Mrs. Gladys Rebecca Clamp, age 99, of Fort Mill, died Friday, May 11, 2012, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2012 at Westerly Hills Baptist Church in Fort Mill and other times at the home of Tommy Clamp, 1560 Country Lodge Road in Fort Mill.
The funeral will follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Roger Brown officiating. Entombment will be at Grandview Memorial Park - Cherry Road in Rock Hill.
born in Newberry, Miss Clamp was a daughter of the late William Artis Clamp and Daisy Boozer Clamp. She was retired from Springs Industries. Miss Clamp was a member of Westerly Hills Baptist Church and the XYZ Senior Citizens.
Surviving are her son, Gene Clarkson Clamp of Rock Hill; her sister, Ethel Frick of China Grove, N.C.; her grandson, Michael Clamp of York; her nephew and caregiver, Tommy Clamp of Fort Mill; and two special friends, Evelyn Hope Atkins and Jane Hope Farley.

Mr. Robert "Bobby" Eugene Blackwell, Jr., age 51, died Thursday, April 19, 2012, at his home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral from 11 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Wolfe Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at Noon in the Chapel, with the Rev. Jason Coley officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
born in Rock Hill, Bobby was a son of the late Robert Eugene Blackwell, Sr. and Nancy Griffin Blackwell. He served in the South Carolina National Guard. Bobby enjoyed joking around with his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou Hancock Blackwell; his son, Robert Eugene Blackwell III and his wife, Meredith, of Alabama, Christopher Joe Blackwell and his wife, Autumn, of Waxhaw, N.C. and Daniel Daulton Blackwell of Fort Mill; step-daughter, Saleana Harris of Fort Mill; his brother, Vincent Scott Blackwell and his wife, Pam, of Fort Mill; two sisters, Angela Vinesette of Charlotte and Susan Moffitt of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hailey, Hunter and Hannah.

Mr. Otis Melvin Lovern, age 79, of Indian Land, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Mill, with the Rev. Jason Coley officiating. Burial will be at Pineville City cemetery.
born in Ninety-Six, S.C., Mr. Lovern was a son of the late Jeptsie and Lillie Mae Ellison Lovern. He was retired from the engraving industry. He enjoyed fishing and had a love of music, especially playing the fiddle and bass.
Surviving are his children, Christopher Mark Atkins and his wife, Marie, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Miranda Garrett and her husband, Ron, Timothy Lovern and his wife, Sandy, of Richburg, S.C. and Scott Lovern of Indian Land; and five grandchildren, Joshua, Elizabeth and Hanna Garrett, and Samantha and Shelley Lovern. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Atkins Lovern.

born in Fort Mill, Scoob was a son of the late Forest Guy Crocker and Gladys Mae Johnson Crocker. He graduated from Fort Mill High School and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his son, Matt Crocker and his wife, Amy, of Catawba; his brother, Tony Crocker and his Wife, Sylvia, of Fort Mill; his grandson, Cohen Crocker; his girlfriend, Linda Walker of Fort Mill; his stepdaughter, Rebecca Brown of Fort Mill; nieces, Donna Ellis, Robin Freeman and Toni Crocker; and nephews, Anthony Crocker and Jeremy Black.

Surviving are four daughters, Stephanie Thiel (Patrick) of Fort Mill, S.C., Nancy Carabia of Porland, Maine, Theresa Voelker (Richard) of Rock Hill, N.Y. and Frances Tapia of Bayonne, N.J.; her brother, Charles Raymond Vigeant (Edna) of Avon, Conn.; her sister, Clara Joan Babcock (Jim) of New Port News, Va.; and four grandchildren, Tammy Gillen, Patrick Thiel, Adam Thiel and Natalia Tapia. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Ann Castagno.

born in York County, S.C., Mrs. Carroll was a daughter of the late Leslie Caskey and Alma Giles Caskey and was a life-time resident of Fort Mill. She retired from Springs Industries, where she was a member of its 25 Year Club; and was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her son, Jack Merritt and his wife, Nita, of Charlotte; two daughters, Linda Potts and her husband, Eddie, of Fort Mill and Jenny Carroll Parrish and her husband, Tom, of Rock Hill; her brother, Pete Caskey of Fort Mill; three sisters, Sara Blackwelder of Fort Mill, Mary Knox of Seneca, and Carolyn Rotman of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Dawn Merritt, Cathy Tomlin, Tommy Parrish, Cindy Sexton, Anita MacDaniel, Donna Workman and Julie Faile; and two great-grandchildren, Garrison and Hunter Tomlin. She also is survived by her three namesakes, Faye Ruth Merritt Janson, Bailey Elizabeth MacDaniel and Hannah Elizabeth Knox. Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Merritt (1965) and her second husband, Norris Carroll (2003).

DeRee Dickson Phillips

Mrs. DeRee Dickson Phillips, age 90, of 115 West Close Street, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at St. John's United Methodist Church on Tom Hall Street on Friday, May 11, 2012 with the funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating and other times at the home of her son, Fred Osborne, 766 Nims Lake Road. Burial will be at Unity cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Indian Land, S.C. on June 14, 1921 to the late Foy Wildon Dickson, Sr. and LuLa Beatrice Therrell. She was a graduate of Indian Land High School and a member of the Beta Club. She also played center on the Indian Land basketball team.
DeRee worked for Martin Drugs and retired as a dispatcher at the Fort Mill Police Department in 1989. She was a charter member of Garden Club of Fort Mill, Red Cross Volunteer and was on the visitation committees for St. John's.
She was also an avid gardner and participated in many walking events in the Fort Mill area. She also enjoyed traveling to several countries in her later life. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Neal Osborne, and her second husband, Raleigh H. Phillips, Sr.; son, Raleigh H. Phillips, Jr.; and brothers A.B. Dixon, Foy Dickson, Jr. and John Emmett Dickson.
Survivors include sons, Fred A. Osborne (Ann) and Aubrey Dale Phillips, both of Fort Mill; grandchildren, Mallory and Morgan Saunders Phillips; sister, Dorothy D. Darnell, Frankie Dickson; sister-in-law; brothers, Bill Dickson (Jenny), Jim Dickson (Alice), and Dave Dickson; her special friends and former sister-in-law, Jean Schwerin; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Thomas Ambrose Surratt

Thomas Ambrose Surratt, 81, died May 15, 2012 at his home in Fort Mill. born in Wadesboro, N.C., he was the son of the late Thomas Dennis and Katie Lulu Caudle Surratt of Jefferson, SC.
After graduating Newberry College in 1951, Mr. Surratt served in Germany with the 114th AC&W; Squadron, United States Air Force. In 1957 he was appointed as a first lieutenant in the Army National Guard, United States Army, and commanded the unit in Jefferson, S.C. until the early 1960s.
In 1953, he began his career as an educator. He enrolled in courses at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, earning Master of Education and Doctorate of Education degrees. He taught two years (1954-56) at Jefferson High School. From 1956 to 1967 he taught science and mathematics and served as principal of Buford High School and as superintendent of the Buford Area Schools, Lancaster, S.C. From 1967 until his retirement in 1995, Tom Surratt served in numerous positions in the Department of Educational Administration, College of Education, at the University of South Carolina. He retired as a Distinguished Professor Emeritus. While at USC, he served as President of the S.C. Association of School Administrators (1985-86). He conducted a seminar on educational management for faculty of the University of Benin, Lome, Togo, West Africa and taught courses in administration at International School of Kenya Teacher’s Technical College, Nairobi, East Africa.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Sandra Bailey Smith Surratt; daughter Sandra Suzette Surratt Caudle and her husband Michael William Caudle of Charlotte, N.C.; and son Timothy Dennis Surratt and his wife Susan Thomas Edwards Surratt of Pawley’s Island, S.C. Granddaughters in the order they joined his family include Elizabeth Bradshaw Surratt, Catherine Bailey Surratt, Bailey Hope Caudle, Caroline Marguerite Caudle and Anne Thomas Surratt. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas Ambrose Surratt, Jr.
Tom worshipped at Jefferson United Methodist Church, Jefferson S.C.; Tabernacle UMC, Lancaster, S.C.; Shandon UMC, Columbia, S.C. and Philadelphia UMC, Fort Mill, SC, where visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012 and the funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Burial will be follow at the Town of Jefferson cemetery in Jefferson, S.C.

Beverly Bailes Geiger
ANDERSON — Beverly Bailes Geiger, 74, of 103 Wilson Way, widow of Harmon Geiger, died Sept. 14, 2001, at her home.
born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Essie Russell Bailes. She was a graduate of Stephens College, Columbia, Miss., and the owner of Harris Carpets, the oldest carpet store in Anderson, in business since 1947. She was a member of Young Memorial A.R.P. Church and the Women’s Garden Club.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Bailes Geiger of Anderson; three daughters, Essie Junkins and Sally Brainerd, both of Anderson and Lynn Parker of Greenwood; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Cryptside services will be conducted at 2 today at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel by Dr. L. Thomas Richie.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Scott Junkins, Russell Junkins, Michael Loftis, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Parker and Travis Long.
