LYNCHBURG -- Cecil L. Josey, 56, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. born in Darlington County, he was a son of the late C.W. Josey Jr. and the late Norman Gertude Guerry Josey.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church at St. Charles and a member of the Horseless Carriage Club America. He was self-employed in the Antique and Classic Car Restoration business.
Survivors include his former wife, Betsy Josey; two sons, Rainey Josey and his wife, Shand of Florence, and Spencer W. Josey of the home; two daughters, Courtney Gamble and her husband Steven of Sardinia, and Elizabeth Ann Josey of the home; one brother, Stanley D. Josey of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Cale Gamble, Ann Collins Josey, and Wilson Josey and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church with Dr. Gordon Reed and the Rev. Bob Chastain officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Goza, Bobby Muldrow, Jeff Jones, John Outlaw, Roy Atkinson and Wayne Green. Honorary Pallbearers will be Archie Chandler and Alford Welch.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Sardinia Presbyterian Building Fund or Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.

Melvin Johnson
FLORENCE -- Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services for Mr. Melvin Johnson 2 p.m. Friday at Savannah Grove Baptist Church. He died on Aug. 21, 2001 in a local hospital.
born in Florence County, he was the son of the late Cleveland Johnson Sr. and Louise Johnson.
He attended the public schools of Florence County and was a member of Savannah Grove Baptist Church.
He was employed with Randy's Imports as a mechanic.
Survivors are his wife, Deloris Titus Johnson; children, Melvin Johnson Jr. and Dana B. Johnson; stepchildren, Robin Eddison, Rodney Titus; brothers, Cleveland Johnson Jr. and Marion (Jackie) Johnson; sisters, Eula Mae Muldrow, Mary L. (Jake) Timmons, Annie M. (Phillip) Roberts; godson, Marion Johnson Jr. The family will be receiving friends at 3509 Amp Drive, Effingham.

Mae Belle D. Floyd
COWARD - Mrs. Mae Belle DuBose Floyd, 87, widow of Winright Floyd died Sunday, July 1, 2001 in a Florence hospital after an illness.
Mrs. Floyd was born in Clarendon County, a daughter of the late John Middleton and Aleda Bernice Camelia Coker DuBose. She was a homemaker and member of the Bible Temple.
Survivors include three daughters, Mazine F. Lee of Coward, Iva Lee Parker of Charleston and Shirley F. (Clevie) Parker of Greenville, Tenn.; five sons, Julius L. "Mutt" (Wilma) Floyd of Florence, Boyd J. (Lela Mae) Floyd and David (Louise) Floyd, both of Coward, Murrell (Judy) Floyd of Scranton and John Wright (Kathy) Floyd of Lake City; two step daughters, Opal McCutcheon of Florence and Basil "Peggy" Aiken of Lake Mary, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ann McKnight and a stepson, Garland Floyd.
Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2001 in the Bible Temple with burial in the church cemetery.

Claude Melton Coskrey
FLORENCE -- Services for Claude Melton Coskrey, 82, will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2001, in Waters-Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Coskrey, widower of Hattie Ruth Gandy Coskrey, died Saturday, July 21, at his home after an illness. born in Summerton, he was the son of the late Walter W. Coskrey and Maude Hilton Coskrey. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Roy Graham Bible Class.
After attending school in Summerton, he moved to Florence and worked at the ACL Railroad. He served for five years in the U.S. Army during World War II, four years overseas in Africa, Italy, France, Germany and Sicily. He retired from the railroad as an inspector in 1980 with 42 years of service.
Surviving are three sons, Claude Melton Coskrey Jr. of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., Richard Dale (Donna) Coskrey and Michael Ray Coskrey, all of Florence; a daughter, Carla C. (Joe) Pappas of Irmo; four grandchildren, Claude Melton Coskrey III, Michelle (Brad) Owens, Blake Coskrey and Nicholas Pappas; a great-grandchild, Talon Owens; a brother, Carlyle W. Coskrey of Summerton; and two sisters, Thelma Furse of Sumter and Mary C. Bell of Hartsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence, S.C. 29506.
Vera Strickland McKenzie
KINGSTREE -- Mrs. Vera Strickland McKenzie, 82, widow of Willie Mack McKenzie, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001 in a Lake City hospital.
Mrs. McKenzie was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Parrott Strickland. She attended Indiantown schools and was a retired clothing inspector. Mrs. McKenzie attended the Kingstree Church of God of Prophecy. She was preceded in death by two sons, Willie Mack McKenzie and Sam McKenzie.
Surviving are a daughter, Martha Ann McKenzie of Kingstree; a son, Johnny McKenzie of Kingstree; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 in Williamsburg Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Sarah Sherrod Moye Harrell
SUMMERTON -- Sarah Sherrod Moye Harrell, 66, wife of George Manning Harrell, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, in Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia.
born Aug. 21, 1934, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Sebia Moye and the late Marian Huggins Moye. She was co-founder of the Shrimper Restaurants.
Surviving besides her husband of Summerton are two sons, George Harrell of Lexington and Joe Harrell of West Columbia; two daughters, Beth Austin of Columbia and Becky Pintak of Falls Church, Va.; nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

TIMMONSVILLE -- Funeral service for Mr. Jonathan "Johnnie Boy" Jones Sr. will be noon Friday, Aug. 24, 2001 in Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will be in Florence National cemetery directed by Bacote-Eaddy Funeral Home of Timmonsville.
Mr. Jones died Saturday Aug. 18.
He was born in Florence County a son of Mrs. Irie Jones and the late Jimmie Jones. He attended the public schools of Florence County. He served in U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. He was employed by Stone Container Corp. for 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, Eulillian Jones; his mother, Mrs. Iris Jones; seven children, Johnny Williams, Renee Johnson, Jonathan Jones Jr., Shawanda (Terry) McFadden, Levonda (Gerald) Wright, Vernis Jones and Jierra Jones; nine brothers and sisters, Johnny (Mary) James, Jimmie Jones Sr., Carrie Dickey, Irolene (Norman) Hassell, Lois McDowell, Moise Hall, Mary White, Angilue McNeil and Barbara Ann Henry; his father-in-law, Junior Smalls; and 18 grandchildren.
William Alvy Miles
SCRANTON -- Mr. William Alvy Miles, 60, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at his residence after an illness.
Mr. Miles was born in Florence County, a son of the late Manning and Lottie McCutcheon Miles. He was an electrician.
Survivors include three sons, Roger Dale Miles of Coward, Billy E. Gray of Cades and Jerry Broach of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Willaree Harrelson of Timmonsville; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today in Brockington Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Beulah Free Will Baptist Church.

Lillian Green
DARLINGTON -- Funeral service for Mrs. Lillian Green will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 at Round O Missionary Baptist Church in Darlington with the Rev. Michael McMillan, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery directed by Jordan Funeral Home of Darlington.
Mrs. Green, 95, died Sunday, Oct. 7. She was born in Darlington County, a daughter of the late David Poole and Connie Rubin Josey. Her husband, Jessie Green Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are being received at the residence of a niece, Mrs. Albertine Green, 1415 Mechanicsville Highway, Darlington.
Charles Edward Richardson
MARIETTA, Ga. -- Mr. Charles Edward Richardson, 66, of Marietta, Ga., died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001.
Mr. Richardson was employed with Dobbins Air Force Base, Department of Defense Security. He retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years as a Master Sergeant with the special Forces/Green Beret. He was also in the 82nd Airborne.
He is survived by wife, Lynn Richardson; daughters, Sharon R. Timmons of Aurora, Colo., and Wanda J. Richardson of Goose Creek; sons, Donald L. Richardson of Aurora, Colo., Stanley Brett Coker of Marietta, Ga., and Shannon L. Coker of Kingstree; sisters, Joan Bragg of Summerville, Betty Orvin of St. Stephens, Margaret Malphrus of Moncks Corner and Yvonne Jones of West Columbia; brothers, Harvey Richardson and Allen Richardson, both of Moncks Corner, Billy Richardson of Orlando, Fla., Jimmy Richardson of Kingstree and Danny Richardson of Blythewood; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Oct. 9, 2001 at the Davis-Struempf Funeral Home Chapel, Austell, Ga.

CAMDEN -- Funeral services for Travis William Anderson (affectionately known as "Uncle Rabbit") will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 in the Hermitage Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Lake Swamp Baptist Church cemetery, Timmonsville. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001 in the Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel.

Mr. Anderson, 83, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001. born in Summerton, he was the son of the late Joshua William and Lucille Sansbury Anderson. He was married
to the late Willierea Kea Anderson. He was retired from E.I. duPont de Nemours, Inc. and was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Lillian Anderson Mros of Walterboro; a son, Tim W. Anderson; three grandsons, Bryan Mros, Joshua Mros and Stephen Anderson; three sisters, Almetta Wilson and Emaline Carter both of Florence and Martha Ann Lane of Carrsville; loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph Anderson, Rutledge Odom and Henry W. Odom.
James Holman Sr.
SOCIETY HILL -- Funeral services for James Holman Sr. will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 in St. John Temple Holiness Church. Burial will be in Bethesda Baptist Church cemetery directed by Young & Young Funeral Home.
Mr. Holman, 58, died Friday, Oct. 5 at his residence after an illness.
He was born in Darlington County a son of the late Clarence and Naomi Conyers Holman. He received his education in Orangeburg County public schools and was a member of St. John Temple Holiness Church.
Mr. Holman was employed by Hanson Minerals Co. in Bennettsville for 25 years of service.
He was united in holy matrimony to the former Josephine Graham on May 7, 1962. This union was blessed with two daughters and two sons.
Surviving are two daughters, Jo Jean Holman Bishop of Society Hill and Jannie Mae Holman of Ansonia, Conn.; two sons, Robert Holman of Richmond, Va., and James (Hulio) Holman Jr. of Society Hill; four sisters, Ida Mae Washington and Willie Mae Jones, both of Orangeburg, Naomi Jones of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Annie Gardner of Society Hill; a brother, J.C. Holman of Orangeburg; nine grandchildren; aunts; uncle; and other close relatives and friends.
