Jay Randall Neumeister
Jay Randall Neumeister, 66, of Columbia, died September 26, 2010, after a 5-month battle with cancer. born, August 5, 1944, in Indianapolis, IN, the son of the late Elizabeth E. Neumeister House Boyd and Ralph E. Neumeister. Jay’s father unfortunately died in WWII in the Normandy invasion before he was born. His mother and maternal grandmother, Bessie Reed, moved from Indianapolis to St. Petersburg. Jay’s grandmother was a special person in his life. Jay was active in Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School, earned a certificate in Architecture and Civil Technology from Pinellas Technical Education Center and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Building Construction from the University of Florida. He was a member of Alpha Phi Omega, a national service fraternity. He remained an avid “Gator” fan throughout his life. Jay served as project manager for numerous commercial and residential construction projects in Florida. He had a love for architecture and design and was a skilled designer and draftsman. He was the owner of Royal Palm Design in Royal Palm, FL., designing many homes in and around Royal Palm. Jay was also a skilled craftsman. Most recently, for over a decade, he assisted Peggy and Henry McMaster repairing residential properties around the University of South Carolina campus. As was his nature, he gave unselfishly and freely of his time and talents. His willingness to help others, quick smile and sense of humor will be missed. He had a generous heart and was one who never met a stranger. Jay is survived by a son, John of Waxhaw, NC, a sister, Kathleen House Robbins of Columbus, NC, a brother, Alan House, and nephew, Ryan House, both of Seminole, FL. A private memorial service was held in November in North Carolina. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Foundation, designated for Hospice, P.O. Box 100199, Dept. 274, Columbia, SC 29202.

Viola Brown
Funeral services for Viola Brown, of North Augusta, were held Sunday, Aug. 1, at 2 p.m. at Willow Spring Baptist Church, Edgefield, with the Rev. Gordon pastor, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Frances Brown and Yvonne (Horace) West, both of Detroit, Mich., and Mary (Robert) Gartrell, Johnston; a granddaughter raised as a daughter, Gail Brown, North Augusta; and a god-niece, Susie (Johnny) Herrin, Aiken; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Amos & Sons Funeral Home, Johnston, was in charge of arrangements.

Richard A. “Tony” Furr Jr.
Mr. Richard A. “Tony” Furr Jr., 42, of Edgefield, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Mr. Furr was a native of Richmond County and was a resident of Edgefield. He loved being with his daughter Heather and being outdoors. He was a carpenter, an avid fisherman and a fan of NASCAR racing.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather Furr, Lincolnton; his mother, Sharon Furr, Grovetown; his father, Richard (Martha) Furr Sr., Augusta; a brother, Robert (Carole) Furr Sr., Grovetown; and life companion, Patricia Enevoldsen, Edgefield. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Starling Funeral Home, Harlem, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.

Eugene Harvey Fowler
Mr. Eugene Harvey Fowler, 80, husband of Mrs. Ouida O. Fowler, of Edgefield, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at his residence.
Graveside services were conducted Friday, June 10, at 1l a.m. at Pineview Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Lance Thomas officiating. Military honors were rendered at the graveside.
Mr. Fowler a native of Rome, Ga., spent most of his life in Pennsylvania before moving to this area in 1985. He was a Baptist and was a retired electrician for I.B.E.W. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Additional survivors include two sons, Kenneth Fowler (Bonnie), Clearwater, Darryl Fowler (Debbie), North Augusta; three daughters, Debbie Messina (Victor) Clarks Hill, Stephanie Mountain (Craig) Augusta, Ga., Shannon Reep (Tim) Rimersburg, Pa.; a half-sister, Mary Clyde, Alma, Ga.; two stepsisters, Nina Birch and Frances Luke; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a son, Eugene Fowler, and a daughter, Penny Fowler.
McNeill Funeral Home, Martinez, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Neal “Big H” Hegler Sr.
Mr. Jerry Neal “Big H” Hegler Sr., 72, of Hwy 23 West in Modoc, husband of the late Gail Hammack Hegler, died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at University Hospital.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at Red Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Hegler was a native of Jefferson, Tenn. and was of the Baptist faith. Though he lived in Modoc for most of his life, he traveled extensively while working for Crane Construction Company of Northbrook, Ill., from which he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and CB radios. His biggest passion was his family. Jerry loved to have cook-outs, barbecues and family dinners (especially Thanksgiving) to enjoy all the children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Crystal (Bobby) Hunt, Jerry Neal Hegler Jr., Janie (Gary) Stevens, Vincent (Melody) Hegler; two brothers, Charles (Dot) Hegler, Mickey (Susan) Hegler; a sister, Maryanne Brewster; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, plus one four-legged constant companion, “Myrtle.”
Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William Hendrix
Funeral services for Mr. William L. Hendrix, of Ridge Spring, were held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 1 p.m., at Monetta Baptist Church and cemetery.
Survivors include a sister, Sheila Whitt; three brothers, James Willie Hendrix, Charlie Hendrix and James Hendrix; a special friend, Margaret Cullum; and a granddaughter, Kiante Cyrus.
Davis Funeral Home of Ridge Spring was in charge of the arrangements.

Eddie Mulholland
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Eddie G. Mulholland, 60, of Maher Street in North Augusta, who died June 3, 2011 was conducted Wednesday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church, with Father Cherian Thalakulam as celebrant. Final Prayers and Commendation were in Pineview Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Patricia Mulholland; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Diana Riley, North Augusta; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and T.R. Sherlock, North Augusta, Sherry Ann and Kevin Barrineau, Warrenville, and Cathy Salena and Anthony Freeman, Wagner; four brothers, Brian Mulholland, Jimmy Mulholland, Pat Mulholland and Tommy Mulholland, all of North Augusta; two sisters, Mary Ann O'Hara and Susie Mulholland, both of North Augusta; and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Mulholland was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Riley.
Posey Funeral Directors of North Augusta was in charge of arrangements.

Debbie Robinson
Funeral services for Mrs. Debbie Robinson, 50, of Sweetwater Road in North Augusta, who died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, were conducted Friday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Grace Fellowship Church, with the Rev. Phillip Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Sweetwater Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Perry, Andy Perry, Travis Perry, Ben Butler, James Riley, Stephen Kitchens and Randall Riley.
Mrs. Robinson was a life-long resident of North Augusta and a member of Grace Fellowship Church. She was a cosmetologist at Uniquely Ours for 24 years.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Timothy Robinson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Tony Mariano, and Megan and Ray Cleveland all of North Augusta; her mother, Mattie Perry, North Augusta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Kevin McMillian, Edgefield, and Lori and Ben Butler, Aiken; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Debra Perry, Edgefield; four grandchildren, Madison Mariano, Caroline Mariano, Regan Cleveland and Isabella Cleveland; special friends and coworkers, Cindy Kitchens, Tracy Perdue, Mary Frances Beck and Pam Mayo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gorman K. Perry, and brother, Christopher Perry.
Posey Funeral Directors of North Augusta was in charge of arrangements.

John G. Sherlock
Mr. John G. Sherlock, 53, husband of Rose Ann Sherlock, of Edgefield Road in North Augusta, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011.
His Funeral Mass and Prayer Vigil were celebrated Monday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, with Father Peter Clarke as celebrant. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.
Additional survivors include two sons, Black Pete Sherlock and Tommy Alysious Sherlock; one daughter, Mary Ashley Riley; his mother, Winnie Ann Sherlock; one sister, Mary Ann Riley; and two grandchildren, Katsyn Riley and Johnny Ringo Sherlock.
Rowland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jimmy Watson
Mr. Jimmy Watson, 59, of Greene Street in Ridge Spring, husband of Susie Smith Watson, died Friday, June 10, 2011 after an extended illness.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at Ridge Spring cemetery, with the Rev. John Kneece officiating.
Jimmy was born in Edgefield, the son of Jim and Lois Burdashaw Watson. Raised in the Baptist Church, he was educated through the Edgefield County School System and graduated from night school. He was a talented musician and gifted guitarist.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Carson McBee Watson; a daughter Jane Brunson Watson; a daughter by a previous marriage, Jeannine Watson Polson (Derek); grandchildren, Haley E. Polson, Andrew Taylor Polson, North Augusta; a brother, Jerry Watson, Statesboro, Ga.; three sisters, Patricia Batson, Greenwood, Jennie Lee Jennings, Batesburg, Jane Watson, North Augusta; and an aunt, Joann Painter (Jimmy), Edgefield.. Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Hayward Allin
Mr. Charles Hayward Allin, 68, of Aiken, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Charles Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Ga.
A celebration of life ceremony was held on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the VFW Post 5877 in Aiken.
Mr. Allin was born in Malden, W.Va. and had lived in Aiken since the early 1950s. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, he had a long career as a residential and commercial painter. He was an avid golfer and never backed down from a challenge on the pool table. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Allin; a son, Greg Allin, Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Michelle Smith, Trenton, Constance Sparks, Aiken, and Diane Allin, Macon, Ga.; two sisters, Charlene Collins (the late Jerry Collins), North Augusta, and Diane Purvis (Andy Purvis), Wrens, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Charles William Allin and Golda Eichinger Allin; and a son, Kevin Allin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by S.C. Cremation & Burial Society, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care, Graniteville.

George Bright
Mr. George Bright, of Jacob McKie Road in Trenton, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Mr. Bright, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Old Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Bright; children, Velma Harvey, North Augusta, Tammy Bright, Trenton, Angela Bright, Odenton, Md., Terri Bright, Oxon Hill, Md., and Stephanie Quiller, North Augusta; brothers, Frank Baskett, North Augusta, Jacob CB’ Butler, Augusta, Ga., Wallace Bright, Augusta, Tommy Bright, Aiken, Ernest Bobby Quiller (Arnita), North Augusta, Joe Quiller, El Paso, Texas, and W. Flip Quiller (Willie), Aiken; sisters, Hester Stone, El Paso, Texas, and Mattie Schoultz, North Augusta; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Bright.
G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, North Augusta, is in charge of arrangements.

Stanley P. Browne Jr.
Mr. Stanley P. Browne Jr., 73, husband of the late Jean McKie Browne, of Hendersonville, Tenn., died recently in Hendersonville.
His funeral service was held Thursday, June 2, 2011 held at 10 a.m. in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Paul Noe officiating. Burial was in Sweetwater Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Browne retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service having attained the rank of master chief. Following his Navy career, he served as an insurance carrier loss control representative for 17 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed visiting with family, fishing, gun collecting and military history.
Survivors include two sons, Todd Browne (Karen) and Kevin Browne; a daughter, Dawn Hinson (Tony); a sister, Martha Browne Travis (Van); and four grandchildren, Christopher Browne, Mason Hinson, Shaw Hinson and Myra Hinson.
Rowland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Vonnie Searles Cook
Ms. Vonnie Searles Cook, 71, of Murrah Road Extension in North Augusta, died Monday, May 30, 2011.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at Republican Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willie Patten officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ms. Cook, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Republican Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Willie (Louise) Cook; three daughters, Willie Mae (Ernest) Simmons, Carrie Lee and Sarah Cook; stepdaughters, Annie L. (Johnnie) Rouse and Annie Ruth Williams; a brother, James A. Surry; 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
