Elizabeth “Betty” Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" Jones, 78, of Murrah Road in North Augusta, who died Monday, July 5, 2010, were conducted Thursday, July 7, at 10 a.m. at Sweetwater Baptist Church. Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley and Dr. Paul W. Noe officiated. Burial was in Sweetwater cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was a lifelong resident of North Augusta. She was a member of Big Stevens Creek Baptist Church, a former member of Sweetwater Baptist Church for a number of years, where she sang in the Sanctuary Choir and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid University of South Carolina Gamecock fan. Mrs. Jones was the wife of the late Mr. Percy "Bo" Jones.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Debbie Jones, Tim and Becky Jones, all of North Augusta, and Brad Jones, Trenton; a daughter, Gail Jones, Belvedere; eight grandchildren, Robby Jones, Kristie Jones Hulsebus, Beth Ann Jones, Josh Jones, J. W. Jones, Keith Horton, Kim Cooper, Brenda Arrington; six great- grandchildren, Corey Poston, Austin Poston, Taylor Cooper, Greyson Cooper, Hayden Horton and Alora Horton.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association Augusta Chapter, 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.
Posey Funeral Directors of North Augusta was in charge of arrangements

Solomon Jones
Mr. Solomon Jones, 87, of Gilgal Road in Edgefield, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 9, at 1 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Craig Myers officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jones, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Jones and Solomon Leon (TyKeshia) Jones; four daughters, Minnie (Charlie) Martin, Ruby Jones, Nancy Jones and Loretta (Jefferson) Taylor; a sister, Carrie Lou Jones; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beatrice (Robert) Martin, Josie Gilchrist and Jennie Williams; and a host of other relatives.
G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, Edgefield, was in charge of arrangements.

Robbie Kendrick Newby
Ms. Robbie Kendrick Newby, 78, of Thomson, died Thursday, July 8, 2010 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 11, at 2 p.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home. A private burial will be held in Westview cemetery in Augusta, Ga.
Ms. Newby was born in Augusta and was a member of Curtis Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her son, Al (Shirley) Newby, Edgefield; two granddaughters, Heather (Cory) Hauck and Allison Newby; and two great-grandchildren, Miles and Elise Hauck.

Emmit William Price
Mr. Emmit William Price, 74, of Prince Circle in Edgefield, died Monday, July 5, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in Belle, Mo.
Mr. Price was born in Belle, Mo., and attended McKendree United Methodist Church. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and was a farmer.
Survivors include two brothers, Philip J. Price, Springville, Tenn., Terry L. Price, Burlington, Iowa; two sisters, Naomi Allen, Florissant, Mo., and Pansy Laycook, Gerald, Mo.
Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Larry Sanders Jr.
Mr. Larry Sanders, Jr., 28, of Eagle Road in North Augusta, died Saturday, July 10, 2010. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Survivors include two daughters, Mona Sanders, Aiken, and Lakendra Sanders, North Augusta; his mother, Carolyn Brame Bates, Hephzibah, Ga.; his father, Larry (Sherice) Sanders, Sr., Augusta, Ga.; his stepfather, Wayne Bates, North Augusta; a brother, Dejuan Sanders, North Augusta; a stepbrother, Joshua Livington; a stepsister, Courtney Livington, Augusta Ga.; his grandparents, Bettie Brame, Calvin and Leslie Chapman, Hephzibah, Ga., a devoted friend, Cali Whitaker, North Augusta; a niece, Aleah Sanders, North Augusta; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call at the residence of his mother, 104 Westgate Court in Hephzibah.

William C. “Billy” Sanders
Funeral services for Mr. William C. “Billy” Sanders, 84, of Ridge Spring, were held Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church in Columbia. Officiating was the Rev. Willis Eiven. Burial was in Mount Calvary Lutheran Church cemetery in Johnston.
Mr. Sanders was born June 8, 1926 in Ridge Spring and died Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Lexington. He was the son of the late Robert W. Sanders Sr. and Myrtle Baker Sanders. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1944 and served in the Army during World War II. He returned to South Carolina and attended the University of South Carolina to receive a B.S. degree in business administration. He started his career in accounting with Liberty Life and advanced to work for the S.C. Tax Commission as an auditor. He relocated to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to work for Collins Radio. Upon his return to the Columbia area, he was employed by Bonitz and General Electric. While working for General Electric, he attended the University of South Carolina and received an MBA in business administration. Upon receiving his MBS in 1964, he did further studies at the University of Florida, Gainesville. He returned to South Carolina in 1966 to teach accounting at the University of South Carolina in Aiken. He retired June 30, 1987 as a professor in the School of Business, USC-Aiken, where he was an adjunct professor from August 1987-December 1995 and was awarded the title of Distinguished Professor Emeritus in May, 1992. He was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church and Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert W. Sanders Jr., his sister, Edythe Sanders and his sister and brother-in-law, Mertie S. Lee (Joel).
Surviving are his nephews, Daniel R. Lee, Robert W. Sanders III, David F. Lee (Wendy), and nieces, Martha J. Wilson (Archie), Bobbie S. Woodall (Calvin), Mary S. Sanda (David); and his sister-in-law, Helen Sanders. Also, three other generations of nephews and nieces, and many loved ones.
Memorials may be made to Reformation Lutheran Church, 1118 Union St., Columbia, SC 29201 or Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1186 Mount Calvary Road, Johnston, SC 29832.

William G. “Bill” Yonce
Funeral services for Mr. William G. "Bill" Yonce, 87, of Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, who died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, were conducted Friday, July 9, at 4 p.m. at Posey Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Earl H. Carter officiating. Burial was in Graniteville cemetery with Veterans honors.
Mr. Yonce was a lifelong resident of Aiken County and the last surviving child of the late Levi and Melissa Day Yonce. He retired from civil service at Fort Gordon as an estimator programmer with 31 years of service and did finishing work with several area contractors He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Fricks.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Martha S. Yonce; a son, Larry W. Yonce; a daughter, Theresa "Vickie" Fricks, both of North Augusta; two stepsons, Hagan (Myra) Stroud, Townville, Eddie (Kathy) Stroud, Prosperity; four stepdaughters, Maderriel Milford, Covington, Ga., Deloris Garland and Nancy (Bobby) Johnston, all of Newberry, Lallie (Ted) Waites, Pomaria; four grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; 33 step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Dwayne M. Hilderbrand
Martinez, Ga.
Mechanic
Mr. Dwayne Michael Hilderbrand, 41, of Old Plantation Rd., died Monday July 12, 2010 in Martinez.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday July 14, 2010 at 4 P.M. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 P.M. Prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Hilderbrand was born in Augusta, Ga. And was of the Baptist Faith. He was a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for Bobcat of Augusta. He was the son of the late Horace T. Hildrebrand, Sr. and Nancy Prescott. Mr. Hilderbrand was an avid Fisherman and Clemson Fan.
Survivors include his mother, 1 Son- Brandon Hilderbrand, Trenton, SC; 2
Brothers - Thomas M. Hilderbrand, North Augusta, H. Tilden Hilderbrand, Jr., Wagner; 1 Sister- Sharon Ingram, Woodstock.

Annie Willie (Butler) Lee
Mrs. Annie Willie (Butler) Lee, 77, of Mims Street in Edgefield, died Sunday, July 11, 2010.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, at 1 p.m. at Science Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. James E. Thomas officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Lee, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Science Hill Baptist Church where she was a faithful member of the senior choir.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Edwards and Brenda (Johnnie) Washington; four sons, Allen (Mary) Lee, Andrew R. (Sallie) Lee, Carl Lee and Thomas (Tammy) Lee; a sister, Bessie Tucker; five brothers, Alex (Lola) Butler, Chester Butler, Jessie Butler, Sylvester (Effie) Butler and Eddie (Rosa) Butler; 19 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A daughter, Diane Simpkins, preceded her in death.

William Oswald Mayson
Funeral services for Mr. William Oswald Mayson, 42, of Garrett Road in Edgefield, who died Monday, July 12, 2010, were conducted Thursday, July 15, at 2 p.m. at Posey Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sotello Long officiated. Burial was in Sunset Hill cemetery. Mr. Mayson was a life-long resident of the North Augusta area, a member of First Christian Church of Belvedere and was employed with South Carolina Electric and Gas Company. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and scuba diving.
Survivors include two daughters, Kendall Mayson and Skylar Mayson, both of Tennessee; his parents, Ronnel and Deloris Mayson, Belvedere; two brothers, Michael Mayson, North Augusta, and Brian Mayson, Beach Island; a sister, Shirley Gregory, Belvedere; a grandmother, Irene Allen, North Augusta.

Larry Sanders Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Larry Sanders Jr., 28, of Eagle Road in North Augusta, who died July 10, 2010, were held Saturday, July 17, at 1 p.m. at Transformation United Methodist Church, Tobacco Road, Hephzibah, Ga., with the Rev. James Anyike officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Sanders, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., was a member of Oakdale Covenant Church of Chicago. He was a student at Aiken Technical College.
Survivors include two daughters, Mone' Sanders and Lakendra Sanders; his mother, Carolyn Sanders-Bates; stepfather, Wayne Bates; his father, Larry Sanders; stepmother, Sherice Sanders; a brother, DeJuan Sanders; stepbrother, Joshua Livingston; stepsister, Courtney Livingston; grandmother, Bettie Brame; step-grandparents, Calvin and Leslie Chapman; a niece, Aleah Sanders; a devoted friend, Cali Whitaker; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ruth Wilson Smith
Mrs. Ruth Wilson Smith, 92, of Johnston, wife of the late James E. Smith, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab.
Graveside services were held Monday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Saluda and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki (Carroll) Clark, Trenton, Toni Jean (Tommy) Dorn, Johnston; three grandchildren, Chan Rearden, Chris Dorn and Adam Dorn; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Eddy Smith.
Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, P.O. Box 578 Johnston, SC 29832.

Felton Billy Wynn
Mr. Felton Billy Wynn, 80, of North Augusta, died Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab.
A Memorial Service was held Monday, July 19, at 7 p.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
Mr. Wynn was born in Sylacauga, Ala. He was of the Nazerene faith. He was retired from the Corp of Engineers.
Survivors include three daughters, Freda Wynn, Aiken, Karen Graham, North Augusta, and Rhonda Perez, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; two sons, Steven Wynn, North Augusta, and Felton H. Wynn, Bourne, Mass.; a brother, Isaac Eugene Wynn, Titusville, Fla.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, P.O. Box 5018 Hagerstown, Md. 21741-5018.
