Alvin Kuehn, 68, of High Grove Farm, Kirksey, husband of Rebecca Ann Kelly Kuehn, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Self Regional Medical Center. born in Dresden, Germany, he was a son of the late Ferdinand and Hulda Kuehn. He was a retired engineer with Owens-Illinois Glass and served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Calvary Chapel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wilheim Kuehn. Surviving is his wife of the home; a daughter, Christy Delen and her husband, Kevin, of Suwanee, GA; a son, Armand Roux and his wife, Amanda, of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Rebecca Delen and Taylor Delen of Suwanee and Nicole Babcock and a great grandchild, Ashley Babcock of Michigan; a sister, Selma Nutz and a brother, Heinz Kuehn of Bridgeton, NJ.
Douglas P. Gordon
Mr. Douglas P. Gordon, 83, of Washington, D.C., died Saturday, April 17, 2010.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, at Noon at Pleasant Lane Baptist Church in Edgefield, with burial in the church cemetery.
born in Edgefield County, son of the late Willie and Lillie Phillips Gordon, he was a member of Pleasant Lane Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert D. Gordon Sr., Temple Hills, Md., and Milton K. Gordon Sr., Ft. Washington, Md.; four daughters, Addie Gordon Monroe, Ft. Washington, Md., Renee Gordon Johnson, Temple Hills, Md., Jeanette Gordon, Suitland, Md., and Jeanette Gordon Williams, Edgefield; four sisters, Marie Adams, Edgefield, Catherine Shivers and Ethel Long, both of Jersey City, N.J., and Katerina Brown, Maryland; and three brothers, Franklin Gordon, Harold Gordon and Ronnie Gordon, all of Edgefield; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Mr. Robert L. Houston Sr., 57, of Houston Court in Clarks Hill, died Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Medical College of Georgia.

Mr. Houston, a native of McCormick County, was a member of Laura Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert Houston Jr.; two daughters, Yolanda (Patrick) Brown and Lucy Nelson, all of Clarks Hill; his father, Clarence Houston Sr., Philadelphia, Pa.; three brothers, James (Betty) Thompkins Jr., Jacob Thompkins and Clarence (Mattie) Houston, Clarks Hill; two sisters, Marie (Roger) Bright, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Claudia (Willie) Hill, Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Alexis Freeman, Alissa Freeman, Princess Brown, Markeydes Nelson and Austin Bland; and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Thelma Faulkner Miller
Mrs. Thelma Faulkner Miller, 69, of Promiseland Road in Edgefield, wife of Earl Miller, died Friday, April 23, 2010 at her residence.
Graveside services were held Monday, April 26, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Miller was a native of McCormick and was a member of Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church. She was retired from the Edgefield County School District lunch room.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three daughters, Vickie H. (Pat) McDonald, Judy H. Pendrey, Sandra H. (Danny) Medlin; a sister, Jessie F. (Billy) Lewis; a brother, George T. (Dot) Faulkner; five grandchildren, Wade (Molly) McDonald, Leslie Pendrey, Leah Pendrey, Chad (Ashlee) Medlin, Amanda (John) Bellotti; and two great-grandchildren, Wick Medlin and Isabella Bellotti.
Martha Dixon Bryan
Mrs. Martha Dixon Bryan, 87, of Bartley Road in Edgefield, wife of the late Ernest Rhett Bryan Sr., died Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 23, at 2 p.m. at Berea Baptist Church. Burial was in Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Bryan was a native of Avera, Ga. and was the daughter of the late George and Florrie Gibbs Dixon. She was a member of Berea Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 55 years and served as the church’s first hostess. She was retired from Reigel/Mt. Vernon Mills.
Survivors include two sons, Ernest R. “Bubba” Bryan Jr. and his wife Penny, Edgefield, and Dixon B. Bryan and his wife Dianne, Ninety Six; eight grandchildren; and 14 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband; her daughter, Mary Louise Lesesne Mitchell; and two brothers, Ralph and Gibbs Dixon.

Ralph Creighton Corell Sr.
Mr. Ralph Creighton Corell Sr., 59, of Martin, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Lexington County Medical Center in West Columbia.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 15, at 4 p.m. at Seven Pines Baptist Church, with the Revs. Billy Mew, Fred Orr and Mark Epperson officiating. Burial was in Barnwell County Memorial cemetery with Fireman’s Rites accorded.
Mr. Corell was born in Giles County, Va. on May 18, 1950. He was the son of Angelene Pennington Little and the late Lacy Creighton Corell Jr. He was a retired certified production operator at Savannah River Site with 22 years service. He was a member of the Snelling Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Seven Pines Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Barnwell Rescue Squad. He was a graduate of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.
Survivors include his wife, Melanie Moore Corell of Barnwell; mother and stepfather, Angeline P. and Lloyd Little of Barnwell; daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna C. and Mike Wood of Edgefield and Mia C. and George Handberry Jr. of Martin; a son, Ralph Creighton “Creig” Corell Jr. of Barnwell; brothers and sister-in-law, Alan and Brenda Corell of Tampa, Fla. and Mark Corell of Barnwell; grandchildren, Ryan Wood, Corine “Cory” Wood and Cordie Handberry.
He was predeceased by his brother, sister-in-law and niece, Letcher, Elaine and Laci Corell and his aunt, Dorothea Danese Corell.

The Rev. Alice Elam Dunn, of Evans, Ga., died Friday, April 9, 2010.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 16, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Evans, where the Rev. L.J. Tanksley is pastor. The Rev. Nathaniel Irvin officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Dunn is the daughter of the late Abron and Mary Elam of Edgefield.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Deacon Perry H. Dunn Sr.; two sons, Jackie (Renee) Dunn and Perry H. Dunn Jr. of Evans; two daughters, Ethel Dunn Garrett, Evans, and Daphne S. (Davis) Overton, Augusta, Ga.; an adopted daughter, Gertrude McCladdie Harfield, Evans, Ga.; grandson, Perrier Dun; a sister, Captain Hattie R. Mr. Elijah “Sonny” Butler, 60, of 1518 Redd Street in Aiken, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Butler was 1 1968 graduate of Martha Schofield High School.

Clara Elizabeth Cosby Glausier
Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Cosby Glausier, 88, of Park Street in Edgefield, wife of the late Ernest Glausier, died Tuesday April 7, 2010 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Funeral services were held Friday April 9, at 3 p.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, with burial in Eastview cemetery.
Mrs. Glausier was a native of Norwood, Ga. She was a member of Edgefield Church of God. She was a retired textile worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Florene Lunsford, Edgefield; a grandson, Mitchel Lunsford; nieces and nephews; and her caregiver, Nancy Rodgers.

Mrs. Catherine Gorman, of Amelia Drive in North Augusta, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at her residence.
The Mass of Christian Burial and Prayer Vigil were celebrated Wednesday, April 7, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Cherian Thalakulam, celebrant. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.

Margie Deese Lewis
Mrs. Margie Deese Lewis, 89, of Aiken, died Monday, March 29, 2010.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 2, at Concord Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Dr. Elton Dunbar officiated.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Johnston, daughter of the late Leon F. Lybrand and Marie Scott Lybrand. She was married
to the late Roy Lewis. Her favorite things were going to eat with her children and bingo at the Croft House.
Surviving are her children, Bobby Deese (Gloria) of Batesburg, Rita Snipes (Bruce) of Aiken, Patsy Cook (Jimmy) of Wagener, Frank Deese (Vickie) of Mississippi, Marie Penland (Eddie) of Aiken, Ronnie Deese, (June) of Aiken, Perry Deese (Chris) of Aiken; a sister, Althea Parrish; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Annie Lois Asbill.

William Newman
Mr. William Newman, 63, of Augusta, Ga., died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at UniHealth PAC.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 13, at 11 a.m. at Reedy Creek Baptist Church cemetery, with Dr. Don Widener officiating.
Mr. Newman was a native of Jefferson County but had lived in Augusta for many years. He was a vending machine mechanic and had worked for Augusta Sportswear. He was a Navy veteran and a Methodist.
Survivors include his mother, Frances Newman, Aiken; two sisters, Barbara (Irwin) Hillman, Thomson, and Nettie Valentine, Augusta; two brothers, Hillary Eugene (Gail) Newman, Texas; Jimmy (Cindy) Newman, Edgefield; and a former wife and son, Brenda Harden and Billy Harden.
