Miss Sharhonda O. "Miko" Hammonds, 34, of West Buena Vista Avenue in North Augusta, died Monday, May 10, 2010.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 14, at 2 p.m. at Old Macedonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Lane officiating. Burial was in Jeter Baptist Church cemetery.
Miss Hammonds, a native of Edgefield County, attended Strom Thurmond High School. She was a member of Jeter Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Derrick Hammonds; her mother, Annie Bell Thomas Hammonds (Irving); her father, James Allen Hammonds; a sister, Valerie Thomas; four half brothers, Bobby Hammonds, Jerome Sharpton, McKelvin Mealing and Allen Cummings; her grandmother, Mary Emma Hammonds; devoted nieces, Lucresha Thomas and Zhane' Alston; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Henry Key Sr., of Ridge Spring, were held Friday, May 15, 2010 at Jerusalem Baptist Church and cemetery in Ridge Spring.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie B. Key; two sons, Henry Key Jr., Robert M. Key; a sister, Abney Bourne; a brother, Walter Key; and two grandchildren.

Mamie Willis McDaniel
Mrs. Mamie Willis McDaniel, 90, of Edgefield, wife of the late W.O ”Sonny” McDaniel, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 13, at 3 p.m. at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Mrs. McDaniel was born in Edgefield County and was a member of Red Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a retired rural mail carrier.
Survivors include three daughters, Catherine (Bobby) Christie, Edgefield, Mary Jean (Junior) Jackson, Modoc, and Patricia Griffis, Edgefield; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Herman Monroe Padgett Sr.
Mr. Herman Monroe Padgett Sr., 83, of Edgefield Road in Trenton, husband of Mae Carpenter Padgett, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Mattie C. Hall Nursing Center.
Graveside services were held Friday, May 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Ebenezer cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Padgett was born in Trenton and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from Graniteville Company with 43 years of service. He was a life-time member of the N.R.A.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by a son, Gett Padgett, Lexington; and two grandsons, Matthew Padgett, Adam (Jennifer) Padgett, both of Lexington.

Esther Walker Wright
Graveside services for Mrs. Esther Walker Wright, 94, of Columbia, were held Thursday, May 13, at 3 p.m. at Bush River Memorial Gardens in Columbia.
Mrs. Wright, a native of Belvedere and formerly of Johnston, died May 11 at her home in Columbia. She was a daughter of the late Elizabeth Roper and Pierce Butler Walker. She attended North Augusta High School. She worked at Riegel, Inc. and retired from the Edgefield County School Lunchroom. She loved her yard, home, sewing, handiwork and family. She was a member of Johnston First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
Survivors include daughters, Martha W. “Betsy” Walsh (Raymond, deceased), Columbia, Susan Sufka (Carl Banks), Chapin; a son, H. Stephen Wright, Palm Desert, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Ayden Sufka, and a great-grandson, Laird Sufka, both of Myrtle Beach; and a brother, Pierce B. Walker, Belvedere.
She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.

Rosa Bell 'Little Bit' Griffin
Mrs. Rosa Bell "Little Bit" Griffin, 89, of Ellis Street in Edgefield, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 12, at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Edgefield, with the Rev. Edward Lloyd officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Griffin, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Earline Smiley, Fort St. John, Fla., Richard (Willie) Parks and Dianne (Arthur) Parks, Aiken; two sons, Donald (Betty) Griffin, Edgefield, and the Rev. Michael (Zenobia) Griffin, Oviedo, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Elease Patten and Jessie Mae (Rev. Sam) Middleton; and a host of other relatives.

Funeral services for Ms. Bertha Abney, 99, of Johnston, were held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Rosa Spring Baptist Church, with the Rev. Winston Oliphant officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery in Saluda.

Mary Elizabeth Dugar
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Dugar, 101, of Horry Street in Aiken, died Friday, June 11, 2010 at the UniHealth Powst Acute Care of Aiken (Mattie C. Hall Center). She was the wife of the late Mark Anthony Dugar.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in Aiken, with the Rev. Douglas A. Slaughter officiating. Burial was in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Before relocating to Aiken in 1942, Mrs. Dugar was a resident of Edgefield. She was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church and a member of the Smith Hazel Community Center Seniors Group.
She is survived by a son, Luther Dugar, Aiken; three grandchildren, Robert “Bobby” Dugar, Jamaica Queen, N.Y., Mark Anthony (Shunte) Dugar, North Augusta, and Keith Pixley, Aiken; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany (Kersem) Dugar-Williams and Mark Dugar, all of Jamaica Queens, N.Y.; Jalen and Myles Dugar, both of North Augusta; a great-great-grandchild, Kelma Dugar, Jamaica Queens, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy “Jimbo” Glenn Powell, 60, were held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Bland Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
"Jimbo, ” a native of Johnston, died Saturday, June 19. He was a son of the late Lewis Earl Sr. and Cora Harris Powell and was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by sisters, Sandra Holmes, Sara (Rea) Bryan and Linda Priest; brothers, Lewis Powell (Mildred), Laverne Powell (Carolyn), and James Bolen.

John Oscar Rutland
Funeral services for Mr. John Oscar Rutland, 62, of Ridge Spring, were held Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Rutland, a native of Edgefield County, died Monday, June 14. He was a son of the late Lewis and Olive Kirkland Rutland. He retired from Avondale Company and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Glinda Rutland; a daughter, Kimberly Rutland; and brothers, Maxie (Sara) and Carlton (Shirley) Rutland.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Allen, and a sister, Janice Fulmer.

Sam Kenneth Wood
Funeral services for Mr. Sam Kenneth Wood, 86, of Edgefield, were held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church, with burial in Red Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Wood, a native of Edgefield County, died Tuesday, June 15. he was a son of the late Thomas H. and Minnie P. Wood. He retired from construction with Cross Country Pipe Lines, was a Navy veteran of World War II where he served in the European –African and the Asiatic-Pacific conflicts. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
He is survived by a sister, Joan Morgan; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

James P. "Jake" Doolittle
Mr. James P. (Jake) Doolittle, 86, of Hwy 23 West in Modoc, husband of the late Sallie Mae Doolittle, died Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the V.A. Medical Center.
Graveside services were held Sunday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at Red Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Doolittle was born in Edgefield County and was a World War II Army veteran. He attended Red Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a retired textile worker.
Survivors include three daughters, Sallie Ann Smith, Modoc, Lois Feagin, Edgefield, Patricia Doolittle, North Augusta; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
