Nona Sylvia Thompson, 63, of 201 W. Washington Street, Greenville, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Hospice House of Greenville. born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Thompson and Mary Ruth Cogdill Buffington. She was a cosmetologist in Ninety Six and Greenwood for a number of years and was always known for her willingness to help others, especially the homeless. Surviving are two daughters, Tonya Weaver of Greenwood and Deeya Harvley of Hodges; two sons, William Elbert “Skip” Cockrell, Jr. and Jonathan “Chip” Cockrell, both of Greenwood; two sisters, Dessie Stevens of Ninety Six and Sadie Smith of Greenville; a brother, Paul Edward Thompson of Greenwood and seven grandchildren.

John S. "Bubba" Jones, 46, of 607 Clem Road, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Self Regional Medical Center. born in Kingsport, TN, he was a son of J. E. “Buck” Jones, Jr. and Patricia Williams Jones. He was a 1981 graduate of Greenwood High School and was a sales associate in the sporting goods department with Wal-Mart. Bubba was an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman, a member of Phi Kappa Phi, attended St. Mark United Methodist Church and was an organ donor. Surviving are his parents of the home; a daughter, Anna-Blythe Jones of Charleston; a sister, Julianna Smith of Greenwood; a brother, J. Rees Jones and his wife, Lea, of Greenwood; five nephews, Garrett Jones, Brady Jones, Trent Jones, Griffin Smith and Peyton Smith and an aunt and uncle, John and Patricia Williams of Cynthiana, KY.

Marion M. “Monte” Moseley, 83, died March 23, having lived in Greenwood County all of his life. For many years, he owned and ran Cambridge Drug Company, the same Ninety Six drug store as his father. He is survived by a daughter, Marian Moseley of Augusta, GA; a son, Clay Moseley of Jonesboro, AR; a daughter-in-law, Carla Reitz Moseley and their daughters, Elizabeth and Catherine; two nieces, Harriett Williams and Dorothy Parker and their families. He was a beloved father who always did his best to set a good example.

Fred was a retired Truck Driver having worked for Greenwood Motor Lines and R & L Carriers. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by a sister Frances Harmon.
