DARLINGTON -- Funeral service for Mr. Augustus "Gus" Jackson Jr. will be 3 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2002 in Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. D.L. Hughes, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Darlington Memorial cemetery directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Jackson died Saturday, May 25 at his residence after an illness. He was born in Darlington County a son of the late Augustus and Dorothy Williams Jackson, Sr.
He was a graduate of Mayo High School, Class of '66, and was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He lived most of his life in Darlington County where he was gainfully employed at Perfection America for 20 years. His last employment was at Galey & Lord of Society Hill.
Survivors include his son, Petty Officer Byron A. Jackson of Charleston Navy Base, Charleston; three brothers, Leroy (Betty) Jackson and Randy Jackson, both of Darlington, and James (Annie Lee) Jackson of Charlotte; three sisters, Ms. Gladys Jackson-Green of Darlington, Hannah Jackson of Washington, D.C., and Gussie Jackson of Columbia; a great-aunt, Mrs. Annie Mae Scott; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 303 Jessamine St., Darlington.
Charles Donald Cameron Jr.
MYRTLE BEACH -- Charles Donald Cameron Jr., 49, of Paul Street in Conway, died Friday, May 31, 2002 at Conway Hospital.
Mr. Cameron was born in Conway on Sept. 4, 1952, he was the son of the late Charles Donald Cameron and the late Helen Vannoy Goode.
He was a 1970 graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and attended the University of South Carolina.
Surviving are his stepmother, Mary Alice Cameron of Myrtle Beach; sisters, Lillian Candace Cameron Bailey of Rock Hill, Virginia Guy Cameron of Greenwood, Alice J. Cameron of Myrtle Beach and Guy Skipper Cameron Rice of Greenwood; brother, William Ennis Cameron of Rock Hill; and stepbrother, John Norton McMillan of Florence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Chapel of McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach with the Rev. Robert Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Memorial cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Mary Alice Cameron, 9328 Cove Drive, Myrtle Beach.

David M. Page
MULLINS -- Mr. David M. Page, 47, died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at his home.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, June 3 at Watson cemetery in Zion. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Mr. Page was born Aug. 21, 1954 in Marion, a son of Doris Rogers Page and the late David K. Page. Mr. Page had been employed by John Deere Dealerships for the past 10 years. He was a graduate of Mullins High School. Mr. Page was a member of Wildlife Action and a former member of the Marion Fire Department. Mr. Page was a member of Zion Southern Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Page are his mother, Doris Rogers Page of Mullins; three brothers, W. Kemper Page of Myrtle Beach, Michael L. Page of Timmonsville and Bobby Page of Mullins; and his companion, Elizabeth Black of Mullins.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 34, Marion, SC 29571.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
Jeanette Wilson
FLORENCE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Jeanette Wilson will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002 at Royall Street Church of God with Bishop David Short officiating. Burial will be in Pee Dee Memorial cemetery, directed by Peoples Funeral Home of Pamplico.
She died Thursday, May 30 at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness.
She was born in Florence County, a daughter of Dorothy Connerly and the late Abraham Smoot, Sr.
She attended Florence County public schools and was a member of Royall Street Church of God. She was employed by Fingers Cleaning Services of Columbia.
She leaves to cherish her memory a very devoted and loving companion, Robert Robinson of the home; a husband, George Wilson of Florence; a daughter, Chandra (Bostick) Wilson of Florence; five sons, Bryant Wilson, Twan Wilson, Justin Wilson, George (Maxine) Wilson, Jr., and Bradford Wilson, all of Florence; three sisters, Alice Smoot and Susie (Randy) Rich of Effingham and Emma (Willie) Dillard of Florence; three brothers, James (Evelyn) Smoot, Johnny Smoot and Leroy (Janice) Smoot of Florence; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 824 N. Commander St., Florence. The casket will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Monday.
Belva Coker Johnson
TURBEVILLE -- Belva Coker Johnson, 90, widow of Wylie W. Johnson died Monday in a Florence nursing home.
born Feb. 14, 1912, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Douglas Coker and the late Ellen Thigpen Coker. She was a Dietician at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. She was a member of Horse Branch Original Freewill Baptist Church, Turbeville, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also very active in the other organizations of her church.
Surviving are a daughter, Ellie J. (Fletcher Sr.) Johnson of Marion; three sons, Ralph J. (Pat) Johnson of Walterboro, Harris D. (Brenda) Johnson of Santee, G. Ashley (Marguerite) Johnson of Rock Hill; a sister, Nadine C. (James) Broad of Charleston; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Willie W. Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday in Horse Branch Freewill Baptist Church in Turbeville. Rev. Monroe Harrell will officiate, assisted by Rev. Jake Creech. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Horse Branch Freewill Baptist Church prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Stephens Funeral Home in Manning is in charge of the arrangements.
Margaret Nettles Leggette
FLORENCE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Nettles Leggette will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Ebenezer Baptist Church in Florence. Burial will follow in Northview cemetery.
Mrs. Leggette died on June 2, 2002. born in Florence County, she was the daughter of the late George Nettles Sr. and Elouise Addison Nettles.
She attended the public schools of Florence and was a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, Woodrow "Chuck" Legette; her son, Roland "Bunny" (Hanna) Nettles; grandchildren, Roland James, Kelly Blakney, Heavenly Joye Nettles; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Katie N. Frierson, Catherine (Hardy) Mitchell, Elouise (Ronnie) Roper; brothers, George (Dora) Nettles, Jr., Cleo (Rhonda) Nettles, Willie "Bill" Nettles.
Family will receive friends at 508 Kemp Street, Florence.

Abraham 'Monk' Smoot Sr.
FLORENCE -- Funeral services for Mr. Abraham (Monk) Smoot Sr. will be conducted 12 noon Tuesday at Wayside Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Mashack officiating. Burial will be in the Pee Dee Memorial cemetery directed by Peoples Funeral Home of Pamplico.
He was born in Florence County, a son of the late Edmond and Louise Robinson Smoot.
Mr. Smoot, 79, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, in a local nursing home after an illness.
He attended Florence County public schools. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church where he attended regularly until his health failed. He was retired from the city of Florence, where he was employed for more than 20 years. He was a veteran of World War II.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of the home, Dorothy Smoot; three sons, James (Evelyn) Smoot, Johnny Smoot of the home and Leroy (Janice) Connerly of Florence; four daughters, Emma (Willie) Dillard and Jeanett Wilson of Florence and Susie (Randy) Rich and Alice Smoot of Effingham; two brothers, Tom (Carrie Bell) Smoot and Lewis Smoot Sr. of Florence; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a very devoted niece, Angella Smoot Frieson of Florence.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 1112 Stephenson St., Florence. The casket will be placed in the church two hours prior to services.
Jack Perrin Lovensheimer
FLORENCE -- A Mass of Christian Burial will be said for Mr. Jack Perrin Lovensheimer at 11 a.m. Thursday May 30, 2002 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Art Dalupang officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday May 29 at Cain-Poston Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to Florence Little Theatre, 1000 S. Cashua Dr., Florence, SC 29501 or to McLeod Hospice, 555 E. Cheves St., Florence SC 29501.
Mr. Lovensheimer died Sunday May 26 at his residence. He was born June 26, 1930, in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Walter Raymond and Freda Alice Clark Lovensheimer. He was the husband of Jeanette West Lovensheimer.
He retired from DuPont as a supervisor in 1985 after 30 years of service. Since his retirement in 1985 he has been a volunteer at the Florence Little Theatre. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three Sons: Keith Lovenshiemer, of Chillicothe, Ohio, Brian(Sue) Lovensheimer, of Florence, Craig Lovensheimer of Florence, two Daughters; Lisa(Ray) Sims of Lake City, and Nina Dickison of Olympia, Wash., two brothers; David (Evelyn) Lovensheimer of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Clark(June) Lovensheimer of Wilmington, Del., a sister, Marsha(Don) Fout of Chillicothe, Ohio, a sister-in-law Margie Lovensheimer, and six grandchildren: Nathan & Bryce Dickison; John, Andrew, and Perry Lovensheimer and Nicole Sims. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Lovensheimer and a sister Betty Cutwright.
Funeral services are being directed by Cain-Poston Funeral Home.
Joseph Luckey Sr.
FLORENCE -- Funeral service for Mr. Joseph Luckey Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002 in Mt. Sinai Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Backus Funeral Home.
Mr. Luckey, a son of the late Moultry and Nancy Boone Luckey, was born Aug. 21, 1936 and was educated in Lee County public schools. He was employed at Midway Grocery 24 years as a chef until his health failed. At an early age he joined St. Paul UMC of Elliott. In 1955 he joined to the former Florence Mills and to this union eight children were born.
He slipped quietly into eternal rest Monday, May 27 after an extended illness.
Surviving are his wife, Florence M. Luckey of the home; a daughter, Janice L. (Marion) Williams, and seven sons, Joseph (Debra) Jr., Levern (Priscilla) , Jimmy, Jeffery (Wanda) , Jason V. (Melissa) , Leon (Sereata) , and L. Andre (Shantel) Lucky, all of the home; two daughters, Olean (Robert) Hickman of Bishopville and Ernestine Thomas of Thomasville, NC.; four sisters, Willie Mae Thomas, Irene Wilson, Lannie Luckey and Annie L. McKenzie; two brothers, Jay and Isiah Luckey; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six in-laws; a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive members and friends at the home, 1228 W. Dixie St., Florence.
Jimmie Simon
SOCIETY HILL -- Funeral service for Mrs. Jimmie Simon of 335 Church Street, Society Hill will be 4:30 p.m. today, May 28, 2002 in Mt. Rona Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Matthew Robinson, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home Inc. of Darlington.
Mrs. Simon, 90, died on Saturday, May 25, in a Hartsville hospital after an illness. She was born in Darlington County a daughter of the late Nancy Martin. She was the widow of Luchious Simon Sr.
She received her formal education in the Darlington County public schools. She was a life member of Mt. Rona Baptist Church where she served on the senior choir, missionary society and other capacity as needed until her declining health.
She was employed as a Cook with the Darlington County School District Rosenwald Elementary and High School. She was also owner and operator of Simon's Snack Bar.
She was preceded by a son, Luchious Simon Jr.
Survivors include a special son, Robert (Jaunita) Wilson of Cheraw; grandchildren, Donnie M. (Rev. Conrad) Gibson of Dover, Pa., Ronnie (Marie) Nettles of Newtonville, N.J., Phillip Nettles of York, Pa.; four other grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Nannie 'Nancy' DeWitt Anderson
FLORENCE -- Nannie "Nancy" DeWitt Anderson, 89, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 at her residence after an illness.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Mount Hope cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Darlington, a daughter of the late Willie Lee and Betty Ann Gravely DeWitt. She graduated from the McLeod Infirmary School of Nursing in 1934 and was a private duty Registered Nurse for over 50 years. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 50 years and was the widow of John Witherspoon Anderson.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by a brother, William Gravely DeWitt and a sister, Eleanor DeWitt Turner.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth (John) Woods of Cashiers, N.C. and Joan (Kamil) Zakhour of Florence; a sister, Mary Elizabeth "Polly" Toomey of Hartsville; four grandchildren, Lieutenant John P. Woods III of San Diego, Ca., DeWitt Anderson (Amy) Woods, Benjamin Connally Woods and Nancy Elizabeth Woods all of Florence.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Pee Dee, 555 E. Cheves Street, Florence, S.C. 29506.
