Mr. William A. (Billy) Seigler, Jr., 70, of Edgefield, died Friday July 1, 2011 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday July 3, 2011 at 3 P.M. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Edgefield.
Mr. Seigler was a native of Edgefield County and was the son of William A. and Lillian Hammond Seigler.
Survivors include 2 Brothers - Bobby Seigler, Marshall (Beth) Seigler, and nieces and nephews.
The family is at the home of Marshall Seigler on Cedar Creek Rd. and will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. before the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Robert H. Desautel
Mr. Robert Henry Desautel, 73, of Stonehenge Circle, husband of Catherine Barrett Desautel, died Wednesday June 29, 2011 at his residence.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday July 2, 2011 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Desautel was a native of Pawtucket, RI and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a retired Chief Master Sergeant for the United States Air force. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and other various Air Medals in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, 2 Daughters- Tracey Lee (Timothy) McGrath, Linda Jean (Steve) Bilodeau; 1 son- Thomas Robert Desautel; 1 Sister- Marilyn (James) LaFratta; and 8 Grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 302 Jeter St. Edgefield, S.C. 29824.
The family is at the home.

Mr. Wade H. Morgan
Mr. Wade Hampton Morgan, 79, of Key Rd., husband of Joan Wood Morgan, died Monday July 4, 2011 at University Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Thursday July 7, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Red Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
He was a native of Richmond County and was retired from the Augusta Police Dept. with 33 years service. He was an Army Veteran and a member of Red Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; 3 daughters- Susan (Timothy) Mosley, Cyndi (Michael) Noikov, Becky (Troy) Quarles; 6 Grandchildren- Devon, Katie, Megan, Morgan, Preston, and Lindsey; 2 Great- Grandchildren- Rheuy and Holly; and 2 Nieces.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

Charles Hayward Allin
Mr. Charles Hayward Allin, 68, of Aiken, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Charles Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Ga.
A celebration of life ceremony was held on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the VFW Post 5877 in Aiken.
Mr. Allin was born in Malden, W.Va. and had lived in Aiken since the early 1950s. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, he had a long career as a residential and commercial painter. He was an avid golfer and never backed down from a challenge on the pool table. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Allin; a son, Greg Allin, Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Michelle Smith, Trenton, Constance Sparks, Aiken, and Diane Allin, Macon, Ga.; two sisters, Charlene Collins (the late Jerry Collins), North Augusta, and Diane Purvis (Andy Purvis), Wrens, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Charles William Allin and Golda Eichinger Allin; and a son, Kevin Allin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are by S.C. Cremation & Burial Society, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care, Graniteville.
George Bright
Mr. George Bright, of Jacob McKie Road in Trenton, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Mr. Bright, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Old Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Bright; children, Velma Harvey, North Augusta, Tammy Bright, Trenton, Angela Bright, Odenton, Md., Terri Bright, Oxon Hill, Md., and Stephanie Quiller, North Augusta; brothers, Frank Baskett, North Augusta, Jacob CB’ Butler, Augusta, Ga., Wallace Bright, Augusta, Tommy Bright, Aiken, Ernest Bobby Quiller (Arnita), North Augusta, Joe Quiller, El Paso, Texas, and W. Flip Quiller (Willie), Aiken; sisters, Hester Stone, El Paso, Texas, and Mattie Schoultz, North Augusta; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Bright.

Stanley P. Browne Jr.
Mr. Stanley P. Browne Jr., 73, husband of the late Jean McKie Browne, of Hendersonville, Tenn., died recently in Hendersonville.
His funeral service was held Thursday, June 2, 2011 held at 10 a.m. in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Paul Noe officiating. Burial was in Sweetwater Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Browne retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service having attained the rank of master chief. Following his Navy career, he served as an insurance carrier loss control representative for 17 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed visiting with family, fishing, gun collecting and military history.
Survivors include two sons, Todd Browne (Karen) and Kevin Browne; a daughter, Dawn Hinson (Tony); a sister, Martha Browne Travis (Van); and four grandchildren, Christopher Browne, Mason Hinson, Shaw Hinson and Myra Hinson.
Rowland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Vonnie Searles Cook
Ms. Vonnie Searles Cook, 71, of Murrah Road Extension in North Augusta, died Monday, May 30, 2011.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at Republican Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willie Patten officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ms. Cook, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Republican Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Willie (Louise) Cook; three daughters, Willie Mae (Ernest) Simmons, Carrie Lee and Sarah Cook; stepdaughters, Annie L. (Johnnie) Rouse and Annie Ruth Williams; a brother, James A. Surry; 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

Georgia Houston Griffin
Mrs. Georgia Houston Griffin, of Lakeview Road in North Augusta, died Monday, May 30, 2011.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Old Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Louis T. Cofey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Griffin, a native of Edgefield County, was a member of Old Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Pamela G. Miles, Susie Goodwin and Lulu (John) Simpson; five sons, Jerry (Doris) Griffin, Arthur Griffin, Horace (Denise) Griffin, Sam (Olivia) Griffin Jr., and Charles L. Houston; two sisters, Annie (Lawrence) Cormier and Alberta O'Connor; three brothers, Henry (Bertha) Houston, Joseph (Mary) Houston and Robert (Alithia) Houston; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Dan Matheny Herlong
Mr. Dan Matheny Herlong, 90, husband of Dorothy Oates Herlong, died June 1, 2011.
Services were held Saturday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at Harmony United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors followed in the Harmony cemetery.
born in the Harmony Community of Edgefield County, he was a son of the late Lewis Mike and Loline Matheny Herlong. Dan was the last surviving member of his family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis Mike Jr., Marvin (Buck), David (Skeebo) and Padgett; and sisters, Virginia (Mrs. W.G. Smith) and Lavinia. He attended Johnston High School where he played football and baseball. He enlisted in World War II Air Force V, proudly serving his country in the Pacific area of Australia, New Zealand and Guam. Dan was a life member of Harmony United Methodist Church where he was an integral part of many church functions; he served on the Administrative Board, was superintendent of the Sunday School and sang in the choir. He also participated in the Salkahatchie program. He was lovingly known as ‘The Bubble Gum Man’ at church, as he never missed a Sunday of passing out bubble gum to the children of Harmony Church. In 1946, Dan married
Dorothy Oates of Chester and settled in the Harmony Community. Throughout his career he farmed, taught auto mechanics at Strom Thurmond High School and worked at Riegel Textile Corporation until his retirement. He was active in the Johnston American Legion, the Edgefield County Farm Bureau, the Future Farmers of America, the Young Farmers and the Harmony Grange.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by a son, Dan Michael Herlong of Johnston; three grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth (Molly) Herlong of Summerville, Ga., Frederick (Erick) Cavanaugh Herlong (Mayme) of Greenville, William Franklin (Trey) Howard, III of Aiken and their mother, Mary Anne Cavanaugh of Aiken; three great-grandchildren, Virginia Grace Herlong, Kate Cavanaugh Herlong and Guy Stoll Benjamin of Greenville; and niece, Genna Covar of Edgefield.

Jimmie Mack
Mr. Jimmie Mack, 66, of Amelia Drive in North Augusta, husband of Ann C. Mack, died Monday, May 30, 2011 at his residence.
The Mass of Christian Burial and Prayer Vigil were celebrated Friday, June 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, with Father Cherian Thalakulam as celebrant. Burial was in Pineview Memorial Park.
Additional survivors include one son, John Mack; one daughter, Winnie Rita Carroll; and six grandchildren.
Rowland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Fred L. Mathis
Mr. Fred L. Mathis, 82, husband for 59 years to Mary Jo Mathis, of North Augusta, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at his residence.
His funeral service was held Monday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at Sweetwater Baptist Church, with Dr. Paul Noe officiating. Burial followed in Sweetwater Baptist Church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tucker Mathis, Jacob Mathis, Joel Mathis, Daniel Webber, Phillips Johnson, Jeff Lacey and Gary McNeal.
Mr. Mathis lived in North Augusta and was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta. He taught Timothy Sunday School Class for 22 years, was the first president of North Augusta Board of Realtors, and founder and partner of Mathis Realty. He was an avid hunter and a horseback rider.
Additional survivors include three sons, Andrew Tucker Mathis and his wife Kelly, Joseph Duncan Mathis, and Clinton Darrow Mathis and his wife Lynn, all of North Augusta; three daughters, Mary Ellen Mathis Webber and her husband Mike of Anderson, Elizabeth Jane Mathis Brown and her husband Jerry of Windham, N.H., and Shirley Karen Mathis Thompson and her husband Alan of Edgefield; two sisters, Norma Mathis Pate of West Point, Va., and Willie Jo Mathis Pinner of Black Mountain, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Tucker Mathis and Minnie Lanham Mathis; and one brother, Daniel Tucker Mathis Jr.
Memorials may be made to Sweetwater Baptist Church Building Fund or Mission Fund, 198 Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, SC 29860.
Wanda Campbell Proctor
Mrs. Wanda Campbell Proctor, 54, of Southern View Drive in Graniteville, wife of Ervin Proctor, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at her residence.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church in Belvedere.
Mrs. Proctor was born in Anniston, Ala. and was a homemaker. She attended Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church. She was the daughter of the late Darrell and Margaret Meadows Campbell.
In addition to her husband, survivors included a daughter, Kimberly C. Whittle, Belvedere; three grandchildren, Ashton Jacob Allison, Isabella Nicole O’Neal, Alexandria Paige Campbell; two brothers, Michael Campbell, Canton, Ga., Glenn Campbell, Aiken; a sister, Gayle Hankison, Aiken.
Mrs. Proctor was predeceased by a brother, Danny Campbell.
Memorials may be made to Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church, 836 Edgefield Rd., North Augusta, SC 29841.
The family will receive friends at the home.
