Mrs. Rosa Bell Griffin Nicholson, 88, of Edgefield, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 23, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Johnston, with burial in the church cemetery.
born in Edgefield County, she was the daughter of the late Brooker and Christine Pixley Griffin. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Minnie Bell Pride, Johnston; a sister, Hazel Griffin Andrews, Johnston; four grandchildren, Evelyn Pride, Patrick (Beverly) Pride, James Pride and Paul (Everetta) Pride; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Mrs. Donna Seigler Lewis Mullins, 47, of Beech Island, wife of Tom Dawson Mullins, died October 5, 2010 at Trinity Hospital.
Graveside Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday October 8, 2010 at Plum Branch cemetery with Rev. Daryl Engle officiating. Mrs. Mullins was born in McCormick, S.C. and was a member of Heights Baptist Church. She was the Manager of Auto Express used cars in Beech Island and she was a Homemaker.

Mr. Edward A. Emanuel died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Monetta Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roosevelt Franklin, pastor, officiating, and the Rev. Dr. Jasper Lloyd as eulogist. Burial was in Monetta Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. G. Glenn Harling Sr., 84, of Johnston, husband of Millie Watson Harling, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 16, at 4 p.m. at Johnston First Baptist Church, with burial in McKendree United Methodist Church cemetery in Edgefield.
Mr. Harling was born in Edgefield County and was a member of Johnston First Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a Mason. He was a retired public accountant and was retired Probate Judge of Edgefield County.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Kenneth W. Harling, Sylva, N.C., G. Glenn (Bud) Harling Jr., Bakersville, N.C., Bruce M. Harling, Ward; three daughters, Glenda H. Reynolds, Edgefield, Cheryl Harling Stewart, Edgefield, Deborah (Debbo) Harling Lackore, Columbia; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harling was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Hill Harling, and a son, Michael Rembert Harling.

Oleta Bryson Maxwell
Funeral services for Mrs. Oleta Bryson Maxwell, 94, of Johnston, were held Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Johnston First Baptist Church, with burial in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Maxwell, a resident of Wesley Commons in Greenwood since 2008, died Saturday, Sept. 18. born on Nov. 16, 1915 in Unaka, Cherokee County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late William Dock and Ida Lucinda Bryson. Mrs. Maxwell was a longtime resident of Johnston, having moved there with her family in 1947. She was a member of Johnston First Baptist Church, the Gleaners Sunday School Class, was a Lioness and had been a member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by two sons, Harold Maxwell and wife Mickey of Williamsburg, Va., and Paul Maxwell and wife Ronda of Marietta, Ga.; her sister, Virginia Ruth Wilson and husband Ralph of Elon College, N.C.; six grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Zelma Driver and Thelma Kitchens, and her husband, Erskine Floyd Maxwell who died July 14, 2009.

Bertha Mims Simpkins
Mrs. Bertha Mims Simpkins, 94, of Edgefield Road in North Augusta, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010 at Atlanta Hospice.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 19, at 1:30 p.m. at Poplar Spring Baptist Church, with the Rev. Edward Lloyd, as eulogist, and the Rev. Donnell Merriwether, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Simpkins, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church where she served on the Women’s Mission and sang in the choir.
Survivors include two sons, Richard (Judy) Mims and Raymond (Annie) Mims, Augusta, Ga.; a daughter, Mary Julia (Lester) Broadwater, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Mary (James) McGee, Detroit, Mich.; brothers-in-law, Izeal Garrett, Graniteville, and Al Santucci, Warwick, Bermuda; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Georgia Mae Holmes Broadwater, 75, of Glover Street in Edgefield, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2010.

Mrs. Broadwater, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the senior choir.

Mr. Robert L. McFerrin, of Trenton, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Fred E. Scarborough, 63, of W.A. Reel Drive in Edgefield, died Tuesday Sept. 7, 2010 at the Hospice House in Greenwood.

Mr. Scarborough was born in Wadley Ga., and was a retired business owner.

He was predeceased by a brother, Smitty Scarborough.

Mr. Williams, a native of Aiken County, was a member of Moores AME Church.
