Mary Virginia “Ginny” Putnam, 83, of 112 Augusta Circle, widow of Vernon “Rock” Putnam, died Monday, May 17, 2010 at Hospice House. born in Ninety Six on August 17, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Eddie and Irma Haltiwanger Corley. She was retired from The County Bank and was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Putnam Teseneer and her husband, Stan, of Bradley and Pat Putnam Spaid and her husband, David, of Metter, GA; two granddaughters, Jessica and Brittany Spaid of Metter; two brothers, Ed Corley of Laurens and Eddie “Bubba” Corley of Gray Court; two sisters, Nita Taylor of Greer and Nancy Turner of Johnston; sisters-in-law, Jane Corley of Johnston and Dot Boyd of Greenwood and brother-in-law, Tommie Christie of Edgefield. She loved her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Corley of Johnston and Bill Corley of Raleigh, NC and a sister, Ann Corley Christie of Edgefield. The family wishes to thank all of those who had a part in making the extended illness easier for the family.

Sarah Jane Miller Reeder, 66, of 713 Brooks Road, died Monday, May 17, 2010 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Clara Fowler Miller. She retired from Greenwood Mills, having worked in the Mathews Plant and the Old Ninety Six Plant. She was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her husband, Horace Reeder; two daughters, Patsy Timmerman and Lynn Hastings and a stepson, William Tony Hastings, all of Saluda; two sisters, Barbara Butler of Saluda and Ethel Craft of Easley; two brothers, Tom Miller of Clinton and Bill Miller of Columbia; a lifelong friend, Lillie Mae Carter of Ninety Six; ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Syble Ouzts Cromer, 70, of 512 Saddle Hill Road, widow of Aubrey E. Cromer, died Friday, May 14, 2010 at Hospice House. born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Graham H. and Elsie O. Ouzts. She was a graduate of Edgefield High School, where she was a member of the 4-H and Beta Clubs, and attended Lander College. She was employed with Self Regional Healthcare as a secretary and was a member of Providence Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Neal Sandel of Orangeburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Darin and Tracy Cromer, Marc and Peggy Cromer and a brother, Rev. Randy Ouzts, all of Greenwood; grandchildren, Tripp Crosby, Brice Crosby, Brandon Cromer, Bryton Cromer, Kaylen Cromer, Kaminer Cromer and Stokes Cromer.

Visitation: John William Titus was born June 23, 1937 in Bradford, PA. He was the third son of the late William and Genevieve (Hinchey) Titus. His brother, Paul, resides in Pittsburgh, PA and his brother, Joseph, who preceded him in death, resided in Hermitage, PA. His two sisters, Ann and Margaret, live in Forest Hills, PA. John attended Bradford Area Public Schools and was a 1955 graduate of Bradford High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and, after basic training, he served at Fort Sill, OK. After his discharge from the Army, he attended St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY, where he graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. On April 1, 1967, John married
Grace Maxson in Shinglehouse, PA. After their marriage, John and Grace lived in the Pittsburgh area and he was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation, where he became Purchasing Manager for the Circuit Breaker Division. In 1985, they moved their family to Greenwood with Westinghouse. When the plant was acquired by Eaton Corporation, John continued to work in the same position until his retirement in 1997. After retirement, John continued to act as Senior Materials Consultant at the Cutler Hammer Division of Eaton. During his years in Greenwood, John was active in both his church and the community. John served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Lourdes and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1987, John was the first Economic Ambassador for Greenwood County as a result of his involvement and influence in bringing six companies into Greenwood County. Eventually, the SC Department of Commerce adopted the program statewide and John was designated the SC Ambassador for Economic Development by Governor Carroll A. Campbell, Jr. in 1988. John and Grace have three children, Mark (Cindy), Matthew (Mollie), and Jennifer (Jeff Brock). All of them graduated from Greenwood High School and each of them have pursued further education and training. John was the proud grandfather of Mark and Cindy’s two children, Jonathon and Brooke, and Jennifer and Jeffrey Brock’s two children, H. Maxson and Genevieve. Last November, John proudly witnessed the wedding of his son, Matthew, to Mollie Watts in Mountville, SC.

David Scurry Scott, 58, of 359 Lick Creek Circle, Waterloo, husband of Robin Pratt Scott, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Self Regional Medical Center. born in Greenwood, he was a son of Mary H. Timmerman and the late Carroll Scurry Scott. He was formerly employed by Moore Business Forms and served in the US Army. He was of the Methodist faith. Surviving is his wife of the home; his mother of Greenwood; a son, Brent Scott of Greenwood; three sisters, Darlene Davenport and Yvonne Bryant, both of Greenwood and Angela Williams of Lexington.

Michael Thomas Anderson, 46, of 301 Dennis Street, Swannanoa, NC, died Sunday, May 9, 2010. born in Greenwood, he was a son of Tom Anderson and Judy McClain Anderson. He was a student at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, Asheville and served in the US Air Force during the Persian Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Swannanoa. Surviving are his parents; a sister, Michele A. Lewis; and a nephew, Ethan Lewis, all of Ninety Six.

Russell R. Rohr, 77, of 308 Greenview Court, McCormick, SC, husband of Jerry Welch Rohr, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Russ was born in Kalamazoo, MI and was the son of the late Richard Lee and Velma Ferguson Rohr. He spent thee years in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Korea. He was proud of his service to his country. Russ retired from Lansing State Journal after having worked 39 years as a plate maker. He and his wife, Jerry, were married
for 54 years. They retired in 1994 and moved to Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick and were members of McCormick United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Jerry; a son, Richard Lee Rohr and his wife, Stephanie, of Eaton Rapids, MI; a daughter, Katherine (Kitty) Kay Rohr of Lansing, MI; five grandchildren: Russell, Richard, Jami, Jena and Griffen; and step-grandchildren, Lyle and Sierra.

Georgia Ozmint Alexander, 84, of 417 Bond Avenue, widow of Thomas Marshall Alexander died Sunday, May 09, 2010 at Hospice House. born in Iva, SC, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Brown Ozmint. Georgia retired from Professional Medical Products and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary. She was a member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church where she served as the assistant teacher of the Tabitha Sunday school class. Mrs. Alexander enjoyed life and her family. Surviving are a son, Steven Marshall Alexander of Greenwood; a daughter, Vickie A. Hananel of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Monteen Ozmint and Linda Threlkeld, both of Greenwood; five grandchildren: Brad Alexander, Amanda Werts, Marko Hananel, Alexandra Hananel and Saul Hananel; and a great granddaughter, Addison Werts.
