Cynthia McGee Moore
Mrs. Cynthia McGee Moore, of Trenton, wife of David L. Moore Sr., died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011.
A memorial service to celebrate her life was held Saturday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating.
Mrs. Moore was the daughter of Cathryn H. McGee and the late Horace D. McGee of Aiken. She retired from Bi-Lo Food Stores after 15 years of service in Lexington.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Krista (Chris) Faulk; a son, T.G. (Angel) Sawyer III; grandchildren, Crystal, Bethany and Chris Faulk, Madison McGee Carter, Savannah and Saylor Rose Sawyer; brothers, Dale (Karen) McGee, Dan (Barbara) McGee; a sister, Patricia McGee; stepsons, David (Monica) Moore and Jason Moore; and step-granddaughter, Trinity Moore.
She was preceded in death by her father and baby boy Tommy Gene Sawyer II.

George E. Parrish
Mr. George E. Parrish, 82, of Pine Street in Edgefield, husband of Judy Dye Parrish, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at National Health Care.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
Mr. Parrish was born in Denmark and was the son of the late Dock Edward and Lillian Ruth Parrish. He was retired from Proctor and Gamble and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Lynn Parrish, Edgefield, Cathy (Robert) Hudson, North Augusta, and Ruth (Sonny) Floyd, Seneca; two sisters, Mary Lee Baker, Bennettsville, and Patricia Yaros, New Jersey; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

John Milton Quarles Jr.
The funeral for Mr. John Milton Quarles Jr., 70, of Decatur, Ala., was held Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Edgefield First Baptist Church in Edgefield, with the Rev. Stacy Williams officiating. Burial was in Eastview cemetery.
Mr. Quarles died Friday, Feb. 18, at his home. He was born May 19, 1940 to John Milton Quarles Sr. and Margaret McGee Quarles. He was a 1963 graduate of Clemson University. He served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant in the First Reconnaissance Squadron, Second Armored Calvary Regiment from 1963 to 1965. He retired from the position of CEO/president of Wolverine Tube Inc. in 1998. After retiring from Wolverine, he made his home in Destin, Fla. where he enjoyed fishing and boating.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Anne Timmerman Quarles; daughters, Michelle Quarles Patterson (Frank), Kimberly Quarles Pickell (Randolph), Deborah Quarles Oglesby (Richard); his sister, Frances Quarles Hinely; grandchildren, Whitney Michelle Guinn (Shaun), John Pelham West Pickell, Reid Edward Oglesby and Grant Evan Oglesby.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mrs. Josephine Prescott Garrett, 71, of Edgefield, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab.

Mrs. Garrett, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, William Garrett; three sons, Bettis C. Prescott, Willie E. H. F. “Frank” Rawl
Mr. H. F. “Frank” Rawl, 75, of Roland Avenue in Johnston, husband of Judith Quarles Rawl, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 201l at his residence.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. at Johnston Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Rawl was born and raised in Johnston and was a retired U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Johnston American Legion Post 154.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a stepson, Mitchell (Cyndi) Murrell; a stepdaughter, Angela Murrell; five grandchildren, Colbey, Taylor, Rachel, Savannah and Shelby; two brothers, Billy (Alida) Rawl, Johnny (Carol) Rawl; two sisters, Bobbie Daniels and Blondell (Walter) Leopard.

DaJuan Antwaivious Willingham
Funeral services for DaJuan Antwaivious Willingham, of Clarks Hill, were held Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Beulah Grove Baptist Church in Augusta, Ga., with the Rev. Hubert Quiller officiating. Burial was in Spring Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
DaJuan was a rising freshman at North Augusta High School. He was a member of Full Gospel Church, Augusta, Ga., where he served as the drummer. He was the grandson of the late Louis and Minister Mattie Mozelle Allen.
Survivors include his mother, Rev. Melissa Allen: father, Raymond (Maureen) Willingham; a sister, Jacquara Willingham; a brother, Byron Mason Willingham; his grandfather, Cluese Tanksley; his grandmother, Josey Willingham; his great- grandmother, Minnie Hardy Hawkins; and a host of other relatives.

Mr. Karl Benner, 82, of Plum Branch Rd., died March 11, 2010 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Benner was born in Alten Buseck, Germany and was a retired Auto Mechanic. Survivors include his sons, Willi Benner, Pete Benner, and Paul (Lisa) Benner; daughter, Maria Maestri; sister, Emmi Nass; grandchildren, Sean Benner, Lucas Benner, Matthew Maestri, Amanda Benner, Kate Gardner, Samantha Benner, Wesley Fulhum, and Carrie Anne Fulghum; great grandchildren, Isabella Benner and Nathanael Benner. Mary E. Price, 97, of 2082 Lakeview Drive, Johnston, passed away on March 10, 2010. She was a member of the Bacon Chapel FBH Church. Funeral Services was held Sunday March 14, 2010 at the Bacon Chapel FBH Church. Rev. Delmar Calloway, Eugolist. Interment was in the Church cemetery. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Lela P. Services for Pauline McGee Steele, 91, the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Wittenberg Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Sherman officiating. Mrs. Steele died Sunday March 14, 2010. born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Fannie Doolittle McGee. She was a member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church, retired from JB Martin Company and was a former receptionist at Barr-Price Funeral Home. She was a member of the DAV, American Legion and VFW Auxiliary. Surviving are a son, David Mayson of Las Vegas, NV, 4 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews including Peggy and George “Skip” Harris of Lexington. She was predeceased by her husband, G. Cecil Steele and a son, James Henry Mayson.

Mrs. Marlene V. Grubbs-Davis, 62, of Clarks Hill, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Medical College of Georgia.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 17, at 2 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Columbia Road Chapel. Burial followed in Westview cemetery. Pallbearers were Steven Bargeron, Johnathon Black, Gary Love, Daniel Love, Brian Basey, and Kevin McBride.

Emory Doyle Hughes
Mr. Emory Doyle Hughes, 66, husband of Lois Hughes for 28 years, of Highpoint Road in Edgefield, died Thursday, May 19, 2011.
His graveside inurnment service was held Sunday, May 22, at 3 p.m. at Republican Baptist Church with the Rev. Lance Thomas officiating.
born in Savannah, Mr. Hughes had made the Augusta-North Augusta area his home for most of his life. He loved God and reading his Bible and was a member of Republican Baptist Church. A retired carpenter, Mr. Hughes enjoyed working with his hands, building things, household projects and working outside. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching sports on TV.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Tyler Wilson (Becky) of Roanoke, Va.; two daughters, Kim Wilson (Lester) of Edgefield, and Cissy Wilson; a brother, Charles Hughes (Margo) of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Joy Mallard (Wade) of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Amanda Ham, Jaimie Ham, Crystal Camden and Graham Wilson; two nephews, Doyle Hughes and Wade Mallard; two nieces, Rosie Luna and Ginger McGee; and numerous cousins.

Mrs. Helen M. Culpepper, 78, of Merriwether Community in Edgefield County, SC, entered into rest in the presence of loved ones and family on March 12, 2010 at Trinity Hospital. Entombment will be private. Mrs. Culpepper was a native of Macon, GA, a faithful founding member of Belvedere Church of Christ, and a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Culpepper is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Leslie Culpepper; a daughter Laura Bowden Griffin (Gary) of North Augusta; two brothers, Bob R. Barnette (Annette) and R. Earle Barnette (Evelyn) Both of Macon, GA; a sister, Edna G. Christine Chrisco Gladden
Funeral services were held Friday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at Lake Creek Baptist Church in Cedartown, Ga. for Mrs. Christine Chrisco Gladden, with the Rev.’s Darrell Webb and Curtis Turner officiating. Burial was in Valley View cemetery. Pallbearers were Doug Chrisco, Everette Chrisco, Britt Chrisco, Steven Chrisco, Henry Chrisco and Rennison Robbins, and Tab and Julie Andrews. Honorary pallbearers were the faculty and staff of Cedartown Middle School.
Mrs. Gladden died Tuesday, July 19, at the age of 67. She was a native of Edgefield and had lived in Cedartown since her marriage.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Gladden; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Delois Gladden; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Mark Tatum; grandchildren, Jonathan Tatum and Christine Tatum; brothers and sister-in-laws, William Lee and Dot Chrisco, Henry Steve and Betty Chrisco, and Hugh E. and Georgia Chrisco; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
