FLORENCE -- Minnie Pagel "Betty" Richards, 88, of Florence, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001 in McLeod Regional Medical Center. born December 27, 1912, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Pagel and Johanna Page. She was the wife of the late Arden "Art" Richards.
Mrs. Richards was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word, and was involved in the Lutheran Aid Association. Mrs. Richards was a member in the Red Robin Club and was active in the Senior Citizen's Association. She was a retired secretary from Stone Container in Florence.
She is survived by one son, Robert "Bob" Richards and his wife, Ilene of Florence, SC; one daughter, Carol Louise Johnson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Also surviving are five granddaughters, Christine Barber and her husband, Joey; Tiffany Johnson, and Victoria Davis, all of Darlington, SC, Samantha Johnson, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Traci Moore and her husband Gra' of Florence; one grandson, Robbie Richards of Florence and six great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are three brothers.
Visitation will be from 7-9pm, Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 at Cain-Poston Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00pm Friday, December 14, 2001, in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel Entombment will follow.
Saleem N. Saleeby Jr.
MYRTLE BEACH -- Dr. Saleem N. Saleeby Jr., 67, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at his residence.
He was born March 20, 1934, in Dillon, a son of Essie Moody Saleeby and the late S.N. Saleeby Sr.
Dr. Saleeby was a graduate of The Citadel and the University of Virginia School of Medicine and Dentistry. He was a member of American Dental Association, Horry County Dental Society and First Presbyterian Church for 27 years, a former member of the Civitans Club, a volunteer with S.O.S., and served in the United States Air Force as a Captain.
Survivors include his wife, Christine A. Jetmar-Saleeby of the home; his mother of North Myrtle Beach; a son, Dale Saleeby of Dallas; four stepchildren, Carlton Hamilton of Monroe, N.C., Thomas Hamilton of Myrtle Beach, James Jetmar of Ferrum, Va., Teresa Jetmar of West Orange, N.J.; a brother, Charles W. Saleeby of Hendersonville, N.C.; a sister, Barbara Maples of North Myrtle Beach and Charlotte, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach. The Rev. Robert Wilkes will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Charles Clinton Cutts Sr.
CONWAY -- Charles Clinton Cutts Sr., 94, of Elm Street, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001 at home with his family.
Mr. Cutts was born Dec. 27, 1906 in Florence, a son of the late Captain John Allen and Olin Heptinstall Cutts. He was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church of Conway and was a graduate of North Carolina State University. Mr. Cutts served on the Board of Directors of the Conway National Bank since 1945 and was the longest serving director in the history of the bank. He was married
to the late Eugenia Buck Cutts.
Surviving are three sons, Charles C. Cutts Jr. of Greensboro, N.C., Henry Buck Cutts and his wife Brenda of Surfside Beach and Edward Cutts and his wife Janice of Socastee; one daughter, Genie Cutts Peterson and her husband Pete of Conway; one sister, Olin Cutts Vaughn of Darlington; six grandchildren, F. Walter Peterson III of Murrells Inlet, Jessamine "Jessie" Thibodeaux of Houston, Texas, Mary Ellen Cutts and Kelly Cutts both of North Myrtle Beach, Claire Cutts Abbott of Charleston and Emeline Eugenia Cutts of Surfside Beach and one great grandchild, Janea Jessamine Thibodeaux.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Buck Family cemetery (Old Bucksville Road) with the Rev. John Hipp, officiating. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the residence, 701 Elm Street, Conway.

Lawrence R. Costello
FT. MYERS BEACH, Fla. -- Lawrence R. Costello, 70, of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2001 in Ft. Myers. He had been a resident of Ft. Myers Beach since 1989 coming from Syracuse, N.Y. Mr. Costello was born in Syracuse, N.Y., a son of the late Hurbert and Ethel (Greiner) Costello. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara C. Costello; four daughters, Lesley Kirby of Florence, Pamela Helbling and Amy Costello of Orlando, Fla., and Colleen Costello of Tampa, Fla. He also is survived by three grandsons, Garrett, Eric and Justin, as well as his brother, Thomas of Minoa, N.Y., and his sister, Dolores of Pulaski, N.Y.
Larry "Ronnie" was raised in Minoa, N.Y. He was a scholar athlete at Niagara University and was the recipient of the Niagara Medal as the outstanding senior. He became a two-time NCAA Collegiate All-American and then went on to serve in the U.S. Army.
Following the army, Larry played 12 years with the NBA. He was the free throw champion of the league several years, and was named to the NBA All-Star team six times. After an outstanding NBA playing career, he served 10 years as an NBA head coach. His teams won five Western Division Championships and the NBA World Championship. He was one of a few people to become a World Champion both as a player (Philadelphia 76'ers, 1966-67) and as a head coach (Milwaukee Bucks, 1970-71) .
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Church of the Ascension of Ft. Myers Beach with Fr. Jim Dorr officiating. Additional services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 in his hometown of Minoa, N.Y., at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Cr., Ft. Myers, Fla. 33908 or to your local hospice in lieu of flowers.
Camilee Hannah Fulmore McClam
OLANTA -- Funeral services for Mrs. Camilee Hannah Fulmore McClam will be at 1 p.m. today from the Greater St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, St. Stephens Lane, Lake City, with the Rev. Samuel Burgess, pastor, officiating. The interment will follow in Martha Crosby cemetery, Highway 341, Olanta.
Mrs. McClam, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 at her residence in Olanta after an extended illness.
Sister Camilee Hannah Fulmore McClam, a daughter of the late Mr. Abraham Hannah Sr. and Mrs. Elease Rush Hannah, was born Oct. 2, 1926, in Clarendon County. She was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers, namely, Mrs. Nancy Lee McCray, Mr. Abraham Hannah Jr. and Mr. CeCe Hannah.
She received her formal education in the public schools of Florence.
Sister McClam was a member of the Greater Saint Stephens Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully as a member of the Senior Choir, Kitchen Aid Committee and the Pulpit Aid. She also was a member of Jordan Chapel No. 237, Order of the Eastern Star.
Sister Camilee Hannah Fulmore McClam was a native of Olanta. She was a domestic worker until her retirement.
The former Miss Camilee Hannah was united in holy matrimony to late Mr. Joseph Fulmore Sr. She later met and married
the late Mr. Wallace "JB" McClam. A son preceded her in death, Mr. Krenshaw Fulmore.
Her loving memory will always be cherished by her devoted children: four daughters, Mrs. Joretha (Jeffery) Wilson and Ms. Gail Fulmore Ham, both of Lake City, Mrs. Emma Jean (Leroy) Rush and Mrs. Nancy (J.T.) Graham, both of Olanta; three sons, Mr. William T. Fulmore of Paterson, N.J., Mr. Charles (Jeanette) Fulmore and Mr. Stanley (Etherlean) Fulmore, both of Olanta; two grandsons she reared as her own, Mr. Kelvin (Melissa) Fulmore of Olanta and Mr. Brian (Iris) Fulmore of Columbia; two faithful sisters, Mrs. Letha Mae Gaskins of Olanta and Mrs. Winnie Mae Frierson of Paterson, N.J.; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Bonnie Hannah of Lake City, Ms. Willie Mae Fulmore of Milton, Del., Mrs. Helen Johnson and Mrs. Marietta McCleary, both of Kingstree; an aunt, Mrs. Viola Hannah of Paterson, N.J.; 10 stepchildren, Mrs. Mary (Lenard Sr.) Murphy and Mr. Cornell McClam, both of Kingstree, Mr. Wallace (Easter Mae) McClam Jr. and Mr. Willard (Mazzie) McClam, both of Philadelphia, Mrs. Jenny Lois (Clinton) Brown and Mrs. Viola (Alphonsa) Murphy, both of Cades, Asale Toure (Kabisa) Nkuva of Columbia, Mrs. Blondell (Nathaniel) Bennett of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Nevi Dell (Henry) McKenzie and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Edward) Graham, both of Lake City; seven additional adoring grandchildren; four admiring great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

W. Raymond Goodson
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Walter Raymond Goodson Sr., 80, of 403 Amherst Ave., Melbourne, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at his residence after a brief illness.
Mr. Goodson was born in Darlington, a son of the late Walter R. and Belle Davis Goodson. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a member of The First Baptist Church of Melbourne, Fla. He was a retired electrician and a member of the IBEW Orlando Local. He had been a resident of Melbourne since 1957.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Gardner Goodson, who died in 1955.
Surviving are two sons, Ray Goodson Jr. of Ocoee, Fla., and Tim Goodson of Melbourne, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruth Flowers and Maybelle Haynes, both of Darlington, and Agnes Gainey of Florence.
Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church Building Fund, 3301 Dairy Road, Melbourne, Fla.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 in Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel in Florence. Burial will follow in Salem United Methodist Church cemetery near Timmonsville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the funeral home.
Eddie Howard Welch
SUMTER -- Eddie Howard Welch, 52, husband of Donna Faye Duke Welch, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001 at his home.
born in Sardinia, he was a son of Mabel Springs Welch and the late Samuel Luther Welch.
Mr. Welch was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church and was employed by Square D Company in Columbia for 15 years. He graduated from East Clarendon High School and Sumter Area Technical College with an associate degree in business. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran, a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the Marksman Medal and Vietnam Medal.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; his mother of Sardinia; a son, Justin Howard Welch of Sumter; two daughters, Melissa Welch Jackson and her husband Brian and April Welch Stanfield and her husband K.B., all of Sumter; a brother, Luther Devonne Welch of Hanahan; a sister, Elaine W. Duke of Lamar; and two granddaughters, Sara Ashlee Jackson and Emily Faye Jackson, both of Sumter.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Walt Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home, 325 Pack Road.

TIMMONSVILLE -- Jack W. Floyd, 68, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Floyd Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church cemetery.
born in Williamsburg County, he was a son of the late Soloman Watson Floyd and Jane Floyd Reed Sauls. He was a fish and seafood distributor and was a member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ollie Floyd and Joseph Allen Floyd.
Surviving are his wife, Faye Lee Thigpen Floyd of Timmonsville; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Corley and Brenda Lee (Jimbo) Powers, both of Timmonsville; five sons, Rickie Floyd, Roger Allen (Renea) Floyd, Rayford Floyd, Robert Watson Floyd and Calip Allen Floyd, all of Timmonsville; two sisters, Julia Floyd Feagin of Georgetown, and Millie Jane (Bobby) Driggers of Sumter; a brother, Sollie (Mary) Floyd of Timmonsville; and eight grandchildren.

PHILADELPHIA -- John Black of Philadelphia, PA, originally of Savannah Grove Community, died at his home on Saturday, December 9, 2001. Funeral Services will be Friday, December 14, 2001, at St. Barnabas Methodist Church in Philadelphia, PA. He is the son of the late Tom and Gussie Black. Local announcement by Ideal Funeral Parlor.
Edith Barnwell Tobin
FLORENCE -- Edith Barnwell Tobin, 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001. born in Barnwell, Miss Tobin was the daughter of the late Edit Barnwell and Isidore L'Artique.
Miss Tobin served as a teacher in the Florence Public School System from 1934 to 1976 at McClenaghan High School and West Florence High School. In 1964 Miss Tobin states: "I have enjoyed the most happy and agreeable years, among the finest people in the world." In her retired years, Miss Tobin was interim principal at All Saints Day School.
Miss Tobin earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Winthrop College, a Masters degree in teaching from Columbia Teachers College and a Masters degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina.
Miss Tobin was a founder and on the vestry of All Saints Episcopal Church in Florence and in her early retirement was active with the alumni of Winthrop College.
Miss Tobin is predeceased by her brother, Isidore L'Artique Tobin II, and two nephews, Commander Isidore L'Artique Tobin III and Major (Ret.) Jacob George Wannamaker "Jack' Tobin. Surviving are her nephews' wives, Mrs. Betty Tobin Snyder and Mrs. Nancy Tobin; grand-nieces and -nephews, Mark Tobin, Michael Tobin, Vicki Maddox, Maria Tobin and Fred Herring; two great-grand-nieces and two great-grand-nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14 in Mount Hope cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Louis Snyder, 1025 Mimosa Drive, in Florence.

DARLINGTON -- Kristoffer Sean Carter, 24, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001 in his Columbia residence. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 in Grove Hill cemetery directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter was born in Darlington County the son of Jack Leslie Jr. and Tami Leach Carter. He attended Darlington High School and was employed in construction. Mr. Carter attended First Church of God in Darlington.
Surviving are his father and stepmother, Les and Debbie Carter of Darlington; his mother and stepfather, Tami and Jimmy Smith of Darlington; a sister, Leslie Michelle Carter of Darlington; grandparents, Jack and Jean Carter, Leon (Sonny) and Kathleen Campbell, and Mrs. Virginia Floyd, all of Darlington; and two stepbrothers, David Vinnenberg and Christopher Vinnenberg, both of Darlington.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James C. 'Jimmy' Dudley
HARTSVILLE -- Funeral services for James C. 'Jimmy' Dudley, 57, who died Thursday, Nov. 29 will be at 7 p.m. today from the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. The Rev. Scarlett L. Tanner will officiate. Family will receive friends following the service.
Mr. Dudley was born in Darlington County a son of the late Robert Ansel Dudley Sr. and Mary Hopkins Dudley. He was a member of Twitty Methodist Church and a painter.
Surviving are a daughter, Christy D. Weatherford of Moncks Corner; stepson, Jessie Faulkenbury of Kershaw; sisters, Mrs. Peggy Brand of Hartsville and Mrs. Mary Louise Morse of Darlington; brothers, Robert A. Dudley Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Larry J. Dudley of Gaston; stepbrother, Joseph McDaniel of Gaston; and two grandchildren.
