James Council Elkins, 84, died Thursday, November 17, 2011, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with entombment in Evergreen cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to service.
born in Dillon County, May 11, 1927, he was the son of the late James Council Elkins and Govie Elizabeth Ivey Elkins. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, was a member of the Dillon Church of God where he was a former church council member, and was retired from Dixiana Mills. He was married
to the late Eva Wilkes Elkins for 63 years.
Survivors include his children, Diana (Jack) Barfield of Lake View and James Neil (Polly) Elkins of Dillon; sister, Bernice Elkins Cook of Dillon.
Mr. Elkins was preceded in death by his sisters, Lola Bell Elkins Turner of Dillon and Flora Kate Elkins Gray of Dillon.
Memorials may be made to the Dillon Church of God Music Fund, 701 Highway 301 South, Dillon, SC 29536.
James Leighton Mitchell, Jr.
Memorial services for James Leighton "Leigh" Mitchell, Jr. will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Latta Baptist Church with burial in Rest Haven cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Mitchell, 47, died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his residence.
born in Lumberton, NC, September 18, 1964, he was the son of the late James Leighton Mitchell, Sr. and Nancy Brock Mitchell Smith. He was a member of Latta Baptist Church, was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and was employed by McLeod Medical Center in Dillon.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Thompson Mitchell of Latta; son, Joshua Lee Mitchell of Latta; step-son, Jed Rowell of Latta; sisters, Norma Jackson of Bladenboro, NC, and Leslie Measamer of Greenville, NC; nieces and nephews.

Jackie Vernon Mishue
ORRUM, NC - Graveside services for Jackie Vernon Mishue will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Ivey Jenkins cemetery in Orrum directed by Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon, SC.
Mr. Mishue, 68, died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
born in Robeson County, NC, July 22, 1943, he was the son of the late J.B. Mishue and Virginia Ivey Mishue.
Survivors include his sisters, Jane (Marvin) Wilkins of Fayetteville, NC, and Nancy (Robert) Tanner of Dillon; brothers, Lennon (Patricia) Mishue of Houston, TX, and Larry (Janet) Mishue of Kittrell, NC.
Mr. Mishue was preceded in death by his brother, Benton F. Mishue.

CLIO - Dolores R. Best, 74, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at her residence.
born in Crandon, Wisconsin, June 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Hildred Murray and Virginia Gilbert Murray.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy L. Best of Clio; children, Jimmy Dean Best of Clio, Debbie Ann Faulkner of Columbia, Shelby Jean McQue of Spartanburg, and Sheila Lynn Best of Clio; 13 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Harris of Crab Orchid, KY; brother, Neil Murray of Colorado Springs, CO.
Courtney Denise Strickland
DILLON - Services for Courtney Denise Strickland will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Miss Strickland, 21, died Friday, November 18, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
born in Florence, SC, July 12, 1990, she was the daughter Jerry Wayne Hargrove, Jr. and Angela Denise Strickland. She resided in Macon, GA.
Survivors include her mother, Angela Strickland (RJ Hyatt) of Dillon; father, Jerry W. Hargrove, Jr.(Donna) of Latta; best friend, Trey Carter of Macon, GA; sister, Summer Hope Herring of Dillon; brother, Alex Mathews of Dillon; step-sister, Ashley Nolan of Latta; grandparents, Bonnie Anderson of Dillon, Ed Strickland of Alabama, and Jerry Hargrove, Sr. of Dillon; great-grandmother, Margaret Allen of Dillon;niece, Bry'anna McNair of Dillon; and many special family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Rachel Elizabeth Hargrove; and great-grandmother, Uthenela Strickland.
Charles Thomas Moore, Sr.
DILLON - Charles Thomas Moore, Sr., 61, died Monday, November 21, 2011, in MUSC in Charleston.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 Friday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Piney Grove Freewill Holiness Church cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
born in Dillon County, November 12, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert A. Moore and Ada Grice Moore. He was a member of Latta Church of God.
Survivors include his sons, Thomas Moore, Jr. fiance' (Kensey Hardee) of Mullins and Brandon Moore of Dillon; daughters, Tonya Blackmon and, Melissa Owens both of New Orleans, and Shannon Davis of Rowland, NC; sister, Sara McCutheon of Florence; brothers, Larry Moore, and Robert Moore both of Sellers, Ernest Grice of Mullins, Richard Moore of Coward, Thomas Moore of Florence; 10 grandchildren.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his brother, Junior Moore.
Cynthia Myrl Marinelli Allison
DILLON - Memorial services for Cynthia Myrl Marinelli Allison will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Dillon Church of God with interment in Elmwood cemetery in Fruita, Colorado directed by Cooper Funeral Home.
Miss Allison, 58, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
born in Montrose, Colorado, September 19, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Muriel Faye and Louie Marinelli and her biological father, Clinton Allison. She was a graduate of Issaquah High School in Issaquah, Washington, and she worked at the Dillon Christian Preschool, and she treasured laughter, anything the color purple, and Neil Diamond.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters, Allen (Mona) Marinelli of Sterling, Alaska, Leanna (Edward) Martin of Dillon, Carrie Taylor of Dillon, Susanna (Tom) Fuller of Maple Valley, Washington, and Tony (Sherry) Marinelli of Redding, California; 13 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; and friends all over the country.
Miss Allison was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Lou Ann Fuller.
The family would like to say a special thanks to McLeod Hospice, and their angel nurses, Heather Perritt and Raven Robinson.

born in Dillon, March 28, 1979, he was the son of Callie Jane Monahan Turner and the late Harry Black Turner.
Survivors include his daughter, Ashton Marie Turner of Dillon; son, Michael Wayne Turner, Jr. of Dillon; mother, Callie Turner of Dillon; grandmother, Ella Monahan of Latta; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

born in Hamer, SC, December 7, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles Thomas Mims and Katie Elizabeth Owens Mims. She was a member of the Dillon First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Florinette Renfrow Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Floyd N. Griffin of Hamer; daughter, Charlene (R.C.) Miller of Hamer; son, Mitchell Griffin of Hamer; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles "Slim" Mims, and Brown L. Mims.

Ms. Hunt, 64, died Sunday, November 27, 2011 in the Morrison Manor in Laurinburg, NC.
born in Maxton, NC, September 28, 1947, she was the daughter of Warnie McGirt Hunt and the late Albert Hunt. She was a member of Leland Grove Freewill Baptist Church, and was a Cosmotologist.
Survivors include her mother, Warnie Hunt of Bennettsville; daughters, Carolyn Byington of NC, and Ginny K.
