was a Mason and member of Lodge #134 of Ridge Spring. He also coached Little League baseball. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Rodgers Fallaw; sons and daughters-in-law, Lance (Michelle) Fallaw, Ridge Spring, Anthony (Denise) Fallaw, Monetta; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth (Allen) Oxendine, Monetta, Cindy (Joey) Foreman, Jackson; a brother, Robert Fallaw, Ridge Spring; sisters, Barbara Riley, Batesburg, Mary Hallman, Gilbert; and nine grandchildren.

Harriett Jean Bell
Harriett Jean Bell, wife of Don Wagner and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry S. Bell of Ward, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009. She and her husband lived in Smyrna, Ga.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at Johnston Presbyterian Church with burial in Mt. of Olives cemetery.
Harriett attended Darlington School, Rome, Ga., Converse College and graduated from the University of South Carolina. She worked in Washington, D.C. for the Senate Judiciary Committee for several years. She returned to South Carolina and worked for Bank of America. Later she graduated from Midland Technical College, School of Nursing, and moved to Atlanta and worked for Shephard Spinal Clinic. She was a member of Johnston Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by brothers, William Bell (Jenny), Ward, Harry Bell Jr. (Carol), Columbia; and James A. Bell (Dolores), Canal-Winchester, Ohio; niece, Catherine Bell; nephews, Satcher and Corey Bell, and Tyler and David Mercer.

Mr. William Thomas "Tommy" Anderson, 74, of Trenton, husband of 25 years to Beverly Ann Anderson and son of the late Lawrence and Florrie Estelle Blackston Anderson, died Sunday, June 28, 2009.
A Celebration of Life Service was held Wednesday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church, North Augusta, with Dr. Larry Brown officiating. Burial with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army Honor Guard followed in Graniteville cemetery in Graniteville. Pallbearers were his nephews. Members of the Pipefitters and Steamfitters Local $150 served as honorary pallbearers.
born in Grovetown, Ga., Mr. Anderson had been an area resident all his life. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a pipefitter with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #150 after 56 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church, where he was a member of Dr. Brown's Sunday School Class.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Sandra Anderson Bell (Steve), Graniteville, Kimberly Anderson Branham (Brad), Martinez, Ga., Wayne Anderson (Tracie), North Augusta, Russ Anderson, North Augusta, and Steve Anderson (Elizabeth), Evans, Ga.; siblings, Lawrence Anderson Jr. (Barbara), Augusta, Ga., Isabell Snellings and Peggy Poole, both of Grovetown, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Johnston, the daughter of the late Sumpter Eugene Powell and Addie Willing Powell. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesville. She was married
to the late Luther William Jordan. She enjoyed fishing and meeting people. She retired from Union Switch & Signal in Batesburg.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Larry (Connie) Jordan, Ridge Spring, Melvin (Norma) Jordan, Johnston, and Thomas Jordan, Batesburg; grandchildren, Kristie J. Harrell, Krystle J. Hallman and Gary Stone; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Mr. Thomas Davis “Tom” Holstein, of Monetta, will be conducted Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church of Batesburg, with the Revs. Jackie Connelly and John Kneece officiating. The family will receive friends at his home on Wednesday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mr. Holstein died Sunday, June 21. born in Richland County on Aug. 29, 1948, he was a son of the late Louise Jefferies and Richard Henry Holstein Jr. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, the S.C. Farm Bureau and the S.C. Peach Council. He served on state committees for both the Farm Bureau and the Peach Council. He was a graduate of Clemson University in agronomy, a U.S. Army veteran serving as a second lieutenant and a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Carson Holstein; daughters, Kristin H. (Terry) Moore, Columbia, Dr. Ashlyn H. (Dr. Andrew) Savage, Charleston, Carson Elizabeth and Helen Jefferies Holstein of Monetta; brothers, R.H. “Dick” Holstein, Monetta, M. Jeff Holstein, North; ; a sister, Mary H.
