Ruby Inez McCary
Miss Ruby Inez McCary, 97, of Edgefield, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, with burial in Eastview cemetery in Edgefield. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. before the service at the funeral home.
Miss McCary was a native of Edgefield County and was a member of the Edgefield Church of God. She was a retired textile worker.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Theo McCary; eight nieces; and five nephews.

Laura Mae Mathis Minick
Mrs. Laura Mae Mathis Minick, 78, of Johnston, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 28, at 4 p.m. at Riverside Community Center in Saluda. Burial was in Rock Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Mathis was born in Saluda County, the daughter of Mary S. Mathis and the late Johnny B. Mathis. She was a member of Willow Spring Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, she was survived by two sons, Curtis Minick Jr. and Carson Minick; three daughters, Betty Dobbs, Mary Weaver and Brenda Herrin; two brothers, Henry Mathis and Joseph Mathis; three sisters, Regina Mathis, Lula Mae Weaver and Barbara Ann Cheatham; 23 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Rosalie Parnell
Mrs. Rosalie Parnell, 87, of Clarks Hill, wife of 70 years to Mr. Sanford Elwood Parnell, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011.
A graveside service was held Friday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bill Harrell officiating.
Mrs. Parnell was a native of St. Pauls, N.C. and resided in the Augusta, Ga. and Clarks Hill area for the past 50 years. She was a member of Abilene Baptist Church in Martinez, Ga. and was a former member of Fleming Baptist Church of Augusta. Mrs. Parnell retired from E. I. Dupont as paymaster after 26 years.
Family members, in addition to her husband, include daughters, Saundra Holevas of Henderson, Tenn., Adelia Walton (George) of Clarks Hill; grandchildren, Andrea Hargis (Kip), Emory Shead (Kristel), Lea Parsons (Robbie), Garrett Hattaway (Laurie); and seven great-grandchildren.

Virginia Smalley Randall, 77, of Modoc, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 11 a.m. at Modoc Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her brother, John D Smalley of Aiken; three sisters, Ruby S. Howle of Augusta, Ga., Annie S Doolittle of Edgefield, and Sarah Milford of Martinez, Ga.; and her niece, Lucy Hutto.

James Arthur Fuller
Mr. James Arthur Fuller, of Edgefield, husband of Sadie Gunter Fuller, died at his home in Edgefield County on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 7, at noon at Springfield Baptist Church in Edgefield County, with the pastor, Rev. Craig Myers officiating. Assisting were the Revs. Robert Haskell, Roderick Cumming, Eric Butler, Ernest Gordon and James W. Price. Burial was in Bethany Baptist Church cemetery in McCormick.
Mr. Fuller was born Nov. 13, 1951 to the late William T. and Pearl H. Fuller. He was a graduate of W.E. Parker School in Edgefield and was a former employee of Unico of Aiken and Fuller Lawn Service. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and served on the Trustee Board.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Brian (Felisha) Fuller and Justin (Ebon) Fuller; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five brothers, Willie T. (Rose), William T. (Blandenia), Marvin (Rebecca), Richard (Demetric), and Carlton Fuller of North Augusta; a sister, Carolyn Fuller; and a sister-in-law, Varrie (Rev. Robert) Haskell, Augusta, Ga.
A brother, Alexander Fuller, and a son, Kendall Fuller, preceded him in death.

Mr. Johnny Edward Nicholson, 68, of Monetta, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

born in Saluda County, son of the late Ramond Collins and Mary Waldo Nicholson, he was a member of Penn Creek Baptist Church in Saluda. He was employed by Wal-Mart in Batesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Maggie W. Nicholson, Johnston; sons, Johnny (Wilette) Johnson, Johnston, and Alan Nicholson, Monetta; daughter, Gale Nicholson, Monetta; stepsons, Ernest Williams, Johnston, and Darrin (Tracey) Williams, Aiken; stepdaughters, Geneva Williams, Aiken, Gloria Walker (Barry) and Deloris Childs, both of Augusta, Ga., Velma Williams and Belinda (Dennis) Morrison, both of Charlotte, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Barbara Jean Wise Washington
Mrs. Barbara Jean Wise Washington, 66, of Pinecrest Apartments in North Augusta, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.

Mrs. Washington, a native of Saluda County, was a member of New Beginnings Ministries in Johnston.

Eunice Pardue Yonce
Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Pardue Yonce, 97, of Johnston, were held Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Yonce, a native of Edgefield County and widow of the late Samuel Olon Yonce Sr., died Friday, Jan. 8. She was a daughter of the late w. Edward and Mary C. Jackson Pardue. Mrs. Yonce was a homemaker, a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she attended the VIP and WELCA organizations of the church, and was a member of AARP of Edgefield County.
Survivors include three sons, James “Skip” Edward (Pat), Henry Deryl (Mary) and Charles Marion (Diane) Yonce; a sister, Gertrude Morris; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Olon Yonce Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. James William Gibson, 84, of Johnston, were held Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gibson, a native of Edgefield County, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009. He was the son of the late William Franklin and Mattie Hair Gibson. He was a retired farmer and was also retired from SCE&G. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a member of American Legion Post 154 and Kadosh Masonic Lodge 181. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Newton Gibson; a daughter, Mary Katherine Gibson, Aiken; sons, James W. Gibson Jr. (Jo), Thomas H. Gibson (Melanie), H. Michael Gibson (Dixie), and William A. Gibson (Beth); grandchildren, Nickolas, Jessica, Perrin, LeAnn, Rucker and Garrett Gibson.

George T. Moore Sr.
Mr. George T. Moore Sr., 85, of Pine Knoll Lane in Edgefield, husband of the late Harriet A. “Betty” Moore, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born in Braddock, Pa. and was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He was retired as plant manager for WABCO Union Switch and Signal. He was a Navy veteran of World War II where he received the Bronze Star Medal and the Victory Medal of the American Campaign.
Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie M. (Don) Cassels, Edgefield; a son, the Rev. G. Thomas (Kelly) Moore Jr., Lexington; six grandchildren, Donald G. Cassels III, Seabrook (John) Jacob, Jennifer Kyle Cassels, George T. Moore IV, Anna Kyle Moore and Grace Elizabeth Moore; and a great-grandson, Collin Matthew Jacob.
