FLORENCE -- Funeral Services for Thomas Edward Solomon will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Savannah Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Solomon cemetery in Lynchburg, SC. He died on November 23, 2001 in a local hospital.
born in Lee County, he was the son of the late Sam and Viney Edwards Solomon.
Survivors are: his wife, Lula Bell Solomon; seven sons; Timothy Solomon, John Mark (Cynthia) Solomon, Samuel Wesley (Zshonnelle) Solomon, Thomas Edward Solomon, Jr., Roosevelt (Dorothy) Scott, Nathaniel Isaac, Ralph McFadden; two daughters, Peggy Ann Solomon (Blair) Bergen, Algia (James) McCray; 19 grandchildren; two sisters Mary Thomas, Calpernia (Roosevelt) Nixon, two brothers, Zaddok (Mae) Solomon, Winston Solomon

Ladelle Parnell Watford
TIMMONSVILLE -- Ladelle Parnell Watford, 90, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001 in a Florence hospital. She was born in Darlington County a daughter of the late Preston G. Parnell Sr. and Eddie P. Parnell. She was the wife of the late Fred J. Watford.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law, Sarah Lou Watford and Mary Watford, both of Timmonsville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 in Salem United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery directed by Layton-Anderson Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Parnell in Lamar.

Clayton Howard Berry
HAMER -- Services for Clayton Howard Berry will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002 in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Evergreen cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Mr. Berry, 69, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001 at his residence.
born in Dillon County, Aug. 13, 1932, he was the son of the late James Leon Berry and Annie Mae Williams Berry. He was a retired logger.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Evans Berry of Hamer; daughter, Wanda Lovett of Dillon; sons, Howard Dennis Berry of Little Rock, Tim Berry of Calhoun, Ga., and Wayne Keith Berry of Hamer; brother, Henry C. Berry of Hamer; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Addie Corine Floyd Piatt
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Addie Corine Floyd Piatt, 89, wife of the late Kenneth Edward Piatt, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001 at Conway Nursing Center following an illness.
Mrs. Piatt was born in Fork on May 27, 1912, a daughter of the late John Lattie and Martha Cora Fort Floyd. She was a graduate of Aynor High School and Mullins Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1933. Mrs. Piatt was a registered nurse in Mullins prior to her marriage. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, Va. She was very devoted to her church and was a member of various service organizations connected with the church. Her love for gardening led her to a very active membership in the Virginia Beach Garden Club. She and her husband retired in Virginia Beach, Va., and enjoyed their home, neighbors and yard. She was predeceased by two brothers, Forrest Floyd and George Floyd, and a sister, Annie Laura Floyd Davis.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Aynor cemetery with the Rev. Olin McBride officiating. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Graham Jr.
LAKE CITY -- Funeral services for Mr. Joe Graham Jr. will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 from Mt. Clair Baptist Church on Peachtree Street in Lake City with the Rev. W.L. Thompson officiating and burial in Rest Lawn cemetery, directed by Green's Funeral Home.
Mr. Graham, 71, died Thursday, Dec. 27. He was born in Florence County, a son of the late Joe Graham Sr. and Lula Mae Eaddy Graham.
"Junior" attended the public schools of Florence County, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Mt. Clair Baptist Church, and retired from Florence County School District 3, Lake City.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Graham; six daughters, Sharon McNeil, Debra (Curtis) Fulmore, Arlene Graham, Gail (Kelvin) Alford and Kenya Graham, all of Lake City, and Beverly Graham of Florence; two sons, Joey Graham of Philadelphia and Jason (Audrey) Graham of Columbia; a sister, Queen McKnight of Lake City; a brother, James (Helen) Graham of Lane; additional sisters-in-law, Ruthe Lee Adams of Kingstree, Betty McKnight of Charlotte, N.C., and Carolyn Bowens of Kansas City, Kan.; brothers-in-law, Arthur (Alberta) Godwin and Robert (Geneva) Godwin of Lake City; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; and two aunts, Annie Bell Solomon and Verlie Dawson.
Tom Bonds
FLORENCE -- Funeral service for Mr. Tom "Mickey" Bonds will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002 in Old Marion Baptist Church in Dry Branch, Ga. Burial will be in White Spring cemetery in Dry Branch, Ga.
Mr. Bonds died Saturday, Dec. 29 in a Florence hospital.
He was born in Dry Branch, Ga., a son of Mrs. Cleo Riggins Bonds and the late Willie B. Bonds. He attended the public schools of Twiggs County. He worked for more than 33 years as a foreman with the Pepsi Cola Company, Brooklyn, N.Y. He retired and moved to South Carolina. He attended Salem United Methodist Church in Florence.
Survivors include his wife, Jane McCants Bonds; his mother, Mrs. Cleo Riggins Bonds of Dry Branch, Ga.; two sons, Bruce (Maggie) Bonds and Bryant Bonds of Florence; two daughters, Zenola Fields of Bronx, N.Y., and Cherie Bonds of Florence; a brother, Isaiah Bonds of Macon, Ga.; four sisters, Bessie Bonds, Loretta (George) Davis, Shirley (Jack) Little and Mary (Victor) Johnson, all of Macon, Ga.; two granddaughters, Michelle Bonds and Courtney Fields; a grandson, Dashawn Bonds; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements are by Peoples Funeral Service of Florence and Hutchings Funeral Home of Macon, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 in the C.H. Timmons Memorial Chapel of Peoples Funeral Service of Florence and at other times at 2807 National cemetery Road, Florence.
Boyd 'Buck' Allen Jordan
FLORENCE -- Boyd "Buck" Allen Jordan, 48, of Florence, died Thursday, December 27, 2001
in St. Eugene Medical Center in Dillon, SC. born August 29, 1953, in Florence, SC, he was the son of Walter Allen Jordan and Janice Weaver Jordan. He was the husband of Brenda Hudson Jordan.
Mr. Jordan formerly worked with Merita Bakery for over 20 years. He was presently employed with RLC Logging. He was a member of Mecca Lodge #407 A.F. & A.M. and Moose Lodge of Florence.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Brenda Hudson Jordan, are four daughters, Ginger (John) Jordan of Dillon, Wendy (Tim) McKinley of Florence, Tammie (Nick) Turbeville of Florence, Donna (Robert) Turner of Effingham; one son, Walter Allen (Heather) Jordan, II of Timmonsville; two brothers, Harry (Ernestine) Jordan of Florence, Mallory (Barbara) Jordan of Timmonsville, SC; two sisters, Debra (Lon) Bower, Rhonda (James) Evans of Florence; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 29, 2001 from 6-8 p.m, at Cain-Poston
Funeral Home, 512 West Second Loop Road, Florence, SC. Services will be Sunday, December 30, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cain-Poston Funeral Home Chapel.
Entombment will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Masonic Rites.
Clara Mack Calhoun Anderson
DILLON -- Mrs. Clara Mack Calhoun Anderson died Dec. 26, 2001 at the residence.
Mrs. Anderson widow of W.B. Anderson was born in Fork, S.C. Dec. 14, 1933 a daughter of the late James Mack and Dorothy Thomas Calhoun.
She is survived by brothers Williams Wade Calhoun and James Earl (Ann G.) Calhoun both of Fork, S.C. sister Mary Emma C. Bultman of Columbia, S.C. and nieces Cynthia Ann B. Lewis of Fairmont, N.C. and Jamie C. Estes of Fork, S.C. great nephew Jetter Calhoun Lewis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at Kannadays Funeral Home in Dillon, S.C. with entombment at Greenlawn cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday Dec. 28, 2001 from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Judes Hospital.
Olivia Shields McLeod
OLANTA -- Funeral services for Mrs. Olivia Shields McLeod will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 from Emwell Baptist Church in Olanta with the Rev. William Boyd Jr. officiating and burial in St. Mark cemetery directed by Green's Funeral Home of Lake City.
Mrs. McLeod, 78, died Monday, Dec. 24. She was born in Lee County, a daughter of the late Alice Lee and Theodore Shilds. She was married
to the late Ben McLeod.
Surviving are two daughters, Annie Laura (John) Burgess and Mozell (George) McLeod of Olanta; two sons, Ben (Claretha) McLeod Jr. of Olanta and Norris McLeod of Hartsville; a sister-in-law, Mary McLeod of Olanta; brother-in-law, Buster McFadden of Olanta; 26 grandchildren; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mildred A. Koger
CONWAY -- Mildred A. Koger, 48, of Hucks Ln., died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2001 at her home.
born June 22, 1953 in Albany, Kentucky she was the daughter of Elsie Giffins Koger and the late Charles Thomas Koger.
Surviving in addition to her mother of Woodbury, N.J.; include one son, Joseph S. Geathouse II and his wife Paulette of Coward; four sisters, Christina Kiser and Mary Hochschweinder both of Akron, Ohio, Norma Jean O'Brien of Dallas, Texas and Paula Jean Taylor of Scranton; one stepbrother, Carl Giffins of N.J.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Inez Baker Burwood
SUMTER -- Inez Baker Burwood, wife of Erlon G. Burwood, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001 at her home.
Mrs. Burwood was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church, Lynchburg. She was a member of Beulah Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She as a former member of the Home Demonstration Club of Sumter County. She was a retired dietary department supervisor at Tuomey Hospital.
She was twice married
, first to the late William Clyde Baker and later to Erlon G. Burwood who survives along with a son, Charles LeGrand Baker of Sumter; three daughters, Dot Moore and her husband Robert L. "Bob" of Lake City, Sylvia Eloise Floyd of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ruth Floyd of Winnsboro; a stepdaughter, Tammy B. Smith, and her husband Sam of Sumter; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a son-in-law, Onan E. Floyd of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 in the Chapel of Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bower and her nephew, Rev. Theron Tomlinson, officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 at the funeral home.
Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Lela Olivia C. Welbourne
LAKE VIEW -- Mrs. Lela Olivia Curtis Welbourne, 97, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at The Pine Nursing Home after an illness.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at Elmwood cemetery and Gardens in Columbia, directed by Cook Funeral Home of Lake View. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Welbourne was born in Dillon County the daughter of the late Harrison Lee and Mary Elizabeth Miller Curtis. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, a member of the W.M.U. Society of the Church and did home mission ministry of floral arrangement for the shut-in and the sick for many years. She was a member of Cherry-Laurel Garden Club and the University of South Carolina Women's Auxiliary. She taught school in both Dillon and Richland counties.
Surviving are a a daughter, Mrs. Elaine C. Hayes of Lake View; two grandchildren, Mr. John Fitzhugh Hayes and Mrs. Mary Edith H. Lackey; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Welbourne was preceded in death by her son, Frank L. Welbourne Jr.
