Edith S. Rouner
Edith Simmons Rouner, 93, widow of Guy Todd Rouner, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 at Pepper Hill Nursing Home in Aiken.
born in Petroleum, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Preston and Winnerfred Kerns Simmons. She was a practical nurse, a seamstress, a farmer’s wife and a cook and was also formerly employed by Fenton Glass in West Virginia. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Loretta Moses of Greenwood; a sister, Nina Whipkey of Grantsville, W.Va.; two brothers, Marion Simmons of Poca, W.Va., and Preston Simmons Jr. of California; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Ron Taylor.

SALUDA, SC – Deborah Anne Cockrell Berry, 49, widow of Ronnie Dale Berry died Sunday, December 12, 2004.
born in Saluda County, she was the daughter of Beatrice Kneece Cockrell and the late Earl “Red” Cockrell. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Saluda Chapter of the American Red Cross where she was the November 16, 1996 Volunteer of the Year award winner and was also an Emergency Medical Technician and volunteered with the Saluda Ambulance Service. She retired from Saluda Nursing Center as a LPN.
Surviving is her mother, Beatrice Kneece Cockrell of Saluda, two brothers, James Earl and his wife Linda Cockrell of Gilbert and John Wesley Cockrell of Saluda, three nephews, Matthew Earl Cockrell and Brandon Lee Cockrell of Gilbert, Cody Wesley Cockrell of Spartanburg Methodist College and Saluda.
A sister Carolyn Louise Cockrell preceded Mrs. Berry in death.
Services will be 3PM Thursday, December 16, 2004 at Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating.
Interment will follow in Red Bank Baptist Church cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6 until 8PM Wednesday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.

McCORMICK — Services for Tecora Gaston Burt are 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Plum Branch, conducted by the Rev. Melvin Gordon, pastor. Assisting are the Revs. George Key, Ernest Gordon, Lewis Burt, Arthur Kemp and Ernest Cannon. Burial is in Mine Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Johnston.
Pallbearers are brothers-in-law.
Flower bearers are members of Ponds Chapter No. 33, Order of the Eastern Star.

David Cline
WARE SHOALS, SC – David Daniel Cline, 67, of 677 Power House Road, husband of Frankie McClain Cline died Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at his home. He was a son of the late Israel Putnam and Eva McNeely Cline and was a self-employed building contractor.
Mr. Cline was a member of Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a former deacon and Youth Director. He was also a former member of Ware Shoals National Guard.
Surviving besides his wife of the home are: one son, Phillip David Cline, Ware Shoals; one daughter, Jill Cline Webster, Ware Shoals and grandson, Caleb Jared Webster. Also, two sisters, Elizabeth Cline Kernells, Ware Shoals and Lillie Cline Darnell, Greenwood.
He was predeceased by two brothers, James D. Cline and Robert E. Lee Cline.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11 AM at Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. J.C. Sorrow, Rev. Randy Fleming and Rev. John Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at Parker-White Funeral Home, Wednesday, 6-8 PM. The body will be placed in the church at 10 A.M. Thursday.
Willie Cordell
GREENWOOD – Willie Powell Cordell, 89, resident of Westgate, widow of James T. Cordell, died December 14, 2004 at Self Regional Medical Center.
born in Elbert County, GA, June 23, 1915, she was a daughter of the late William Lindsey and Bessie Cash Powell. She was a graduate of Rock Branch High School and attended Berry College in Rome, GA. Mrs. Cordell was co-founder in 1955 of American Termapest in Greenwood and remained active in the family business until her retirement in 1974.
A member of South Main Street Baptist Church for over 50 years she was also a member and former officer of the Naomi Sunday School Class of the church.
Surviving are a son, James T. “Jim” Cordell, Jr. and fiance Charlotte B. Owens of Greenwood, a son-in-law, C. Robert Reese of Greenwood. Grandchildren, Chad and wife Karen Reese of Greenwood, Ashleigh Cordell of Hilton Head Island and Hayes Cordell of Charlotte, NC. Three great-grandchildren, Hunter Reese, Abby Reese and Elizabeth Reese.
Mrs. Cordell was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Cordell Reese, two sisters, Nona Crawford and Bobbie Powell and two brothers, Joe Powell and Hubert Powell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday from the BIyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Sayer and Rev. David Corbitt officiating.
Entombment will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park Open Chapel Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Winnie Crawford, Larry Powell, David Powell, Charles Hopkins, Ryan Griffith and Ted Greer.
Honorary escort will be members of the Naomi Sunday School Class and employees of American Termapest.

ANTREVILLE — Hoke Floyd, 75, of 185 Keowee Road, husband of Geneva Pickens Floyd, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
born in Hart County, Ga., he was a son of the late Robert and Clarkie Carter Floyd. He was a textile employee of Milliken Textiles, Abbeville Plant with more than 51 years of service. He was a member of Mission Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Ann Taylor of Anderson and Nancy Phillips of Belton; five sons, Harold Floyd and Jimmy Floyd, both of Belton, David W. Floyd of Antreville, Tommy Floyd of Anderson and Virgil Floyd of Flowery Branch, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Tony Beauford. Burial is in South Lawn Garden cemetery, Anderson County.

EDGEFIELD — Mary Elizabeth Corley Griffis, 71, of Jeter Street, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at Summerville Medical Center.
A native of Edgefield County, she was a member of Edgefield First Baptist Church and a retired secretary from the Savannah River Site.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Rev. Debra Griffis) Woodberry of Summerville; a son, Jeff Griffis of Edgefield; and a granddaughter.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Edgefield First Baptist Church. Burial is in Eastview cemetery.

DONALDS — Alvin Curtis “Jiggs” Gunnells, 74, of 112 W. Main St., husband of Martha Jane McClain Gunnells, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at his home.
born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late William and Bessie McGaha Gunnells. He retired from the Donald's Cafe' and was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Gary Gunnells and Donnie Gunnells, both of Donalds; two daughters, Ann Phillips of Donalds and Sandy Gunnells of the home; a brother, Ernest Gunnells of Donalds; three sisters, Louise Phillips of Honea Path, Lillie Mae Lamb of Donalds and Mary Gambrell of Abbeville; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Fambrough of McCormick; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (China) Hickinbottom of Las Vegas; Ora Mae Johnson of Enoree; three brothers, Cornelius Johnson of McCormick, Adam Johnson of Vidalia and Peter Johnson of Atlanta; grandmothers, Ernestine Cook of Augusta, Ga., and Christine Dunbar of Wilkesberry, Pa.

Margaret Chastain Murdock, 63, of 55 Shore Loop Road, wife of James A. Murdock Jr., died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at her home.
born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Taylor and Lila Mae Bruce Chastain. She retired from Monsanto after 36 years of service and attended Waterloo United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Marcelle Cook of Greenwood; a son, Scott Hall of Waterloo; a stepdaughter, Deborah Murdock of Greenville; a stepson, David Murdock of Brookshire, Texas; five sisters; a brother; and seven grandchildren.
