Mrs. Tommie Green, of Augusta, Ga., died Sunday, July 24, 2011.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son, with the Rev. Russell Brisco officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery in Clarks Hill.
Mrs. Green, 92, wife of the late Albert Green, was a native of Edgefield. She worked as a launderer for over 30 years in New York.
Family members include her daughter, Rose Clark; grandchildren, Johnnie, Linda, Judy, Lola and Ben Clark; sister, Georgia Garrett; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Gloria Ellen Leedy-Hartley
Mrs. Gloria Ellen Leedy-Hartley, of Ridge Spring, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at the age of 84, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A graveside memorial service was held Saturday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at the Hartley Family cemetery on Kneece Mill Road in Batesburg. The Rev. Joseph Acord officiated. She requested her body to be cremated.
Mrs. Leedy-Hartley was born Sept. 2, 1926, in Isiban, West.Va., to the late Leonard Walter Leedy Sr. and Myrtle Lee Rose-Leedy. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Philip Austin Hartley, who she met while both were serving in the Armed Forces; three daughters, Patricia Ann and husband James Messar, Batesburg, Mary Kathleen Pace and Richard J. Arrington, Batesburg, Christine and husband Arnold G. Bailey, Batesburg; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Ann Hartley-Carver; a sister, Mary Alice and husband Steven Keith Horton; 10 grandchildren, Erich James Messar, David James Chalker-Hartley, Jerry Preston Hartley, John Travis Hartley and wife Jessica, Michael Alan Pace, Brandon John Bailey, Ben Hartley Bailey and wife Barbara, and Tracy Ellen Bailey; four great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Cecelia Hartley, Montana Rose Hartley, Dakota Austin Hartley, and Haley Nicole Bailey.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Philip Hartley.

Mrs. Catherine Woods Risher
Mrs. Catherine Woods Risher, 83, of Sheppard Drive, wife of the late Edgell L. Risher, Sr. died August 1, 2011, at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Survivors include 2 daughters Faye (Bill) Vaughan, Ninette (Jimmy) Whitlock, one son Edgell L. Risher, Jr., 2 stepchildren, 4 sisters Melissa Bunch, Marie Taggart, Mildred Burbage, Peggy (Larry) McCracken, 3 brothers Lambert Woods, Earl Woods, Gene Woods and a number of grandchildren, great grand and great great grandchildren.
The family is at the home of her daughter Faye Vaughn on Old Chapell Ferry Road and will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Faye Taylor Cato
A graveside service for Mrs. Faye Taylor Cato, 97, of Ridge Spring, was conducted Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011 in Ridge Spring cemetery, with the Revs. John Wertz and Chris Yeargin officiating.
Mrs. Cato widow of James W. Cato, died at her residence on Monday, Aug. 8, after a lengthy illness. born in Leesville, she was a daughter of the late James Moses and Birdie Risinger Taylor. She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and participated in the Adult Sunday School Class and WELCA. She was a graduate of Newberry College and a retired educator, serving schools in Aiken and Edgefield Counties for 39 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Sandra (David) Sawyer Jr., Ridge Spring; grandchildren, Becky (Dray) Wannamaker, Bonnie (Zach) Matthews, and Beth Ann Sawyer; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Faye and Drayton Sawyer Wannamaker.
She was predeceased by a brother, Jake Taylor, and sisters, Rose Drafts, Wilma Rikard, Mary Ruth Taylor and Rae Moir.

Barbara J. McManus
Mrs. Barbara Jean “Bobbie” McManus, 77, of Edgefield, died Friday March 5, 2010 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Graveside Services were held Sunday March 7, 2010 at 2 P.M. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield.
Mrs. McManus was born in Greenwood, S.C. and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a Foster Parent for W.E. Parker School and she was a Homemaker.
Survivors include her husband- Milledge Turner, 1 daughter- Diann (Mike) McCary, 11 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren.
Andrew Nickolas Anderson
Mr. Andrew Nickolas Anderson, 33, of North Augusta, husband of Erica Clark Anderson, died Sunday, May 15, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
At his request, Anderson will be cremated and Pulsar will dedicate a concert in his memory on Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m. in Maude Edenfield Park in North Augusta.
born in Augusta, Ga., and a resident of the area most of his life, he was the son of Merrilee Anderson and the late Thomas J. Anderson. A graduate of both the University of South Carolina and Augusta State University, he had a B.S. in business administration and a B.A. in music. He loved music, both playing as well as teaching. He was also fond of playing video games. His love for music was evident in the fact that he traveled abroad to Birka, Sweden, where he taught and played in jazz groups at Birka Folkhogskola. He was a drummer throughout the southeast for various bands. Prior to his health declining, he taught percussion at Strom Thurmond High School.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a brother, Alexander B. Anderson, North Augusta.
The family has asked that memorials be made in his memory to the Augusta State University Foundation Wycliffe Gordon Jazz Scholarship Fund, 2500 Walton Way Augusta, GA 30904.
Friends are invited to call at the home of his mother, Merrilee Anderson, 1907 Lodgepole Ave., North Augusta, on Saturday, May 21, from 2 until 5 p.m.

Graveside services for Ms. Mary Patricia Bedenbaugh, 49, of Stephens Road in North Augusta, who died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, were conducted Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m. in Sweetwater cemetery, with Dr. Paul W. Noe officiating.
Ms. Bedenbaugh was a lifelong resident of the Sweetwater Community and a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Patricia Stephens Bedenbaugh.
Survivors include her daughter, Magan Nycole Bedenbaugh, North Augusta; her brother, Stephen T. Bedenbaugh, North Augusta; and several cousins.

Howard Garfield Goode
Mr. Howard Garfield Goode, 71, of Cherokee Drive in North Augusta, died April 28, 2011.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, at noon at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, with the Rev. G.L. Brightharp officiating. Burial was in Old Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Goode, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. His entire tour of duty was in Germany. He attended Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte, N.C.
Survivors include two daughters, Valeta Goode, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Portia Goode-Jackson, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Dr. Adriana D. (Roland) Crump, Marlboro, N.J.; a stepbrother, Oscar (Rubena) Kemp, Beech Island; a nephew, Erik Jason Crump; a niece, Felicia Allison Crump; a great-niece, Adriana Elyssa Santiago Crump; a great-nephew, Carnello Ezra Santiago Crump; a devoted caregiver, Deitra Mims, North Augusta; and a host of other relatives.

George Wood Holtzlander
Mr. George Wood Holtzlander, 93, of Pine Knoll Lane in Edgefield, husband of the late Elizabeth Holland Holtzlander, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held Friday, May 20, at 4 p.m. at Willowbrook cemetery in Edgefield.
Mr. Holtzlander was born in Hibbing, Minn. and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a Harvard graduate in 1940. He was a retired chemical engineer at Dupont.
Survivors include a daughter, Christine Hodgson, Edgefield; a son, Joseph H. Holtzlander, Lewes, Del.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

Louis Vincent Lanzilli
Mr. Louis Vincent Lanzilli, 90, of Edgefield, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Services were held at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Lanzilli was born in Portsmouth, N.H., and was of the Catholic faith. He was a retired barber and hairstylist. He was a member of the South Miami Lion’s Club where he served as secretary. He also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Richard Kogan of Edgefield.

Mary Ellen Doolittle Murrell
Mary Ellen Doolittle Murrell, 83, wife of the late Earl F. Murrell, of Pebble Court in Johnston, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Graveside Services were held Monday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, with the Rev. Josh McClendon officiating.
Mrs. Murrell was a native of Edgefield County. She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Murrell, Johnston, and Jeanette (Raymond) Derrick, Johnston; one grandson, Ray (Lisa) Derrick, Jacksonville, Fla.; one great- granddaughter, Lacey V. Derrick; and a brother, Strom (Annette) Doolittle, Greenwood. Mrs. Murrell was predeceased by a son, Larry O. Murrell.
