Dupre H. Fulbright
Mr. Dupre H. Fulbright, 80, of Hillcrest Street in Johnston, husband of Betty Ruth Smith Fulbright, died July 2, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 5, at 2 p.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Fulbright was a native of Spartanburg and was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. He was a retired truck driver for Gulf Oil Company.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. He had two special friends and caregivers, Frances and Darrell Hines.

Sara Timmerman Marbert
Mrs. Sara Timmerman Marbert, 92, of Edgefield, wife of the late Nicholson James Marbert, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at Edgefield First Baptist Church, with burial in Eastview cemetery.
Mrs. Marbert was born in Edgefield County and was a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church and the Philathea Sunday School Class. She was the daughter of the late Watson and Betty Ouzts Timmerman. She was very interested in genealogy. She co-authored a book on the Marbert heritage and also researched information for the Timmerman-Ouzts lineage. She was a charter member of the Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society; United Daughters of the Confederacy, Edgefield Chapter 1018; and she was a member of several garden clubs during her lifetime.
Survivors include three children, Joan (Bobby) Hammond, Edgefield, W. Tim (Virginia) Marbert, Summerville, Nick J. (Sandy) Marbert, Tryon, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Bobby Lee Hammond III, Sarah Hammond Borders, William “Bill” Hammond, Melanie Marbert May, David T. Marbert, Stacy Baughman, Debra Camp; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Natalee Swearingen Rice
Mrs. Natalee Swearingen Rice, 80, of Hwy. 25 North in Edgefield, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Medical College of Georgia.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Rice was a native of Edgefield County and was a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church. She retired from Crest Manufacturing Company. She was the daughter of the late Walter Hugh and Bessie B. Seigler.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew Rice, Orangeburg; a daughter, Margaret S. Rhoden, Johnston; a son, Hugh (Debbie) Swearingen, Edgefield; two sisters, Clare Gilchrist, McCormick, Virginia Carroll, John’s Island; two brothers, Andrew Seigler, Lincolnton, Ga., Perry Seigler, Edgefield; five grandchildren, Kevin, Chad, Hugh, Kim and Scotty; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, George W. Swearingen.

Mr. Marvin Christie, 61, of Trenton, died Thursday, July 1, 2010.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Christie was born in Saluda and was the son of the late Nora and Sallie Mae Mobley Christie.
He is survived by four sons; six brothers; two sisters; and 12 grandchildren.

Miss Shannon Renee Mills, 32, of Augusta, Ga., died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield, with Pastor Jackie Robinson officiating.
Miss Mills was born in Augusta, Ga., and was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of Pizza Hut.

Carolyn Hudson Miller, 76, of 1006 Water Tower Road, died Sunday, September 26, 2010, at her residence. born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Paul Runion and Clanis Freeman Hudson, she was the wife of James Bunyan “JB” Miller. Mrs. Miller was a retired secretary. She was a member of Richland Springs Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday school class. Surviving are her husband, James Bunyan “JB” Miller of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, James Thurmond and Cathie Miller of Ward, and William Paul “Bill” and Stephanie Miller of Irmo, three sisters, Annie Lou Lamar of North Augusta, Doris Burdette of Greenville, and Catherine Hudson of Greenville, grandchildren, Monica and Brian Johnson, James “Buddy” and Brandi Miller, Caleb Miller Joseph Miller, Kristina Sullivan and Connor Miller, great-grandchildren, Jackson Miller, Briley Miller and Ryland Johnson. Mrs. Izenia Cook died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at University Hospital. Mrs. Cook was a retired educator, she taught in the Aiken and Edgefield County School Systems and Paine College. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Mr. Thomas C. Cook and her sons-in-law, Mr. Elliott E. Franks, III, Columbia, SC and Dr. Paul D. Weston, Clearwater, SC. Malcom Joseph Mulholland, infant son of Eddie and Ann Teresa Mulholland entered into rest on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Cherian Thalakulam celebrant. Burial was at Pineview Memorial Park. Mrs. Christine Holmes Wates, 78, of Thurmond St., wife of the late Raymond L. Wates, died Monday October 4, 2010 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday October 7, 2010 at 3 P.M. at Red Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Wates was born in Edgefield County and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a retired secretary for Western Auto. She was a member of the Saluda Chapter # 8 And former member of Edgefield Chapter # 236 of the Eastern Star. The Saluda and Edgefield Chapter consolidated and she was a Worthy Matron numerous times and held many other stations in the Eastern Star.
Survivors include 1 Son- Wayne Wates, Edgefield, 3 Grandchildren- Shane (Alison) Wates, North Augusta, Jonathan “Bubba” (Stephanie) Wates, Clarks Hill, Colton Wates, Edgefield. 4 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Sisters- Emma Booth, Graniteville, Ethel Bussey, Martinez, Ga., Sarah Wates, and Carolyn Doolittle, Both of Edgefield; 1 Brother- Floyd Holmes, Edgefield.

Henry Milton Bussey
Henry Milton Bussey, 69, of Modoc, died at his home on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010.
Services were held Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at Modoc Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Robert Patton and Reuel Westbrook, with Masonic graveside rights.
He was the son of the late Caroll and Lillian Reese Bussey. He was born in McCormick and was a lifelong resident. He was a member of Modoc Baptist Church, a life member of Parksville Masonic Lodge 199 and a graduate of McCormick High School in 1958. He retired from Prater Construction Company.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Pam) Coffer Bussey; a son, Milton Bussey of Clearwater; two stepdaughters, Janice Reed of Dearing, Ga. and Anita Poarch of Modoc; a stepson, Garreth Poarch of Modoc; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Claude and Talmadge (Tag) Bussey of Modoc, Raford Bussey of Clarks Hill, and the late Morgan Bussey.

Mr. Harold Douglas Gordon, 66, of Gordontown Road in Edgefield, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Lane Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
born in Edgefield, he was a son of the late Willie (Dink) and Lillie Phillips Gordon. He was a member of Pleasant Lane Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and a member of the Pleasant Lane All Male Chorus. He was a graduate of W.E. Parker High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Bennie Mae Gordon; two sons, Ramon (ShaLawn) Gordon, Greenwood, and Harold M. Gordon, Edgefield; two daughters, Tamico (James) G. Mobley, Saluda, and Catina M. Gordon, Johnston; two brothers, Franklin (Martha) Gordon and Ronnie Gordon, both of Edgefield; four sisters, Marie G. Adams, Edgefield, Catherine Shivers and Ethel Long, both of Jersey City, N.J., and Katerina Brown, District Heights, Md,; 11 grandchildren; and other relatives.

Mrs. Dolly Mae Herlong Lindler, 85, of Mt. Willing Road in Saluda, wife of LaFonde Lindler, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at Saluda Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m. at Sardis Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
born March 10, 1925 in the Emory Community of Saluda County, she was the daughter of the late John Forrest and Bertha Hipp Herlong. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Herlong Riddle and Janice of Saluda; a granddaughter, Brittani Riddle of Clemson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Eudora Herlong Forrest of Johnston and Peggy Dehart and Ted of North Augusta; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John Vastine Herlong and Helen of Miami, Fla., and Lowell Herlong and Bobbie of Saluda. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Otha “Rock” Riddle, and a sister, Frances Herlong Wright.
