Jerry Vail
GREENWOOD - James T. "Jerry" Vail, 63, resident of 119 Lauren Circle, husband of Lynn Bollinger Vail, died September 11, 2001 at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Salisbury, NC, January 2, 1938, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Janie Ester Moore Vail. He was a graduate of Spencer High School, Spencer, NC and he attended North Carolina State University. He was retired from Monsanto (now known as Solutia) after 37 years of service. He was presently employed as a property manager for Uptown Property Management.
A member of Emerald Baptist Church, he was also a member of the Home Builders Sunday School Class and he was past president of the Lauren Circle Home Owners Association. He was a volunteer tutor for Greenwood Regional Correctional Center and a counselor for Conquerors Drug and Alcohol Abuse.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons, Jeffery Thomas Vail of Daytona Beach, FL and Robert Scott Vail of Greenwood; two daughters, Kelly Vail Riddle of Greenwood and Mary Jane Vail of Columbia; a stepson, David Wells of Ninety Six; a stepdaughter, Mickie Hite of Myrtle Beach; a brother, Robert E. Vail of Greensboro, NC; a sister, Mary Jane V. Andrews of Pensacola, FL; three grand-children, Brad Vail, "J.T." Vail, and Matthew Vail; five step-grandchildren.
Mr. Vail was predeceased by a brother, Jack N. Vail.
Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Saturday at Emerald Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Eidson, Tunny Blackmon, Charles Stone, Ken Mattison and Eddie Barfield officiating.
Pallbearers will be members of Home Builders Sunday School Class along with Jerry Perkins, Jerry Duncan, Robert McFaddin, Sam Stevenson, Byron Jones, Ed Marut, Charlie Herndon, Billy Burdette, Lewie Rodgers, Jack Griffin, Preston Abrams, Danny Smith, Harrold Collins, Tommy Cal-houn, Joe Campbell, Jim Martin and Jeff Sargent.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at Blyth Funeral Home from 7 to 9 Friday evening. Memorials may be made to Emerald Baptist Church Building Fund, 1510 Evans Pond Road, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Kate Zuver
GREENWOOD — Kate Rivers Zuver, 77, of National HealthCare of Greenwood, widow of M. Zuver, died Sept. 10, 2001 at Self Memorial Hospital.
born in Chesterfield County, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Nell Rivers. She graduated from Wingate College, Wingate, N.C., and Montreat College, Montreat, N.C., and retired from the North Carolina public school system after 32 years of service. She was a member of Higgins Memorial Methodist Church in Burnsville, N.C.
Survivors include Kathryn Lee of Ozark, Ala.; a son, James Byron Zuver Sr. of Greenwood; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 Saturday at Higgins Memorial Methodist Church, Burnsville, by the Rev. Rick Dean.
Visitation is at the church from 12-1 Saturday.
The family is at the Letterman residence on Glendale Avenue in Burnsville.

John Jennings
Mr. John Russell "Rusty" Jennings, 38, of Rock Hill, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008.
A memorial service was held April 9, 2008, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill.
born Jan. 10, 1970, to John Gary and Margaret Russell Jennings in Rock Hill, Rusty grew up a devoted son, loving brother and lifelong friend to all who knew him. Rusty was the grandson of Roy and Mildred Russell of Rock Hill and John and Thelma Jennings of Fort Mill. A graduate of Northwestern High School (1988) and the University of South Carolina (1992), Rusty was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He worked with Barton Services until becoming disabled in 1997. An avid Gamecock, Tarheel and Chicago Bulls fan and World War II buff, he enjoyed basketball, traveling, reading, fitness training, and spending time at the beach. A lifelong member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, he is remembered as a handsome, loving, faithful and happy man who handled the gradually debilitating effects of Huntington's Disease with grace and peace.
Rusty is survived by his mother and paternal grandmother; a sister, Janet Jennings Hamilton of Columbia and her husband Scott: four nieces and nephews, Chloe Elise, John Dane, Margaret Wallis and Alec Thomas; cousins Cheryl Farah, Christine and Eric McCraven (and their children Mason and Blake), George Duncan and Crystal and John Lytle; and aunts and uncles, Barbara and Eddie Farah, Doris Duncan, and Roy and Darlene Russell.
His extended family includes his wonderful and compassionate care team at the C.M. Tucker Nursing Facility in Columbia, which cared for him since the summer of 2005, as well as Dr. Ruth Abramson, Dr. Miroslav Cuturic and Hospice Care of Tri-County in Columbia.

Ms. Gloria Bjorn Kritzer, 84, of York, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at the Wayne Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.

born in Bogota, N.J., Ms. Kritzer was a daughter of the late Carl and Josephine Echterbecker Bjorn. She served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. She worked in the retail industry and attended Riverview Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Kritzer is survived by her son, Kenneth Robert Kritzer and his wife, Dawn, of Bumpass, Va.; a brother, Robert Bjorn of Norwood, N.Y.; a sister, Nancy Potts and her husband Donald of Fort Mill; a grandson, Jason Neal Kritzer of Bumpass, Va.; a nephew, Brian B. Potts and his wife Angie of York; and a niece, Krystine Beaken of New Alexandria, Pa.

Mrs. Lillian D. Myhal, 91, of Fort Mill, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at the Mecklenburg Health Care Center in Charlotte, after an extended illness. Vivian Blackwelder
Miss. Vivian Ann Blackwelder, 62, of Franklin, Tenn., died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at St. Thomas Hospice Care.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Aubrey Smith officiating. Burial was in Unity cemetery.
A native of Fort Mill, Vivian was the daughter of the late William and Delewese Blackwelder. She received her teaching degree from Trevecca Nazarene College of Nashville, Tenn., and retired from the Metro Nashville School system after 33 years. She also loved working in her flowers and doing yard work. She is a longtime member of Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene and attended First Church of the Nazarene of Nashville.
Mrs. Blackwelder is survived by two brothers, James R. (Jimmy) Blackwelder and Michael A. Blackwelder; a sister, Linda B. Helms; her very dear friends, Wiley and Lynn Shephard; her godchildren, Benny Shephard and Donna Shudde; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, William Walter (Sonny) Blackwelder and two nephews, Randy Blackwelder and Wayne Helms.

born in Rock Hill, Johnny was a son of Nancy Ferguson Arrants and the late Donald Morris Arrants. He was a championship dirt track driver and all around race fan. Johnny was an exceptional artist. His other passions were music and just life in general. Johnny attended Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Indian Land and was a member of Mt. Holly United Methodist Church in Rock Hill.
Mr. Arrants is survived by his wife, Ann Hewett Arrants; a son, Don; two daughters, Summer and Hailey; a grandson, Aiden; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and James Edward Arrants; a brother, Bruce Edward Arrants and his wife Cecelia; his godparents, Harold and Nancy Tinker and their family; and his mother-in-law, Patsy Poole. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Emory Poole.

LINDENWOLD, N.J. — Mary S. Wood, 66, widow of Wayne Wood, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004.
She attended Brewer High School in Greenwood, S.C.
Survivors include three brothers, Walter Starks Jr., Frank Starks and Allen Starks; and three sisters, Queen Ester Starks, Annette Starr and Mary Lou Starr.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Baptist Church, 1115 Gibbsboro Road. Burial is in Harleigh cemetery, Camden.

Ted Rayford Cantrell Jr., 40, formerly of 534 Circle Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004 at Royal Oaks Hospice Care, Dade City, Fla.
born in Abbeville, he was a son of Ted R. Cantrell Sr. and Carolyn Wilson Cantrell. He was a 1981 graduate of Greenwood High School, a former member of Boy Scout Troop 57 and an Eagle Scout.
Employed by Sawmill Resort in Tribley, Fla., he was a member of Panola United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his parents of Greenwood; a sister, Laurie Ann Cantrell of Williamston; and his maternal grandmother, Ethel Wilson of Abbeville.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. today at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville, conducted by the Revs. Karen Radcliffe and Robert E. Titus.
Pallbearers are Melvin Foshee, Curtis Burnett, Sonny Nickolaus, David Foshee, Vernon Clamp and Ronnie Clamp.
