Bruce Edward Timmerman Sr.
Mr. Bruce Edward Timmerman Sr., 84, of Ridge Spring, died Friday, March 25, 2011.
Graveside services were held Monday, March 28, at 4 p.m. at Ridge Spring cemetery, with the Rev. John Kneece officiating.
Mr. Timmerman was born in Ridge Spring to the late Patrick Henry Timmerman and Ada Rogers Timmerman. He was a retired U.S. Coast Guard veteran with 24 years of service. He was a member of Ridge Spring United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his daughter, Sharon L. Vendrick of Charleston; sons, Bruce E. Timmerman Jr. of New Ulm, Minn., Patrick A. Timmerman of Lexington; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Leila D. Timmerman, and his second wife, Odell J. Timmerman.

Dani Yonce
Miss Dani Yonce, 3, of Ridgeview Lake Road in Ridge Spring, daughter of John Preston Yonce Jr. and Stephanie Timmerman Yonce, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at Johnston United Methodist Church, with burial at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Miss Yonce was a native of Edgefield County and she was a member of the Johnston United Methodist Church. She was the 2010 Ambassador for the March of Dimes for the Edgefield area.
In addition to her mother and father; survivors include her brother, Tre’s Yonce; paternal grandfather, John Preston Yonce Sr., Ridge Spring; maternal grandmother, Joyce Montgomery Timmerman, Edgefield; and her uncle, Jamey (Mollie) Timmerman, Edgefield.
Dani was predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Virginia Prescott Yonce, and her paternal grandfather, Jim Timmerman.

Sadie Virginia Percival
Ms. Sadie Virginia “Perci” Percival, of Edgefield, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Medical College of Georgia.
A celebration of her life was held at McCormick Country Club in McCormick on Sunday, March 20, from 2 to 5 p.m., complete with Argentine Tango dancing.
born on May 22, 1939 to Sara and Frank Percival in Edgefield, she was known to most as “Perci.” She graduated from Edgefield High School in 1957. She attended nursing school at the Medical University of South Carolina where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1959. She met Larry Worden in Charleston and they married
in 1961. Later they moved to Berkley, Mich., where they settled until 1976 until they moved to Summerville with their three children. They divorced in 1978. Ms. Percival spent her entire adult life as a caregiver. When she retired from nursing in 2006, she provided live-in care for her ailing best friend and then her mother until her own condition prevented her from continuing. She was talented in drama, music and dance. She often played the piano and enjoyed teaching the piano to her grandchildren. She had a genuine love for music. She especially enjoyed listening to Johnny Mathis and Nat King Cole. She was a competitive ballroom and shag dancer until 2003 when she discovered the Argentine Tango. She devoted much of her spare time in the last eight years to pursuing the joy of the Argentine Tango. She also spent time creating arts and crafts with her grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, Ms. Percival is survived by her sister, Faye Parks; her brother, David Percival; her children, Robin Rast and her husband Bert of Atlanta, Ga., Erica Bowen and her husband Rich of Annapolis, Md., and Major Gregory Worden and his wife Doreen of Augusta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Sarah Rast, Austin Worden, Rebecca Rast and Alysha Worden; her niece, Heather Peele and her children Christian, Britnee and Autumn.
Her father and her sister, Frankie Percival, preceded her in death.

Ralph L. Simms Jr.
Mr. Ralph Lloyd Simms Jr., 48, of Lewie Road in Gilbert, died Saturday, March 19, 2011.
A Memorial service was held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 6 p.m. with a visitation after the service until 8 p.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
Mr. Simms was born in Washington, D.C. and was a plumber.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Barbara Ann Duncan Simms; his wife, Tracey McCormick Simms; a son, Ralph L. Simms III; two daughters, Jennifer and Nicole Bryant; a stepson, Tommie Mitchell; two stepdaughters, Haley and Kalynn Mitchell; a brother, Donald Ray Simms; a sister, Mary Ann Williams; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Simms was predeceased by his father, Mr. Ralph L. Simms Sr.

Margaret Helen Payne
Graveside services for Miss Margaret Helen Payne, 94, of Johnston, were held Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Mt. of Olives cemetery.
Miss Payne, a native of Johnston, died Saturday, March 19. She was the daughter of the late John Howard and Pauline Lewis Payne. A graduate of Johnston High School in 1933, Miss Payne gave the same salutatory speech her mother had given at her graduation. Before graduating from the University of South Carolina, she attended Coker College. Later she received a library science degree from Peabody. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Miss Payne was librarian of Conway High School for 25 years and at Wade Hampton in Greenville for 10 years. After retirement she moved back to Johnston and twice served as president of the Retired Teachers' Association of Edgefield County. A member of Johnston First Baptist Church, she served as prayer chairman of the Gleaner's Sunday School Class and program leader of the Jessie Mobley Circle.
Survivors include cousins and a special friend, Betty Jean Taylor.

Ronald Leroy Meese
Mr. Ronald Leroy Meese, 75, husband of Dianne M. Meese, of Clarks Hill, died Monday, April 11, 2011 at his residence.
Graveside services were held Saturday, April 16, at 3 p.m. at Republican Baptist Church cemetery, with the Rev. Lance Thomas officiating.
Mr. Meese was a native of Canton, Ohio and had made Augusta his home since 1960. He and his wife moved to Clarks Hill in 2001. He was a welder, having retired from Modern Welding after 23 years of service. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, riding his motorcycle with the Masters City Riders Motorcycle Club and babysitting his grandchildren.
Additional survivors include a son, Roy Lee Meese (Meg) of St. Augustine, Fla.; two daughters, Colleen Mathis (Thomas) of Clarks Hill and Kathy Hyman of Plum Branch; 10 grandchildren, Justine Tindall (Joe), Christopher Meese (Jennifer), Jacob Meese, Cody Mathis (Barbara), Jaclyn Meese, Aaron Mathis, John Thomas Mathis, Chandler Mathis and Jesse Mathis; and two great-grandchildren, Cambree Tindall and Damien Meese.

Mr. John Henry “Lil Man” Anthony, 57, of Aiken, did Monday, May 18, 2009.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 24, at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ernest Gordon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include five daughters, Paulette (Dwayne) Campbell, Augusta, Ga., Sharon Anthony, Columbia, Yvette L. Anthony, Clearwater, Santresa (Eon) David, Clarksville, Tenn., and Marjorie (Dwight) Curry, Aiken; two sons, Richard Dublin, Bruceton Mills, West Va., and John Anthony, Johnston; three sisters, Catherine Anthony, Aiken, Annzella Jones, Johnston, and Cathy Luchie, Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Eddie Anthony, Johnston, and Darnell Luchie, Trenton; 13 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Jesse J. Turner
Mr. Jesse J. Turner, 91, of Edgefield, husband of the late Mary McGee Turner, died Friday, May 8, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 14, at 11 a.m., at Edgefield First Baptist Church, with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with military honors.
Mr. Turner was born in Trenton and was a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church. He was retired service manager for Pendarvis Chevy-Olds. He was a veteran of World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a Master Mason and was a member of the American Legion Hezzie Griffis Post #30.
Survivors include his daughter, Ann (George) Long, Woodland Park, Colo.; and three grandchildren, David, Peter and Caroline.

Pearline Curry
Ms. Pearline Curry, 49, of Bradley Drive in North Augusta, died Saturday, May 9, 2009.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 15, at 1 p.m. at Shaws Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. R.C. Holloway officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ms. Curry, a native of Edgefield County, was a graduate of Strom Thurmond High School. She was employed by the Savannah River Site Company and was a member of Shaws Creek Baptist Church in Trenton.
Survivors include her parents, Albert and Ruth Mathis Curry, Edgefield; two sisters, Patricia A. Curry, Irmo, and Mary Mays, Aiken; two brothers, Capt. Albert Curry Jr., Stafford, Va. and Milton Curry, Columbia; and a host of other relatives.

Mary C. Carroll
Mrs. Mary C. Carroll, 76, of Foxfire Court in North Augusta, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at her residence.
The Mass of Christian Burial and Prayer Vigil were celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, with Father Cherian Thalakulam as celebrant. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.
Survivors include two sons, Jay Carroll and Hughey Carroll; a daughter, Mary Costello; brothers, William Costello and Jimmy Costello; three sisters, Cathy Sherlock, Bridget Costello and Shirley Riley; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Marshall Hightower III
Mr. Marshall Hightower III, 54, of Murrah Road in North Augusta, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, at 2 p.m. at Brightharp & Sons Mortuary Chapel, with Minister Beatrice Lee officiating. Burial will be in Mealing Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife Chantell Brown Hightower; two daughters, Lataisha S. (Demetrius) Clyde and Kera S. Hightower, Augusta, Ga.; two sons, Folando F. Walker, North Augusta, and Phillip Frank, Augusta; his mother, Charlsie Mae Hightower, North Augusta; two sisters, Barbara Hightower and Jeanette (Leon) Palmer, Augusta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Arley Joe McCreery
Mr. ArleyJoe McCreery, 77, of Montvale, Va., died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at his home.
born on April 4, 1934, in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. McCreery. He graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in 1952. In 1956, he graduated from Duke University with a B.A. degree in accounting. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was also a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity Gamma Chapter. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. After military service, he was employed with Price Waterhouse as a C.P.A. in Atlanta for several years after which he relocated to Roanoke, Va. where he was employed by Schwartz & Company. In 1968, he purchased the business where he served as president and CEO until his retirement.
He was survived by four sons, Joel (Beth) McCreery, Edgefield, Randy McCreery, Montvale, Daren (Angie) McCreery, Johnston, and Tyler McCreery; a daughter, Shannon McDaniel, Roanoke; and seven grandchildren, Meghan, Dylan, Sarah, Sadie, Jessica, Josh and Jonathon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald McCreery, and his sister, Norma McCreery.

Samuel Hughes Nicholson Jr.
Mr. Samuel Hughes Nicholson Jr., 55, of Edgefield, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Self- Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Graveside services were held Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m. at Eastview cemetery.
Mr. Nicholson was born in Edgefield and was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church. He worked at Pendarvis Chevy- Olds.
Survivors include a son, Samuel Crozier Nicholson, Charlottesville, Va.; two sisters, Duane E. Nicholson, Charleston, Mary Hughes Walker, Columbia; a brother, Collins D. Nicholson, Edgefield.
