Winston Lee

TIMMONSVILLE -- Funeral service for Mr. Winston Lee will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 in Chaney Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by Bacote-Eaddy Funeral Home.

Mr. Lee died Wednesday, Feb. 20.

He was born in Lee County a son of the late Arthur and Minnie Jackson Lee. He attended the public schools of Lee County. He was a member of Chaney Grove Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board and as a member of the Senior Choir. He was a retired farmer. His hobby was repairing washing machines.

He was preceded in death by six siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mrs. Mary Ella Edwards Lee; two daughters, Ella Ruth (Curtis M.) McElveen and Ruby Boone; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

JaVon Demetric Dubose

TIMMONSVILLE -- Funeral service for Mr. JaVon Demetric Dubose will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 in Johnson Middle School. Burial will be in Sansbury cemetery directed by Bacote-Eaddy Funeral Home of Timmonsville.

JaVon, 18, died Saturday Feb. 16 after an accident.

He was born in Florence County a son of Minnie Dubose Hickmon and Jackie McGill. He attended the public schools of Timmonsville.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Minnie Dubose Hickmon and Ernest Hickmon; his father, Jackie McGill; a sister, Lashaunda Dubose; two brothers, Derelle Dubose and Derrick Goodman; a special aunt, Lois Green; his grandmother, Evangelist Christine McGill; many other relatives and friends.

Wattie Hampton Price Sr.

ROWLAND, N.C. -- Mr. Wattie Hampton Price Sr., 91, formerly of Hamer, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002 at Britthaven of Smithfield, N.C.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Rowland cemetery in Rowland.

Mr. Price was born Nov. 30, 1910 in Robeson County, N.C., son of the late John and Frances H. Price and the husband of the late Lula Bell Horne Price. He was a retired farmer.

Two sons, Wattie Hampton Price Jr. and Rudolph Kirby Price, and a daughter, Betty Jean Price Herring, also preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son, Troy Price of Hamer; a daughter, Brenda Britt of Smithfield; two brothers, Wheeler Price and Evans Price, both of Hamer; a sister, Sarah Grimes of Lumberton, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Boles Funeral Home of Rowland is serving the family.

Ida Mae Edwards

FLORENCE -- Funeral Services for Mrs. Ida Mae Edwards will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Rona Baptist Church. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Eastern Star rites will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2002 in the chapel of Ideal Funeral Parlor. She died on Feb 16, 2002 in her residence after an illness.

born in Florence, SC, she was the daughter of Henry Hennighan and Victoria Coward. She attended the public schools of Florence.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of Mt. Rona Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Pastors Aide, Missionary Society, Usher Board, Gospel Choir, Senior Choir, Deaconess and Bright Light Chapter 188 Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors are her children, Arthur (Margie) Edwards, Jr., Evangelist Vickanita (Willie) Johnson, Abner Lee (Italy Mae) Edwards, Henry B. Edwards, Otis R. (Arnetta) Edwards, David Isaiah (Vivian) Edwards; 26 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Florina Jones, Dorothy Paul, Catherine (Copal) Johnson, Alice Hennighan and Lillie Mae (Hamp) Young; two brothers, Deotis Caroline and Harris Hennighan, 5 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law

Family is receiving friends at 3339 Rushtown Road, Effingham, SC.

Jon Kerry Bullock

LAKE VIEW -- Mr. Jon Kerry Bullock, 40, did Monday, Feb. 18, 2002 at the Medical University of South Carolina after an illness.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at First Baptist Church of Lake View. Burial will be in Lake View cemetery, directed by Cook Funeral Home of Lake View.

Mr. Bullock was born in Marion County, the son of Charles Larry and Janice Sanderson Bullock.

Surviving are his parents, Charles Larry and Janice S. Bullock of Lake View; a son, Jon Bullock of Lillington, N.C.; two brothers, Chuck Bullock of Lake View and Derek Bullock of Mareitta, N.C.; a sister, Dawn Ervin of Lake View; and three nieces and nephew, Ashley, Josie, Jana and Jason.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Lake View. P.O. Box 397, Lake View, S.C.

Ronnie Mae Yarborough

EFFINGHAM -- Ronnie Mae Yarborough, 68, of Effingham died early Thursday morning, Feb. 21, 2002 in a Florence hospital after an illness.

Miss Yarborough was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Hoyt E. and Bertha Carraway Yarborough. She attended Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church, was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class and a member of the Women's Auxiliary. She was a former employee of General Electric Corp. and was retired from Pee Dee Scale Co. of Effingham.

Surviving are her stepmother, Ruth Yarborough of Effingham; a sister, Jane (Johnny) Carmon of Effingham; three brothers, Buddy (Audrie) Yarborough and Wayne Yarborough, both of Effingham, and William (Joyce) Yarborough of Florence; nine nieces and nephews; three great-nieces and a great-nephew.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Matthews cemetery near Coward.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Yarborough, 204 E. Charlie Floyd Road, Effingham.

Florence DuBose Baker

FLORENCE -- Florence DuBose Baker, 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 in a local nursing facility after an illness.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at Mount Hope cemetery directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baker was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Sidney Luther and Margaret Hill DuBose. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 62 years where she was former a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Wesley Fellowship Class and the Joy Anderson Circle. She was a former member of the Azalea Garden Club.

Mrs. Baker was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Douglas S. Baker.

Survivors include her daughter, Florence B. (Frank) Oliver of Florence; a sister, Victoria (Austin) Thomas of Temperanceville, Va.; a brother, Fred (Marian) DuBose of Florence; a granddaughter, Melanie (Charles) Rogers of Darlington; a grandson, Douglas (Faith) Oliver of Florence; and three great-grandchildren, Sarah and Charlie Rogers and Baker Oliver.

Janie G. Singletary Wright

LAKE CITY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Janie G. Singletary Wright of Lake City will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 from Mt. Clair Baptist Church on Peachtree Street, Lake City, with the Rev. W.L. Thompson officiating and burial in Martha Crosby cemetery directed by Green's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wright, 69, died Saturday, Feb. 16. She was born in Florence County, a daughter of Millie Skeeters Graham and the late Ira Graham.

She attended the public schools of Florence County, was first married to the late Joe David Singletary.

Surviving are her husband, Swillie Wright of the home; a son, David (Joanne) Singletary of Danville, Va.; her mother, Millie Graham of Lake City; two brothers, James H. Graham of Philadelphia and Alfred (Jacqueline) Graham of Washington, D.C.; four sisters, Evang. Alberta (Cleo) Graham and Genevieve Montgomery, both of Lake City, Evang. Carrie (Curtis) McClam of Capitol Heights, Md., and Clanzy Weston of Sayreville, N.J.; six grandchildren; and five step-children.

Ray Wilson

FLORENCE -- Family and friends are invited to funeral services for Mr. Ray Wilson 11:00 Friday at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. Burial to follow at Florence National cemetery with full military honors. He died on February 18, 2002 in his residence after an illness.

born in Florence, he was the son of Juanita Graham Wilson and the late Roosevelt Wilson.

Ray was a 1962 graduate of Wilson High School. After spending 22 years in the United States Air Force, he retired honorably in 1984. He also received the Accommodation Medal of Honor.

Ray worked for the US Postal Service in Florence as a Mail Handler for 10 years and retired in 1999.

Survivors are: his wife Gloria Ham Wilson, two daughters, Shavonne Velega and Ngaia Wilson; two granddaughters, Sherina Velega and Aeris Williams; his mother; one brother, Sylvester Wilson; two sisters, Betty Wilson (Herman) Powers and Alberta P. Mouzon; mother-in-law, Louise Ham; three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law.

Family is receiving friends at 3610 Carroll Drive.

Willie D. Singletary

SCRANTON -- Funeral services for Mr. Willie D. Singletary will be at 2 p.m. today from East Lake City Holiness Church on McCutcheon Road, Lake City with burial in Sandhill cemetery, directed by Green's Funeral Home.

Mr. Singletary, 41, died Sunday, Feb. 17. He was born in Lake City, a son of Dee Singletary and the late Rena Bell Singletary Lubin.

Surviving are his wife, Lula Mae Singletary; a daughter, Kaeshawna Singletary of the home; a son, William Singletary of Lake City; three stepchildren, Laebony Singletary, Antenio Singletary of the home, and Finess Singletary of Denmark; his father, Dee Singletary of Miami; four sisters, Patricia (Bruno) Bruno, Dorothy Edwards, Bessie (Melvin) Singletary and Cora Mann, all of Miami; a brother, Sammie Singletary of Lake City; uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Rev. T. Mike Creech

FLORENCE -- Rev. Tunis Michael "Mike" Creech, 47, of 1413 King Ave., Florence, died Friday evening, Feb. 22, 2002, in a Spartanburg hospital after an illness.

Rev. Creech was born in Detroit, a son of the late Tunis and Mary Elizabeth Sights Creech. He attended the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tenn. After ordination as a Free Will Baptist Minister, he served as associate pastor of Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church in Flat River, Mo., from 1977-79, as pastor of Thomaston, Ga., Free Will Baptist Church from 1979-83, as pastor of Smithville, Miss., Free Will Baptist Church from 1983-91, as pastor of Bay Branch Free Will Baptist Church in Timmonsville from 1991-94 and as pastor of First Free Will Baptist Church of Florence from 1994 until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Alice Branson.

Surviving are his wife, Carla Jean Lambert Creech of Florence; two daughters, Rachel Creech and Hannah Creech, both of Florence; a son, Caleb Creech of Florence; and two sisters, Bonnie Gabbard of Michigan and Carol Bechard of Kentucky.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25 in First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will be Wednesday, Feb. 27 in Oak Hill cemetery in Jasper, Ala., directed by Kilgore-Green Funeral Home of Jasper.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

Gertrude H. Jones

MULLINS -- Mrs. Gertrude Harrelson Jones, 83, devoted widow of Jessie Thomas "J.T." Jones, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002 at Marion County Medical Center after an illness.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Macedonia United Methodist Church Prayer Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Frey and the Rev. Lewis McCormick officiating. Burial will follow in Millers United Methodist Church cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones was born Jan. 15, 1919 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Charles Hugh Harrelson and the late Maggie Norton Harrelson. Mrs. Jones was retired from the Mullins United Way, where she received two awards for community service. Mrs. Jones was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Stith Sunday School Class and Celia Perrit Circle.

Surviving Mrs. Jones are her children, Susan Jones of Johns Island, Charles Jones of Durham, N.C., and Mike Jones of Panama City, Fla.; three grandchildren, Michelle Carleton and Karen Jones, both of Panama City, Fla., and Nickolas Jones of Durham, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Jessie and Jacob Carleton; two sisters, Betty Harrelson and Ina Lewis, both of Mullins; and a brother-in-law, Caliph Lewis of Mullins.

Mrs. Jones was predeceased by a brother, Louis Harrelson.

Memorials may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church, 402 N. Main St., Mullins, S.C. 29574.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
